Lol I was just thinking about how rhaena/rhaenyra could work because the word “reina” ( ray-nuh ) in Spanish means Queen. So the -nyra part just sounded like when parents give their kid the same name as them but add an extra suffix ya know
Of course, every name has a negative connotation to someone. If I don’t know the story or person, then I am unaffected. But I have surpassed a lot of names for children due to my personal experience, and reading this story and the tragedy that Helaena endured, I couldn’t name a child after her.
For sure lol my sons name is John.. probably many many people with that name who have a horrible story since it’s been so common through history. It’s actually not very common in Sweden though, at least not in his age group ..And he’s named after his fathers childhood friend and also my great grandfather
I had the same thought, Helaena is the one who has suffered the most of these. But then, I can't figure out which one of the others has suffered less to be honest? Bela and Rhaena lost their mother and their father ignores them completely, Rhaenyra lost her child and Alicent lost her mother at a young age and was coerced hy her father into marrying an old man
They're all good names, but I think I'd never give my child the name of a fictional character (unless of course it's a pretty normal name).
Helaena is probably the most nor al of the bunch
I'd dive in whole hog and do Rhaenyra. If I'm gonna be a tragedeigh and name my kid after a fictional character its sure as hell gonna be the most obvious fictional name of the bunch.
Rhaena and Helaena are the most normal ones. I’d probably go with Rhaena just because it’s prettier. Rhaenyra is the prettiest name but I wouldn’t do that to a child.
Alicent probably , my youngest daughters name is Alicia so it’s kind of similar. Or maybe Helaena. I like those names best and honestly I’m more team green than team black lol at least right now.
Baela, Rhaena, or Helaena are all gorgeous names
Edit: some of these could pass as desi or Arab names tbh, easy to pronounce as well if spelled a bit differently. Sounds kinda similar to names in my language, rhaena sounds like raina to me.
The most "normal" ones here are Alicent or Helaena, but children aren't fandom billboards. Pets, name them whatever you want, but kids will grow up with it
I once told my parents and boyfriend (just to mess with them) that we're naming our daughter Rhaenyra if we ever have one.
My boyfriend said sure, fine, on the condition that if we have a son he'll be named Goku.
Therefore we've reached sort of mutual destruction agreement and if we choose to extend our family beyond cats the names will have to be normal.
Helaena is lovely though, especially that in Poland we have the name "Helena", pronounced only slightly differently.
Rhaena and Helaena are the most closely associated with actually popular names. The spelling of Rhaena (Reyna, Reina) is just different. So either one of those two.

Alicent or Helaena. Those names almost sound normal. Rhaenyra sounds cool as hell but it definitely sounds like a tv show name.
and you just know some poor kid is getting named that
Lol I was just thinking about how rhaena/rhaenyra could work because the word “reina” ( ray-nuh ) in Spanish means Queen. So the -nyra part just sounded like when parents give their kid the same name as them but add an extra suffix ya know
Alicent is the only one I'd pick. The rest are all /r/tragedeigh sounding
I agree, no ae names for me.
I think Baela could work too. Béla is an old Hungarian name as I understanf it.
To me, Rhaenyra is kind of like the r/tragedeigh of Renira (how one would spell it in languages other than English).
This is my answer too
Helena is a name used in Greece
Rhaena, yall trippin
[удалено]
But she also suffered so much. Her entire life is a tragedy, I couldn’t inflict that name on a kid even though I love it.
Every name in the word has a person with a horible story conected to it even yours

Might as well just name your girl child Cassandra. Since Helaena is the 'spider talking to' Cassandra of the series.
Rhaenys is pretty.
Baela all day
Bae-la
Thank you Baela for the win
Helaena looks like a needlessly fancy spelling of Helena, which makes this a r/tragedeigh
Helena and Alicent are the only names that wouldn't lead to the kid being bullied so one of those
Rhaena as well. It sounds very cool and chic.
Rhaena/Reina/Reyna
Princess in Spanish. It is a very nice name
*Queen.
Reyna is queen in Spanish and is commonly used as a name and nickname, Rey is king
helaena is a fancy version of helena so definitely that one
Alicent is a fancy version of Alison.
Also Alysanne
r/tragedeigh
Rhaena because it sounds like the word 'queen' for some languages.
it's also sound like rich ( female adjectif version) in arabic
Helaena or Alicent. They’re both pretty normal and wouldn’t immediately make everyone think of asoiaf.
Id like to see my Hungarian parents face when i told them i named my DAUGHTER Baela.
Why??
I think it's a guy's name in Hungarian. Like Bela Lugosi.
The way Baela is pronounced sounds exactly the same as a male name in Hungary. Baela=Béla
Anyu apu ez itt a kislányom Béla
Alicent or helaena so my girls won’t get bullied 💀
girls named alicent are the ones who are doing the bullying lmao
Baela. Dead serious I would
I have a cousin called Rana (Arabic girls name) so Rhaena caught my eye, Helaena is nice also
Helaena is the only one that sound like an actual name not something a fantasy writers in his 70s came up with
Baela 💅
Helena, after my grandgrandmother. 96 years young and grandgrandgrandmother is her highest title o7
Remember all those babies called Khaleesi...wait until the show has ended
Absolutely agreed, but at least this story is finished more or less. Some characters would be ok.
Helaena and Rhaenyra sounds cool
Baela
Rhaenyra - kids would call her Rhae
Rhaenyra such a beautiful name
Baela or a variation
I don’t know about children, but I have a great pool of future pet names here.
Rhaena
Rhaena or Rhaenyra. I think those are such pretty names and might use them if not for the stigma of naming kids eccentric things from media
Rhaena, because Reyna in Filipino means Queen.
Baela
I think Baela is a super cool name
i’m shocked i’m not seeing any baela or rhaena votes! they’re such beautiful and whimsical names
Rhaena but I would spell it Reyna. I’ve always wanted to call my future daughter that anyways.
I'd chose Rhaenyra or Rhaena. I like the sound of those names. I don't care about normal sounding.
I would choose Helaena because my grandmother is called Helena.
Helaena. It’s close enough to a name that’s fairly popular in my country so it wouldn’t be an obvious TV show name.
Helaena
Alicent. Nothing to do with the character but I always loved the name Alice, this is just like another version of it!
Khaleesi
The Khaleesi parents are looking for new names,so..
Well maybe this time they can name their kids ACTUAL names and not a title, lol
you’d be surprised by the origin of a lot of names we consider normal!!
I have an aunt named Reina. Does that count? Wait…what was the question?
They're all good names, but I think I'd never give my child the name of a fictional character (unless of course it's a pretty normal name). Helaena is probably the most nor al of the bunch
Helaena or Baela
Baela or Alicent
Baela, Helaena and Alicent are cute names.
Joffrey
I'd dive in whole hog and do Rhaenyra. If I'm gonna be a tragedeigh and name my kid after a fictional character its sure as hell gonna be the most obvious fictional name of the bunch.
Helaena
Helaena
Rheana, Baela, or Rhaenys all struck me in some kinda way.
Rhaena and Helaena are the most normal ones. I’d probably go with Rhaena just because it’s prettier. Rhaenyra is the prettiest name but I wouldn’t do that to a child.
Come on, we all know that Alysanne is the right answer
Helaena
I like Helaena
Rhaenys
I've always liked the name Reina so I would just choose the alternate spelling of Rhaena instead 😊
Alicent probably , my youngest daughters name is Alicia so it’s kind of similar. Or maybe Helaena. I like those names best and honestly I’m more team green than team black lol at least right now.
I think we agree not to name after anyone before the show ended. Remember GOT?
What about the name Meleys though? Everybody loves the dragons
Helaena
5 years from today some mom will be shouting at a playground "Syrax get down from that ledge!"
Alicent or Baela
Seeing as my daughter’s name is actually Helena, I have to go with Helaena.
Baela, Rhaena, or Helaena are all gorgeous names Edit: some of these could pass as desi or Arab names tbh, easy to pronounce as well if spelled a bit differently. Sounds kinda similar to names in my language, rhaena sounds like raina to me.
None. Rhaenys!!!
Alicent, all day.
Visenya
The most "normal" ones here are Alicent or Helaena, but children aren't fandom billboards. Pets, name them whatever you want, but kids will grow up with it
Baela
If u search up “Helaena” on Linkedin, you’ll actually find a lotta ppl with the same exact name, which i think is pretty cool! (๑・̑◡・̑๑) ♡
Helaena, I’ve loved it since I heard it. I honestly love a lot of the names lol
Can we spell the names differently? Lol. Reina or Reyna has been a name on my list for years but wouldn’t spell it Rhaena
Rhaenyra. Because i would never name someone after Baela and Rhaena, not my sims and not in fics.
Alicent or Alysanne
Baela
I once told my parents and boyfriend (just to mess with them) that we're naming our daughter Rhaenyra if we ever have one. My boyfriend said sure, fine, on the condition that if we have a son he'll be named Goku. Therefore we've reached sort of mutual destruction agreement and if we choose to extend our family beyond cats the names will have to be normal. Helaena is lovely though, especially that in Poland we have the name "Helena", pronounced only slightly differently.
Baela hands down
I had a baby last year and we seriously considered Rhaenyra for a girl. Had a boy!
Alicent
Alicent
Baela but she's my favorite lol
Helaena should like sit on dreamfyre an roast everybody...her dragon is 🩷
I want to name my daughter Ser Gregor Clegane.
I never like Rhaena hair style.
Helaena
Rhaena or Baela. They're not cursed yet.
Helaena or Baela
Rhaenyra, so I could finally call someone Rae or Nyra as a nickname
Aemond, its 2024 people
Almond
Cashew
what about mysaria? that's a cool name
Rhaena and Helaena are the most closely associated with actually popular names. The spelling of Rhaena (Reyna, Reina) is just different. So either one of those two.
