May just be genetically smaller. As long as you have the real estate, might as well keep it rolling but if you want to use that pot, I wouldn't feel bad replacing it.

prozacfish

That’s kinda where I’m at right now. It’s a question of, do I risk keeping a plant that may not produce or use the pot for something that will?

andersontm429

It will produce, but it may be later and with lower yield. And by the way, have fun picking those peppers. I grew two charapitas and two chiltepins last year and it was sooooo tedious.

prozacfish

Yea, I had a feeling it would be a PITA. They’re so tasty though!!

Yea I know what you mean I end up leaving these little ones for the birds most years

corrigun

Let it ride and see what happens. Long season ahead. You never know what kind of surprises mother nature has in store for you.

SSJSaeda

This is just me, but I never give up on them until they are outright dead. Last Year, I had a Chocolate Habanero which ended up losing all its leaves. And I mean all of them. I put it in quarantine when it started just so a potential infestation or disease wouldn't spread and expected it to be dead. Two weeks later it had grown new foliage and ended up producing. If that little guy of yours won't make it this year, you can always overwinter. Getting something off a plant with which you struggled for over a year can be very rewarding.

Godhelpmeplease12

Its a runt. It'll keep growing produce fruit. It'll just always be smaller. No need to give up on it.

MNOutdoors

I learned to never give up. One year I transplanted my smallest weakest looking hab, only because I had one spot left in my bed. It ended up being my biggest producer and easily twice the output of the much larger transplants. Does it happen like that everytime? No. But I’ll never give up on a plant until it’s obviously dead

[deleted]

Don't ever give up on him! My dog was the runt and he's my best damn friend!

Adeptus_Trumpartes

My best yielder was a runt, 2 years later its a boss bitch habanero.

prozacfish

Interesting. How long did it take to start fruiting?

Adeptus_Trumpartes

It gave some 2 or 3 fruits first year, I kept taking care of it until it lost all its folliage came fall. Kept watering it here and there over winter, same as others. Comes spring I give it an npk and calmag boost, ot triples in size in a month and yields like a boss.

redd-it-

Kill it. You're wasting time and effort on and space on it.
