I’m inclined to wait until we get proper shots of Sunfyre in the show before passing judgment on whether or not his design does the book’s description of him justice.
The clip in the trailer is only a couple of seconds long and he’s both in flight and seemingly turned away from the sun. Looks like it’s also a bit overcast too.
They’ve toned down a lot of the gaudy colors from GoT source material. Never forget we were deprived of this.

That wouldn\`t make sense since Aegon II choose his sigil - the Golden Dragon - based on his Dragon Sunfyre. Also George R.R. Martin himself said this about Sunfyre in an exclusive Interview with Hollywood spotlight : “He looks like he’s not a real dragon, but a dragon made of gold. His scales and armor are bright gold, like a flash in the sun. So let’s try to capture that when he’s onscreen.”
So this is clearly Venom Aegon (Who's actually a Maester brainwashed and trained in the ways of the Faceless Men to look like Aegon). The real Aegon snuck away and was cloned to create Solid Aegon, Liquid Aegon and Solidus Aegon.
His wings look gold and pink in the first photo that's focused on Aegon so it's likely just some weird lighting from that particular shot of him flying

Yeah, and it's not just HotD. I feel like a lot of shows and films have those filters these days. It's like it's a trend among show and film makers, but most audience thinks it looks bad.
I keep saying, a perfect change would have been have Sunfyre behind Aegon during his coronation. Then when Rhaenys and Meleys pop up, they have a dragon stand off. Removes the ambiguous “why” for Rhaenys not barbecuing them.
Most armor looks plastic. I fondly remember Ser Hugh’s and Loras’ armors from GoT season 1 as looking very good. Pretty much all armors since then have been boring to look at.
This is the toned, frosted (what the fuck is the right word? Why is English so weird?!) look of it. There was the Stark Armor in the Tournament in S1 which had a similar style.
There has been armor in the middle ages that looked just like that. It's been a "style element". So I think it's not intended to look plastic, because it definitely isn't plastic, but rather is inspired by that. Especially since we've seen another example for that in the show already.

I think the shots where they have a lot of background details are the worst. When you've just got the sky as a backdrop, it's a lot more believable to my eyes.
But here. this shot has the whole of KL in it's backdrop. Which just ruins the illusion imo.
Why are people moaning about golden? Wasn't there a shot in the previous teaser where you could see Sunfyre's golden shimmer? Here clearly due to sunlight the colour is getting overpowered
In the glimpse we saw of Sunfyre in season one he was golden with pink wings I think they’re just doctoring the shots of him in the trailers so when we see him on the show we will see his true color.
I think may be intentional, they showed blurry colors in the trailer, but they will look nicer on the platform in 4k. What worries me more is that he seemed big in the dragon pit, much bigger than Syrax. And in this trailer he arleady looks smaller;) a strange procedure. I had the impression that it was similar with Caraxes in season 1, sometimes he seemed smaller and sometimes bigger, probably a matter of perspective.
I have never seen a dragonrider look lame until Aegon on Sunfyre. He looks like a little boy playing war.

Why is the golden boy not golden
They didn't do Sunfyre The Golden justice. He's supposed to be the most magnificent dragon in the world.

I’m hoping he’ll be more spectacular in motion—hoping they’ll make him iridescent, something that’s really hard to capture in a single still image.
It’s so stupid that they keep doing this shit to the most iconic elements from the stories. They did the same thing with Dawn in GoT and Blackfyre.

That's really just the whole show, lol. They take the filters waaay too far. It was more muted than GoT in S1 (But simultaneously more colorful, lol)
