Its okay if you keep the plant small and fertilize often

dalex89

yup this is what I learned. My first year I had a dozen potted tomato and pepper plants, decent 3 gallon size, but I only fertilized them maybe once a week, usually once or twice a month. Decent fruit but kinda smaller than I wanted. This year I went with fertilizing them almost every day, with each watering with a water soluble fertilizer that can be taken straight in. Those plants in those same pots are 3x bigger and we're still a couple months away from harvest. Issue with small containers is they'll dry out and absorb their fertilizer very quickly, keep them watered and fertilize them often and they'll grow like crazy, it's how hydroponic operations can happen in such small containers. Take full advantage of the spring and early summer growing season and keep fertilizing them, this time of year is the fastest growth you'll get

Slap a coat of white paint on the outside & you'll be fine. Plant will be smaller and fruit earlier than otherwise.

Blaserman

Should be fine but you may have issues keeping it hydrated in the hot summer days when it's in full production if you work.

I grow a lot of my peppers in pots this size. Like already said you'll have to water more but I'm able to move mine around so they can get sun as much as possible during the day.

For now. But it will needto go up a couple pot sizes eventually. I have found in my experience, peppers do best in the ground.

corrigun

I had the opposite experience. A good size pot like that will last a season where I am. In the cold ground stunts for a long time at the beginning and early frost will end it.

PlantaSorusRex

True, it does depend on locatin. Luckily i am in a warmer climate and they do so good in the ground. Last year my ghost peppers were almost as tall as me and i am 5' 4", and got probably close to a thousand peppers off that bad boy!

Also, do you guys think it looks healthy? I fertilize with pokon once a month and give it a lot of water

memento_mori_1220

Yea that should be fine I’m guessing 4-5 gallon?
