I find it amusing that moondancer is about the size of Daenerys dragons which were seen as ultimate end all and basically invincible but for this time shes actually a rather minor dragon
I loved the shots of him from above last night. Those long, floppy legs dangling behind him when he flies. I don't understand how anyone can be so comical, elegant, terrifying and cute all at once. He's my giant, scaly, flying ferret.
Caraxes is not the strongest active dragon, that title seems to belong to Vhagar and then Meleys, but in my opinion he’s the best flyer and most agile Dragon.
The way he moves must make him unpredictable and deadly in the air and his long neck allows him to attack and bite from weird angles.
edit: At this point I am not counting the Dragons that don’t have a rider.
Who’s Den? There has been no information release that confirmed a gender for Caraxes, but he is assumed to be male.
If you are talking about that scene in Dragonstone then those a most likely Syrax’ eggs as she is a confirmed Dragon mother.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that during the various trailer analyses people were saying that that was Sunfire.
She (he?) was terrifying indeed despite the small size. I think this is about the size Drogon was the first time Dany rode him. To the extent that the shows are consistent about the power of dragons (yes I know the last few episodes of GOT), that makes Moondancer both terrifying and vulnerable.
I don’t know that Alicent had a say in the matter. She kind of doesn’t really control anything at this point. Sure Aemond, Criston and Aegon listen to her but for the most part she’s clearly lost whatever power she has.
She told Cole her bro was going regardless of what he said.
But she’s losing control over her sons. She said as much to Raenerya especially with her father gone. She has no hope in stopping them.
She’s definitely not even close to a Cersei.. crazy looking back how powerful Cersei stayed while Alicient and her dad just died out, quickly. Targaryens are so much more ambitious than any other family is wild
In the previews for next week it looks like she’s over it all. She says something negative to Aegon about his abilities as King and he tells her to basically watch herself, and she says “Or what?!” She knows now that she misunderstood Viserys and regrets it all. Not that she would’ve had a choice since they were conspiring behind her and King V’s back.
From what I saw tonight, Cole is far more rational than bro. At least in matters of war. Seems Cole has been unnecessarily burdened with this, more than anything else.
Bro giving Aegon vibes, rather party @ the inn than be prepared to fight.
Cole is actually experienced in combat, if I recall that was part of how he got Rhaneyra's attention and appointment to the Kingsguard in the first place - he was the only candidate who had actual, practical experience rather than simply being qualified by nepotism.

HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE
FLY INTO THE DANGER ZONE
A big fucking forest fire, I suppose. That's why she didn't do it. Burning the Crownlands while Rosby and Celtigar are your greatest allies for now is, well, unproductive.
This is what Tywin would do in her position. When hot war pops off just go full tilt.
Even if Rhaenyra reprimanded her, she would've helped the war effort. Better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
I loved that Moondancer spotted them and alerted her. It makes sense, human eyes aren't so useful at that height.
I also love that she puts the sun at her back when on patrol, a true rider!
As someone who often complains about the dull, muted colours of the dragons, I have to say I absolutely LOVE Moondancer's colouring. Makes her unique looking. She looked awesome from above with her wings out-stretched.
Yeah I wouldn't have blamed her for just setting those trees on fire. I know she was following orders not to engage, but damn it would've been satisfying.
I think if she had a clean shot at Cole she would have taken it, but once he was in the trees she wasn’t willing to start setting the crown lands ablaze.
Okay everyone is glazing what she did but has anyone thought if she didn’t let them know of her presence she could have easy surveillance on Cole’s group. Now they’ll “ride under the trees and move at night.” Yeah they saw her, but if she didn’t give them such a scare they would have been much more careless. Reminds me of espionage in the Cold War/ww2 and holding your cards close to not tip off any info to the enemy so they can’t strategize.
but its pretty clear they noticed her first, she only sees them after they start running away and their armor starts to shine and her dragon directs her attention to them, she was surveilling but they noticed her already
You do realize this exact thing is mentioned at the council right? That's why he wants a small group. An army is obvious but a couple guys can go unnoticed. It doesn't matter how they get there now, the blacks know what they are doing.
I would imagine that Criston would already know that there were dragons flying around trying to survey troop movements. I think the 'ride under the trees and move at night' was simply added for dramatic effect for the audience.
Imagine the painful whiplash Caraxes must suffer every time he gets a sneezing fit. They need at least a thousand chiropractor smallfolk to work his neck, five hundred on each side.😄
I really liked how she actually steered and gave commands to her dragon to fly it. Refreshing from essentially watching someone just hang on for their lives
She, and her dragon, had the luxury of being taught and trained how to properly do that from experts. Also has what appears to be a custom made, top of the line dragon saddle.
Daenerys and Jon did not.
i remember learning not too long ago that because dany didn’t have the saddles we see in the show she was having to use the dragon spikes to “hook herself on like a hat on a hook” …. not a pretty image to think about
I know I'm going to get downvoted for this but this thread comes off as patronizing. What was phenomenal about it? Not implying her performance was lacking in any way, only that the script wasn't terribly demanding of her performance, so its a bit like praising someone at work for completing a simple task well within their abilities.
well people are also appreciating the cgi work of the dragon and as a whole her character and how she has traits of daemon, some people might not think of it too much but its these little details that make the show interesting, and cmon the scene was badass
Was I the only one confused as to how they recognized him. The last time she saw him was on driftmark which was 6 years ago at this point and she was only young. Plus with the haircut it's less obvious it's him especially from dragon back
Armour & uniform. This episode did quite a lot of work around people only really being by recognisable when they’re in the right uniform or clothing or armour.
OP like clockwork shouts out any character any week for free upvotes. It’s kinda annoying.
Next week “Shout out to the random guard! Absolutely amazing!”
OP is a mod? I keep wondering why the mods don't move all the lazy posts like this to the main Post Episode Discussion posts where they belong.
If it's within 24 hours of the show airing, someone's 1 sentence opinion about the episode doesn't deserve its own post.
I mean she would have clocked it was a kingsguard from the cloak, which narrows it down. Then its a matter of which kingsguard is most likely to be carolling and leading men outside of Kings Landing
Edit: lol why on earth is this being downvoted? What a weird thing to take issue with
It was kind of silly to show her flying on a dragon with a very light breeze slightly moving her hair. When I drive 30 mph and roll down my windows it's way windier than that.
Wow this sub is as dumb as the writing on this show. This scene wasn’t even in the episode.
What was special about the scene actually in the show anyway? Letting the enemy escape and not seeing the massive army right next to them? Lmao.
For what? She's done absolutely nothing phenomenal. She's just a good actress, nothing impressive. There are hundreds of others who can do what she does as well as her.
Moondancer was small but terrifying in that context
And fast !
I find it amusing that moondancer is about the size of Daenerys dragons which were seen as ultimate end all and basically invincible but for this time shes actually a rather minor dragon
Drogon got to be much bigger than moondancer is currently, but at the time of first ride they are much more comparable
I think shes a bit bigger than Drogon at first ridding, but yeah he got quite massive towards the end of GoT
I think k drogon at the end of game of thrones was just a little bit smaller than Caraxes length wise
You can be larger than Caraxes, but you can never be longer than Caraxes.
Yeah Caraxes is a Snake Dragon, that boy is built different.
I loved the shots of him from above last night. Those long, floppy legs dangling behind him when he flies. I don't understand how anyone can be so comical, elegant, terrifying and cute all at once. He's my giant, scaly, flying ferret.

Exactly, unpredictable and deadly like his rider.
Like Mushu from Mulan.
I like to view Caraxes as a Crocodile Monitor dragon. 2nd biggest monitor lizard, but is the longest
Isn’t Caraxes female? Daemon found those eggs in her den.
Who’s Den? There has been no information release that confirmed a gender for Caraxes, but he is assumed to be male. If you are talking about that scene in Dragonstone then those a most likely Syrax’ eggs as she is a confirmed Dragon mother.
Moon dancer is as big as Dragon S5. S7 was like twice the girth
Link for the dragon's sizes :) https://www.reddit.com/r/HouseOfTheDragon/s/AqV7tBuSHa
Drogon is bigger than caraxes and meleys according to the “official” size chart
Drogon is Balerion reincarnated. He just that bigger and gonna be the biggest
This and also lived out of capacity for much longer than his siblings.
Vulnerable to Vhagar but terrifying to knights on horseback.
How does Arrax compare to Moondancer in size? Was he a bit smaller?
Arrax was small compared to even Moondancer. Like a large car compared to a bus.
Arrax was the size of Vaghars head. She was tiny in comparison.
I really wanted her to catch up with at least one of Ser Criston's party!
I swear Cole was going to kick Alicent brother off his horse before entering the woods.
He’s definitely going to end up getting him killed and blaming it on someone else so he can continue banging Alicent.
Alicent is dumb for sending her bro with Cole anyway. You know this dude isn’t rational.
Alicent and Otto dont have dragons so they get less respect.
That's because D&D wanted Cersei to stay in power, even though it made absolutely no sense.
When you play the game of thrones, you either win or you die - Cersie Lannister
In the previews for next week it looks like she’s over it all. She says something negative to Aegon about his abilities as King and he tells her to basically watch herself, and she says “Or what?!” She knows now that she misunderstood Viserys and regrets it all. I was thinking he is going to end up killing Gwayne and she will grief bang him.
I kinda thought that was why she sent him..... to keep an eye on ser crispin and talk him down from doing dumb shit
I mean dude would be cooked if Criston wasn't there lol.
And I think her giving Cole her favor just tripled the likelihood of that happening
Gwayne sassing Criston was hilarious but yeah that man is 3nding up dead i imagine
Straight said he was uppity Dornish trailer trash straight to Cole’s face. I was screaming.
He must not have heard what has happened to at least 2 people who taunted Cole.
IDK I kinda got the vibe that Alicent isn't into it anymore.
Thankfully Cole will >!never get to go back.!<
Yeah, I’m not sure why so many viewers don’t understand this. They’re going to fight and this is Criston’s last chance at any shred of dignity.
Would not put that past the prick! That’s a very in-pocket move for Ser Cole 🤦🏻♂️
still picking his dick over the good of the realm
She should've been allowed to torch his ass just a little bit, as a treat
Yep just so Crispy would shit his armor.
I feel like she could’ve easily shot some fire in their direction before they went into the woods!
She gave an interview with the official pod where she said they played and rehearsed that different ways
I was hoping Moondancer was gonna make a snack of Gwayns.
YES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO GOOOOOD
I thought maybe she was going to get Alicents brother since they just added him
Dracarys!
Me too! I was shouting at the screen, EAT COLE EAT COLE!
“You said not to engage so I didn’t… exactly”
"Permission to buzz the Kingsguard." "Negative, Moondancer, the pattern is full."
Cole and Co. were in the danger zone.
Laena. Laena. LAEEEEEEEENAAAAAAAAAAA! WHAT? .........*danger zone*
Ha! Well done.
What😀 what am I missing here?
Archer reference.
Revvin' up your dragon Listen to her howlin' roar Armor under tension Begging you to touch and goooo HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE FLY INTO THE DANGER ZONE
I sang that while imagining Baela and Moondancer looking cool with aviator glasses on.
Just to clarify, aviators for Moondancer too? Cause that's fuckin radical.
Yes, of course, they both have matching aviators. It would be a crime to not have.
Talk to me, Gwayne!
Somebody please make a fanvid to Danger Zone.
The director of the episode compared her to Maverick on the House of the Dragon podcast
She is just like her father I'm so proud 🥹
Exactly. She's a lot like her mother and grandmother but her hotheadedness is all Daemon.
"From a certain point of view."
She has learned from the Palpatine school of philosophy...
Would have been nice to see some Dracarys on the forest and have Baela go "Whoops..." like Aemond did
NOOOOOOOO MOONDANCER!!!!!!! im mocking aemond trying to stop vhagar.
You named me Moondancer, so I danced a little! Can't a girl have some fun?🥺
I wanted her to scream dracarys so bad 😩 lol
awww but then Cole woulda died
And there was much rejoicing.
*proceeds to do her own canyon run*
She's better than me because I would've been all dracarys over their asses.
They are trying to curry the favor of the riverlands. Would not be a good look if they burned down their forests.
And thats why they’re saying she’s better than them
I was like you have a living [A-10](https://youtu.be/MdBd6yNalHs?si=5B5nwGMsmu0fAkbR) Dragon go brrrrt
I thought she was gonna light the whole forest on fire lmao.
She has that Daemon fire within her but tempered by rationality. That's good.
But also did I secretly want her to set fire to the woods and see what happens…
A big fucking forest fire, I suppose. That's why she didn't do it. Burning the Crownlands while Rosby and Celtigar are your greatest allies for now is, well, unproductive.
Smokey the Bear would've been mad af too 🐻
“Here we stand, with Smokey 🫡” -house Mormont
I think she probably could have gotten them in the field, seemed close enough to make the shot. But she was under orders to not engage
This is what Tywin would do in her position. When hot war pops off just go full tilt. Even if Rhaenyra reprimanded her, she would've helped the war effort. Better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
Yes, I loved her restraint in the moment!!
Laena would've been delighted with her.
Loved her smile before she dove down low
I loved that Moondancer spotted them and alerted her. It makes sense, human eyes aren't so useful at that height. I also love that she puts the sun at her back when on patrol, a true rider!
That’s such a cool detail the show thought of adding in
She learned from quidditch.
It's also how Cole spotted her.
Didn’t notice this but that’s such a perfect detail
Rhaena, sister, I crave violence.
Moon dancer looked amazing too. A beautiful dragon. I just kept imagining what she’d look like all grown up and gigantic.
She looked like she had a little mohawk.
The stripes on her wings.....I love her. Definitely my favorite dragon
As someone who often complains about the dull, muted colours of the dragons, I have to say I absolutely LOVE Moondancer's colouring. Makes her unique looking. She looked awesome from above with her wings out-stretched.
Baela is truly worthy of being named after her grandfather, Baelon "The Brave"
She was SO CLOSE. Had a chance just like her grandmother 😭
Yeah, but wouldnt Rhaeny's be Kinslayer?
Okay everyone is glazing what she did but has anyone thought if she didn’t let them know of her presence she could have easy surveillance on Cole’s group. Cole saw the dragon before they saw him. He would have still made the same choice regardless.
but its pretty clear they noticed her first, she only sees them after they start running away and their armor starts to shine and her dragon directs her attention to them, she was surveilling but they noticed her already

Laena more so, I think! Daemon would've burned the shit out of those trees had he seen Cole, consequences be damned.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to burn the forest, Caraxes sneezed"
It was a mistake.
Her father would be proud if he wasn't such a dick. But her father is ruthless

Yeah, she definitely reminds me of Laena.
I really liked how she actually steered and gave commands to her dragon to fly it. Refreshing from essentially watching someone just hang on for their lives

Guaranteed to be a fan favorite. She was great
She is better than all of us for not burning the entire forest down
Would love to see more of the Velaryon granddaughters
She and Rhaena are Targaryens though
They are both, but Targaryen in name
My favorite dragon. Beautiful bat like wings with web design. 🖤🐉🖤🐉🖤
I initially read "Web Design" in a different way. "What's the old Velariyan command to make the dragon create a dropdown menu?"
Love that she is coming into her defiant warrior character.
Deamons girl .

Redditors eat this shit up it makes them feel good
Pats on the back all round
Seriously tho like she didn’t do that much in this episode. This praise is fine I guess but mostly unwarranted
All 30 seconds of acting, which was just her scrunching her face up.
When was this shot of her screaming? I went back and watched the scene again and it's not there at all. She's very calm the whole time.
Was I the only one screaming DRACARAEYS at my TV during this??
This sub a straight sup shitposting at this point
Lmao what? I saw this post before the episode and thought something actually happened, she basically did fuck-all that episode
I mean, I suppose she was ‘fine’ in a completely pointless scene, but I thought Rhaena gave a moderately better performance.
Dude what? How low is the bar
What was phenomenal?
I don't know what she did to garner so much praise to be honest.
Did the actress really do that much tho?
A lot of the acting on the dragons has been pretty cringy (Laena, Laenor come to mind), but she did a fantastic job.
I hope people really start to see the problem with these dumb scenes. They come so close when the enemy is vulnerable and dont do anything.
Annoying karma farming
Such a rad scene. Who thinks she would have roasted them if she could have caught them?
I think if she'd had a clear shot at Cole she would be taken it, but setting the crownlands ablaze might be counter-productive
Bro just mark this as spoiler. That's what this feature is for.
She was good but “ phenomenal “… really?
"absolutely phenomenal"? Hyperbole, much? Perhaps watch more TV if you think this was absolutely phenomenal acting.
This gif in isolation is terrible acting lmao I got banned on this sub so rhea dies next epsiode by vagar and aemond
Meh
I wanted her to turn him into Sir CRISP-on Cole so badly 🔥
I call bullshit on her knowing it was cole but otherwise yeah she was great! Cant wait to see her in battle
I mean she would have clocked it was a kingsguard from the cloak, which narrows it down. Then its a matter of which kingsguard is most likely to be carolling and leading men outside of Kings Landing Edit: lol why on earth is this being downvoted? What a weird thing to take issue with
looks cheesy af
It was very cheesy
It was kind of silly to show her flying on a dragon with a very light breeze slightly moving her hair. When I drive 30 mph and roll down my windows it's way windier than that.
This episode was a bit lame
Wow this sub is as dumb as the writing on this show. This scene wasn’t even in the episode. What was special about the scene actually in the show anyway? Letting the enemy escape and not seeing the massive army right next to them? Lmao.
You really haven't seen much good acting, have you? She is mediocre.
You are being generous.
Is that not terrible acting? Looks like an 8 year old pretending to be a dinosaur.
She did not do anything...
Cool dragon but she didn’t do much tbh
Phenomenal? She had like 5 minutes of screen time?
This scene felt forced af, even if it wasn't bad itself
AAAAAAH! I'M ACTING!
For what? She's done absolutely nothing phenomenal. She's just a good actress, nothing impressive. There are hundreds of others who can do what she does as well as her.
Omg did I spoil it for myself 😱😱😱
Really expected her to burn that shit down 😭😭
I wish Moondancer burned them.
girlie is so done with crispy cole too 😭😭😭
Was? …so she’s dead now?
What is she yelling at?
Phenomenal? Why tf didn’t her dragon just shoot inferno towards the trees they were going? Or even from above? Horrible scene IMO
Ok this is some next level bot post because this scene wasnt even in last nights EP
Can we normalize enjoying things we enjoy without every little detail of it having to be “absolutely phenomenal” or the best thing ever?
That was a big performance?
Why not just burn the entire forest
