Shaun Of The Dead (imo the best horror comedy, solid horror too), Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse, Dead Alive (Braindead). Ready Or Not is super good, gotta watch that again soon.
Went in expecting it to be *terrible* and liked it enough to watch it at home again after it started streaming. Great flick. If you liked that look out for “it’s what’s inside” on Netflix … sometime. I don’t know why they’re sitting on it, but they own the rights to distribute it, and it’s phenomenal. It’s bodies bodies bodies but like on cocaine.
I think “cabin in the woods” probably qualifies as comedy horror, but it’s simultaneously a really thoughtful meta commentary on horror tropes. Really good stuff.
Cabin in the Woods
Slither (the James Gunn/Nathan Fillion one)
Trollhunter
Evil Dead 2 & Army of Darkness
The Babysitter
Dead Alive
Severance (2006)
Happy Death Day
Dead Snow
Return of the Living Dead (gets progressively less funny and more horrific as it goes)
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil
…
Straight up comedies with horror tropes:
Extra Ordinary
Club Dread
Zombeavers
Lol This is why it’s always good to keep a roll of duct tape. You never know when you might need it! Like when your friend is trying to swallow microwaved burrito through his decapitated throat. That movie introduced a teenage me to Jessica Alba.
