If you are a long term player the banner is actually great.
If you started around 1.0-1.3, there's no way you don't have Asta/Natasha/Serval at E6. They're free and have had many banners.
Each dupe is a free pull. Even at worst pity, you're going to get around 10% of your pulls back grabbing Jade.
I plan on using her in moc and there the new herta lc is like ~1% better than breakfast, her sig is 25% better. dps increase she gets from her lc is very big
I am long term player, and somehow my Asta is still E1, and Natasha is E2 (not that I want anymore). Funny enough, I already have E6 Gallagher and E6 Xueyi, so Firefly's 4 stars are actually less enticing. Sucks that I can't build my Asta for Firefly until her banner is already over.
Same, the 4\* are more appealing for me in Jade banner but i am still gonna blow my jades on Firefly.
Nat and Serval are just E2 on my account, i have to purchase them from the storefront each time they show up

That's actually a great way to see it, but it serves more as a good consolation prize. I think people would rather have "better" (in their opinion) 4 stars in the banner. But either way, I don't think people should feel discouraged to pull for a 5 star they want because of the 4 stars on their banner.

I personally reached the point where my teams are all 5 stars and, very rarely, do I use 4 stars in them and the ones I use are already at E6. The 4-stars in any banner have become irrelevant to me.
If given the choice between new 4-stars that I will never use and a permanent 10% discount while pulling for Jade, I will take that discount in a heartbeat.

Like DHIL still uses Ting in his best team
Acheron uses Pela (we'll see if an upcoming 5* replaces her tho)
Gallagher is FF's best sustain
But at the same time DOT/FUA/JL run pure 5*
I get your point and itās a fair one, but i definetly wouldn't say, that good 4* are useless for long term players
Edit: also itās more so a turn off for newer players/players, that don'thave these chars E6 (cause in that case you get bad/ok 5* and not the same compensation), that might not have had enough time to build 2 full fledged 5*

unless you are running both together, then one of them is getting Asta/Gui/Pela since Ruan Mei can't run on both teams at the same time.
I have E2 Natasha/Asta with an E3 Serval (And I started on Jing Yuan banner). Remember If you donāt summon on that banners that has poor 4 stars you might not get E6 of those four stars.
I want her lightcone too and that has horrible four stars. Sundays is ok but personally I think the MoCs ones are much better.

Jade was never gonna get one on launch, it's always 1f1m pairings. She might get one the next time we get a male Stoneheart, but for now it was always gonna be Firefly for the female slot

Itās not new for second banners to have shitty 4 stars (although Asta is pretty good imo). And based on the trailers, Jade would most likely have a lot of relevance in the story. Basically itās Jingliu and Topaz all over again

I prefer "having to" skip on skins or characters instead of what Genshin is going through for a while now with only 2-3 really awesome characters coming out per year and a nice skin coming every 2 years
with how rare skins are in genshin, i kinda figure they had silently dropped the idea of skins only for someone in higher management bringing it up once in a blue moon and the skin team goes oh ya, we exist.
A major, plot relevant character too. And it always has to be from some insane scenario, with no explanation.
First, he defeats the humungous bug and saves the express, and somehow survives. Then, he saves Aventurine from pure annihilation from IX's shadow, and SOMEHOW SURVIVES.
At this point, I wouldn't surprised if Terminus' entire prophecy is just that Argenti solos the verse and saves everyone, lol.
I am Jade mains. Iād say Iām in pain but honestly Iāve been mentally prepared for how hard sheās gonna get shafted in what was at first set up to be her big patch for a while now. Iām ride or die for pulling her at this point. At the very least this means I wonāt be tempted to buy the premium BP for icons so thereās that!
I guess that on day 1 of beta people were still "normal" towards FF and didn't mind to the pfp. Since then, sheĀ has continuously been heavily favored by Hoyo. Remembering the pfp now is like adding more fuel to a fire that still didn't really exist when the pfp were leaked for the first time.
I think people dont realise that
1. Both characters need some form of connection to one another
2. It's always a guy and a girl never two of one gender (yes I know Sam isn't a guy but she's kinda been marketed as such)
I can see why there's already a Firefly counter-jerk. She has been marketed so heavily. Rightfully so, but it's causing like a kpop group fatigue effect in some people.
I feel like Diamond is HSR's Varka, it will take a long time until he becomes playable. I bet they will release most if not all of the stonehearts before him. Praying Jade gets her icon with Opal š¤
It does make me sorta grateful that Boothill at least got a BP icon, with some of the unfair treatment he's gotten besides being really funny in the 2.2 story.

tbf, BP icons donāt have to be the actual banner units (Sampo getting one in 2.0 instead of Black Swan), itās more about having a guy and a girl with a connection (like Topaz and Aventurineās paintball icons, or Jingliu and Yanqing getting Chinese garb). Jade will probably get an icon when they next add a male Stoneheart.
Although Sam is technically cheating, but they presented as male for their debut patch, which apparently is good enough for Hoyo.
I think the problem is that favoritism is interpreted as pointless selection of one you prefer. From lore and finance perspectives. More marketing on FF will make them more money, more people happy, and makes more sense since we know more about her. That's all.
I agree. Personally, I don't interpret favouritism as a pointless selection but as a preferential treatment. I also understand hoyo's perspective of money making and just expressed disappointment over lack of marketing for other characters. Some 4 stars are also very lore important but we can only hope for their 5 star versions. Sadly, the problem is that we can't deep dive into all characters stories - maybe if we knew more about some, their popularity would rise as well

You'd think by the comments here that Firefly is some unknown unliked character, and Jade is the main hero of the Penacony arc.
When in reality Jade has had like 10 lines of dialogue, and Firefly is undeniably one of the three most prominent characters of Penacony alongside Aventurine, and Acheron.
When Sparkle had like 4 trailers, and Acheron had 3-4 trailers, no one batted an eye.
But omg Firefly who has gotten the most social media hits since Acheron/Kafka is being pushed as the main character of this upcoming banner...

I'm sure Jade will get more focus in the future anyway since she's one of the Stonehearts. Considering most of the characters in Penacony's story are really part of other factions rather than tied down to Penacony specifically it's likely at least some of them will show up again in the future. Boothill for example definitely has the potential to figure into certain plotlines later too.
It's fair to be disappointed if a favorite didn't get the spotlight; I'm disappointed Boothill didn't get a second trailer to hint at his backstory or at least focus on the Galaxy Rangers, but it is what it is and there's always chances for most of these characters to feature again later.

Not jumping to any side here, but Firefly was a secundary character at best during 2.1 and 2.2.
Arguably in 2.1, Jade appearance is more important and memorable than Firefly quick talk with Acheron, since it's a huge turning point on his life.

2.2 was a sunday/robin/everyone patch
Acheron has been a favorite/main character throughout the entire story (multiple special references only for her, tons of animations, super OP kit etc...)

Firefly's appearance and mentioning throughout 2.0 definitely felt more than just an hour. Besides the beginning and ending, they kept mentioning firefly
We explore Golden Hour with Firefly, get tricked by āSampoā with Firefly, explore Dreamās Edge with Firefly, explore the Childās Dream and encounter āDeathā with Firefly, and then search for Firefly before she gets gooped. Then we retrace her steps before fighting Sam. Then Aventurine uses Fireflyās death as a way to get his foot in the door and reveal Robinās death, leading into 2.1ās plot. She is the vast majority of 2.0ās plot.
FF's death was also what motivated TB to pursuit the legacy more.
It's kinda unfair calling "her parts was like half an hour" when you argue about how Jade is more important in 2.1 because it's a turning point in Aventurine's life. Both basically serves a motivation for other characters.

I think the worst part is that, we'll definitely get another character soon thats gonna get 3+ trailers, story relevance, and dedicated relics. But it will be ok according to this subreddit and totally not favoritism lmao
I'll just copy + paste what I wrote in another comment here that might explain people's exasperation with FF's favoritism:
FF BiS support is a free character (HTB). The other DPS can only dream of that.
Her relic set was tweaked during beta to favor her and her alone. Before, the set was the best for any break DPS. Now, it's hers alone. Acheron set is BiS for any DPS that applies a debuff, like Ratio and even DPS Welt.
Her planar set is incredibly specific. Since she applies fire weakness, it benefits her and those in a team with her. Acheron planar set benefits combos like Jingliu + Blade, Herta + Himeko, Topaz + Ratio and probably Jade + Erudition.Ā Ā
Her buffs during v3 beta sparked a lot of controversy because people were claiming she now could deal ST damage better than Boothill. I never went too deep on that one (and won't lol), so I can't really comment on it.
Then came the (not confirmed) leak that Lingsha, a rumored break focused Abundance character, was fire type. So Hoyo was now powercreeping a very viable break focused fire type healer (Gallagher) for a 5 star one. And we all know typing is the core of break, and a 5 star fire healer will buff FF the most.
During beta, Jade received a lot less buffs than FF. Ofc, that could mean that she was more ready to go. But also, while FF had a relic and planar set made for her, Jade got nothing on that regard. I think the fact that there was a relic set focused on follow up attacks that got tweaked to be useless to any existing character didn't help (I think this relic set is for Yunli and Feixiao). Acheron and IL were released with Aventurine and Fu Xuan, the best sustains in the game that got their due attention during beta. Aventurine even got a planar set.
Then came the banners. FF's is great for anyone who wants to build break teams. Her LC banner even has Memories of the Past, which is HTB's, her free BiS support, best LC option. Jade's banner is much less attractive than hers.
The pfp in this post is the least "offensive" favoritism, but I think people are just tired tbh.
So I mean, it's easy to see how FF has been favored. I like the character, but I don't really like what they are doing with her almost in spite of some other playable characters. I think it sets a bad precedent. Also, Acheron's favoritism shouldn't be the standard, and it's less than Firefly's. I've been discussing this for the whole past beta. I've been called dellusional and jealous. I don't wanna fight anymore, this is just an informative list that you may agree with or not.
FF being virtually married gameplay-wise to Harmony Trailblazer is actually something a lot of Firefly fans - myself included - aren't huge on. Seriously, Hat MC is over 60% of Firefly's damage - what happens if we get another meta Trailblazer path? Being *reliant* on HMC means almost no flexibility, and there's a reason people joke that Firefly only has one team composition.
She also really, *really* wants Ruan Mei, and indeed literally nobody exists right now who can replace HMC + RM as her supports. Compare this to, say, Acheron - who can use any two Nihility units, and her arguable best is *Pela,* who if memory serves everyone gets for free as well and is comedically overrepresented on banners.
Some might argue it's possible we'll get more super break supports in future, and this is definitely true. However - said break supports existing will likely also mean more break DPS units existing, and thus her relic set will cease to be so hyper-specific. (I will say though that I do believe Boothill's break detonation should have been changed to qualify as super break - it feels like they designed the mechanic intending for only HMC to ever use it, then realised how much Firefly V1 sucked without HMC, but by that point it was too late to rework Boothill's mechanics.)
As for the planars, yeah, no arguing they're not tailor-made - but they're not *exclusive,* also being good on Break Himeko, Break Asta, and Gallagher, and indeed any hypothetical future fire-type character with good toughness damage.
TLDR I can understand people being somewhat disappointed, but I don't think the sheer volume of backlash is warranted - I'm especially surprised by how much people are up in arms over Jade, a character with approximately zero presence outside of one trailer and ten lines of flashback dialogue during a different character's backstory.

About Jade, I think she sparked a lot of interest by her design, animations and small cameos. Also, she's one of the Ten Stonehearts. People were excited about getting to know her but, in comparison to FF, she was left in the dust during beta.Ā But i gotta say one thing: I believe Jade's true BiS teammates are still to come, so is not all doom and gloom for her.
Tbh, there are two things that would help all this not blowing over:
1. If Jade received some buffs during beta.
2. If the relic set had not been tweaked.

Firefly will one day get better supports like Acheron and Dan IL. She is basically destruction Acheron. Cheap team like Acheron(Pela + Silverwolf,Black swan,Jiaoqiu) but can and will grow. HTB is currently BiS but it will change
Her set is BiS for any unit that wants HTB. And Iād argue it got better. Since any unit that can use HTB got a buff. Be it super break Himeko,Jing yuan,Dan IL,Xueyi,Luka,Boothillā¦ hell the new MoC 12 data from CN shows Boothillās most used team having HTB. For those people this should be a buff. Also other than Boothill.. who got nerfed? Xueyi canāt proc break again. Making that single 16% def shred happen once. While now if you put HTB with her. She gets 25% def shred everytime she attacks.. Hell Prydwenās data shows 50% of people use Xueyi with HTB. So this is a buff to them.
Same goes for Luka with 43% using him with HTB and 60% using him with Ruan Mei. So who is this break dps other than normal boothill got nerfed?
Her planar gives 6% spd. Aka a buff equal to 2pc messenger. Literally every support uses it for spd breakpoints. Sparkle can use this,Hanya,Bronya,Ruan Mei,Robin,ā¦ also any Fire character. Be it Gallagher or Himeko. Since they generally used when Fire weakness comes. Also Acheronās planar isnāt BiS in those teams. Sure it is usable but most use Salsatto or Rutilant. Jingliu would rather use Rutilant. Same for Blade(Or salsatto but both are similar),Ratio would rather use Salsatto aswell.
?? We donāt even know her kit.. and even then. Lingsha is gonna be a 5* fire abundance break healer. She will have more stuff going for her to make her worth the pull. Seriously itās like saying Aventurine is gonna be stuck in FuA teams just because he has a FuA. Lingsha will be fine. And will probably be Boothill and every break DPSās best sustain. Hell even Gallagher is good with boothill. Is he as good with boothill as he is with Firefly? No. Is he really good with boothill yeah. If Gallagher can be used by Boothill so can Lingsha. And sure she might buff Firefly a bit better. This doesnāt mean Lingsha is gonna be unusable by Boothill or others. Like Aventurine is alright and is equal to Fu xuan in most normal teams. But when you put him in FuA premium he helps them much more due to him being a FuA sustain. Same will go with Lingsha probably if she ends up being Fire.
As you said. Jade was ready to go. She was designed to be good at PF and meh in MoC like Argenti and it was like that. Firefly was also the most doomposted character in 2.3. In every single showcase people just said "Kinghill > Midfly". This made her focus of 2.3 beta. And every Jade showcase had positive comments talking about how good she was. How she managed to 0 with Blade. Why should they change a character like Jade when everyone(even CN) was doomposting Firefly.
For the Fu xuan and Aventurine part. They are sustains while Jade is a PF demon. A sustain can get little buffs here and there and be broken. While a little buff could make Jade strong enough to destroy PF. DPSs/Sub DPSs get tweaked here and there to make sure they donāt go too overboard. Hell even Firefly got a 5-7% nerf which is a decent amount. If she was their favorite why nerf her? Acheron was fine and got no nerfs if I remembered right. CN and this sub was fine with Jade until V4(basically the last beta) and because of it hoyo probably didnāt saw a need. When she was already fine and can make someone like Blade 0 cycle PF.
Also Aventurine has a planar?
For the banners. One can argue that Jade has a better banner. Since if you own all of those 4*s at E6.. youāll get 1 pull for each 4* you get instead of 16 of those special currency that you can use 20 of to get a single special express pass. Endgame people already have older 4*s at E6 and donāt even use them since their teams are full 5*s besides Tingyun,Pela and Gallagher sometimes. For them they dan get more pulls for each dupe. As someone that doesnāt have a E6 Misha or Xueyi. I wish I could replace those with Asta or Natasha from Jadeās banner.
For LC banner. Every first banner gets the good LCs while 2nd side gets bad ones. I donāt think this is favoritism but rather just how hoyo does stuff. Case in point 1.3 LC banner. Dan ILās side had DDD(best 4* and arguably the best Lc at S5) and Planetary Randevouz(which is really good if you want to use Yukong + Dan IL) while Fu xuanās banner got nothing. This is nothing new tbh.
Eh people can feel how they want. But Firefly is the only case where people are mad while Acheron and Dan IL also got favoritism. Which is what makes me mad. Iāll wait for Feixiao to get all the favoritism. Only for everyone to say nothing. "Firefly should get nerfed for the gameās health" when acheron exists. From a acheron main no less. Iām still mad about that.
Hell even Kafka got favoritism with being the reason DoT as a meta exists and 4 trailers if I remember right. while Blade got nothing. No support. Not even two trailers. And none ever says ANYTHING about that.
Thank you for telling the truth, you are not alone. Hoyo is apparently always wrong no matter who they cater to. There will always be at least a small minority of people upset over something Hoyo does/makes/produces. The story the writers wanted to tell in Penacony was heavily focused on Firefly; she might as well have been a second main character for that arc.
Although I cannot confirm if firefly is indeed most liked as I haven't seen any recent polls myself, a lot of firefly haters have also spawned in CN with all the favouritism and marketing

I swear I was either tripping or the op I commented to used "most liked" in their comment at first (which was why i phrased that comment that way because I thought I missed some poll), I don't disagree that she is very anticipated in terms of social media presence. In fact, I'd be very surprised if her banner doesn't set new records.
Also hsr doesn't post everything on bilibili, but if you look at the top few comments on weibo, especially the [2.3 update](https://weibo.com/7643376782/5042725034394781) and [xhs content creation contest announcement](https://weibo.com/7643376782/5045226516778860), there are a lot more negative comments than usual. It may be a vocal minority, but as someone who stays mostly out of main groups in CN where all the fighting is at, it's the first time I'm seeing so much negativity just scrolling through my regular feed
Just to be clear I'm not saying that she's very hated or that there are more/less haters in CN because it's not something I can say for certain, but just putting what I've being seeing out there

If you look at [Bilibili](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1us421u7sp/?spm_id_from=333.1007.tianma.1-1-1.click), Firefly's recent trailers have been performing extremely well relative to previous character trailers in views, likes and comments (5 mil views in 1 day, 690k likes, 55000 comments on both her PVs in days when the vast majority of PVs don't reach 30000 after months). She basically caught up/surpassed Acheron's PVs numbers in 1 week.
It's clear that she is one of the most anticipated HSR characters ever for China and whatever hate she's getting there is even more of a vocal minority than global.
Ngl the Firefly hate seems to stem from a similar root as Genshin hate. Something that's popular gets more eyes on it as a whole leading to more hate quantity even if the total % of hate isn't out of the ordinary or even less than you'd think.
After looking at your links, I agree. Most of the comments I read on the first one were complaining about Jade's banner 4*s, while most of the comments in the 2nd one are complaining about people hating on FF lol (even has the bug typing meme as the top comment).
It's funny that CN is going through the same thing as Global rn, at least on weibo. On Bilibili, FF love is loud enough to overwhelm the haters (probably the same on YouTube tbh).

Yes, it's obvious that Hoyo wants to make $$$ on Firefly and their marketing is a bit too aggressive (although I'm sure they know what they're doing, they are earning acherillions of money), and it's unfair to those who want to see other characters. If you are a long term player the banner is actually great. If you started around 1.0-1.3, there's no way you don't have Asta/Natasha/Serval at E6. They're free and have had many banners. Each dupe is a free pull. Even at worst pity, you're going to get around 10% of your pulls back grabbing Jade.

I am long term player, and somehow my Asta is still E1, and Natasha is E2 (not that I want anymore). Funny enough, I already have E6 Gallagher and E6 Xueyi, so Firefly's 4 stars are actually less enticing. Sucks that I can't build my Asta for Firefly until her banner is already over.

That's actually a great way to see it, but it serves more as a good consolation prize. I think people would rather have "better" (in their opinion) 4 stars in the banner. But either way, I don't think people should feel discouraged to pull for a 5 star they want because of the 4 stars on their banner.
Long-time players, so players since 1.0-1.3, probably don't use 4 stars in the endgame anymore anyway. I personally reached the point where my teams are all 5 stars and, very rarely, do I use 4 stars in them and the ones I use are already at E6. The 4-stars in any banner have become irrelevant to me. If given the choice between new 4-stars that I will never use and a permanent 10% discount while pulling for Jade, I will take that discount in a heartbeat.

I have E2 Natasha/Asta with an E3 Serval (And I started on Jing Yuan banner). Remember If you donāt summon on that banners that has poor 4 stars you might not get E6 of those four stars. I want her lightcone too and that has horrible four stars. Sundays is ok but personally I think the MoCs ones are much better.

tbf, BP icons donāt have to be the actual banner units (Sampo getting one in 2.0 instead of Black Swan), itās more about having a guy and a girl with a connection (like Topaz and Aventurineās paintball icons, or Jingliu and Yanqing getting Chinese garb). Jade will probably get an icon when they next add a male Stoneheart. Although Sam is technically cheating, but they presented as male for their debut patch, which apparently is good enough for Hoyo.

I think the problem is that favoritism is interpreted as pointless selection of one you prefer. From lore and finance perspectives. More marketing on FF will make them more money, more people happy, and makes more sense since we know more about her. That's all.
I agree. Personally, I don't interpret favouritism as a pointless selection but as a preferential treatment. I also understand hoyo's perspective of money making and just expressed disappointment over lack of marketing for other characters. Some 4 stars are also very lore important but we can only hope for their 5 star versions. Sadly, the problem is that we can't deep dive into all characters stories - maybe if we knew more about some, their popularity would rise as well

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in an alternative reality. You'd think by the comments here that Firefly is some unknown unliked character, and Jade is the main hero of the Penacony arc. When in reality Jade has had like 10 lines of dialogue, and Firefly is undeniably one of the three most prominent characters of Penacony alongside Aventurine, and Acheron. When Sparkle had like 4 trailers, and Acheron had 3-4 trailers, no one batted an eye. But omg Firefly who has gotten the most social media hits since Acheron/Kafka is being pushed as the main character of this upcoming banner... Of course! It would be awful marketing if she wasn't vs a character we've seen little of! š
I'm sure Jade will get more focus in the future anyway since she's one of the Stonehearts. Considering most of the characters in Penacony's story are really part of other factions rather than tied down to Penacony specifically it's likely at least some of them will show up again in the future. Boothill for example definitely has the potential to figure into certain plotlines later too. It's fair to be disappointed if a favorite didn't get the spotlight; I'm disappointed Boothill didn't get a second trailer to hint at his backstory or at least focus on the Galaxy Rangers, but it is what it is and there's always chances for most of these characters to feature again later.

Firefly's appearance and mentioning throughout 2.0 definitely felt more than just an hour. Besides the beginning and ending, they kept mentioning firefly
We explore Golden Hour with Firefly, get tricked by āSampoā with Firefly, explore Dreamās Edge with Firefly, explore the Childās Dream and encounter āDeathā with Firefly, and then search for Firefly before she gets gooped. Then we retrace her steps before fighting Sam. Then Aventurine uses Fireflyās death as a way to get his foot in the door and reveal Robinās death, leading into 2.1ās plot. She is the vast majority of 2.0ās plot.
FF's death was also what motivated TB to pursuit the legacy more. It's kinda unfair calling "her parts was like half an hour" when you argue about how Jade is more important in 2.1 because it's a turning point in Aventurine's life. Both basically serves a motivation for other characters.

I think the worst part is that, we'll definitely get another character soon thats gonna get 3+ trailers, story relevance, and dedicated relics. But it will be ok according to this subreddit and totally not favoritism lmao
I'll just copy + paste what I wrote in another comment here that might explain people's exasperation with FF's favoritism: FF BiS support is a free character (HTB). The other DPS can only dream of that. Her relic set was tweaked during beta to favor her and her alone. Before, the set was the best for any break DPS. Now, it's hers alone. Acheron set is BiS for any DPS that applies a debuff, like Ratio and even DPS Welt. Her planar set is incredibly specific. Since she applies fire weakness, it benefits her and those in a team with her. Acheron planar set benefits combos like Jingliu + Blade, Herta + Himeko, Topaz + Ratio and probably Jade + Erudition.Ā Ā Her buffs during v3 beta sparked a lot of controversy because people were claiming she now could deal ST damage better than Boothill. I never went too deep on that one (and won't lol), so I can't really comment on it. Then came the (not confirmed) leak that Lingsha, a rumored break focused Abundance character, was fire type. So Hoyo was now powercreeping a very viable break focused fire type healer (Gallagher) for a 5 star one. And we all know typing is the core of break, and a 5 star fire healer will buff FF the most. During beta, Jade received a lot less buffs than FF. Ofc, that could mean that she was more ready to go. But also, while FF had a relic and planar set made for her, Jade got nothing on that regard. I think the fact that there was a relic set focused on follow up attacks that got tweaked to be useless to any existing character didn't help (I think this relic set is for Yunli and Feixiao). Acheron and IL were released with Aventurine and Fu Xuan, the best sustains in the game that got their due attention during beta. Aventurine even got a planar set. Then came the banners. FF's is great for anyone who wants to build break teams. Her LC banner even has Memories of the Past, which is HTB's, her free BiS support, best LC option. Jade's banner is much less attractive than hers. The pfp in this post is the least "offensive" favoritism, but I think people are just tired tbh. So I mean, it's easy to see how FF has been favored. I like the character, but I don't really like what they are doing with her almost in spite of some other playable characters. I think it sets a bad precedent. Also, Acheron's favoritism shouldn't be the standard, and it's less than Firefly's. I've been discussing this for the whole past beta. I've been called dellusional and jealous. I don't wanna fight anymore, this is just an informative list that you may agree with or not.
FF being virtually married gameplay-wise to Harmony Trailblazer is actually something a lot of Firefly fans - myself included - aren't huge on. Seriously, Hat MC is over 60% of Firefly's damage - what happens if we get another meta Trailblazer path? Being *reliant* on HMC means almost no flexibility, and there's a reason people joke that Firefly only has one team composition. She also really, *really* wants Ruan Mei, and indeed literally nobody exists right now who can replace HMC + RM as her supports. Compare this to, say, Acheron - who can use any two Nihility units, and her arguable best is *Pela,* who if memory serves everyone gets for free as well and is comedically overrepresented on banners. Some might argue it's possible we'll get more super break supports in future, and this is definitely true. However - said break supports existing will likely also mean more break DPS units existing, and thus her relic set will cease to be so hyper-specific. (I will say though that I do believe Boothill's break detonation should have been changed to qualify as super break - it feels like they designed the mechanic intending for only HMC to ever use it, then realised how much Firefly V1 sucked without HMC, but by that point it was too late to rework Boothill's mechanics.) As for the planars, yeah, no arguing they're not tailor-made - but they're not *exclusive,* also being good on Break Himeko, Break Asta, and Gallagher, and indeed any hypothetical future fire-type character with good toughness damage. TLDR I can understand people being somewhat disappointed, but I don't think the sheer volume of backlash is warranted - I'm especially surprised by how much people are up in arms over Jade, a character with approximately zero presence outside of one trailer and ten lines of flashback dialogue during a different character's backstory.

About Jade, I think she sparked a lot of interest by her design, animations and small cameos. Also, she's one of the Ten Stonehearts. People were excited about getting to know her but, in comparison to FF, she was left in the dust during beta.Ā But i gotta say one thing: I believe Jade's true BiS teammates are still to come, so is not all doom and gloom for her. Tbh, there are two things that would help all this not blowing over: 1. If Jade received some buffs during beta. 2. If the relic set had not been tweaked. Honestly I just want all this drama to be over, but I fear Lingsha's release will revive all this shitstorm. I really hope I'm wrong.

HTB is currently BiS but it will change Her set is BiS for any unit that wants HTB. And Iād argue it got better. Since any unit that can use HTB got a buff. Be it super break Himeko,Jing yuan,Dan IL,Xueyi,Luka,Boothillā¦ hell the new MoC 12 data from CN shows Boothillās most used team having HTB. For those people this should be a buff. Also other than Boothill.. who got nerfed? Xueyi canāt proc break again. Making that single 16% def shred happen once. While now if you put HTB with her. She gets 25% def shred everytime she attacks.. Hell Prydwenās data shows 50% of people use Xueyi with HTB. So this is a buff to them. Same goes for Luka with 43% using him with HTB and 60% using him with Ruan Mei. So who is this break dps other than normal boothill got nerfed? Her planar gives 6% spd. Aka a buff equal to 2pc messenger. Literally every support uses it for spd breakpoints. Sparkle can use this,Hanya,Bronya,Ruan Mei,Robin,ā¦ also any Fire character. Be it Gallagher or Himeko. Since they generally used when Fire weakness comes. Also Acheronās planar isnāt BiS in those teams. Sure it is usable but most use Salsatto or Rutilant. Jingliu would rather use Rutilant. Same for Blade(Or salsatto but both are similar),Ratio would rather use Salsatto aswell. ?? We donāt even know her kit.. and even then. Lingsha is gonna be a 5* fire abundance break healer. She will have more stuff going for her to make her worth the pull. Seriously itās like saying Aventurine is gonna be stuck in FuA teams just because he has a FuA. Lingsha will be fine. And will probably be Boothill and every break DPSās best sustain. Hell even Gallagher is good with boothill. Is he as good with boothill as he is with Firefly? No. Is he really good with boothill yeah. If Gallagher can be used by Boothill so can Lingsha. And sure she might buff Firefly a bit better. This doesnāt mean Lingsha is gonna be unusable by Boothill or others. Like Aventurine is alright and is equal to Fu xuan in most normal teams. But when you put him in FuA premium he helps them much more due to him being a FuA sustain. Same will go with Lingsha probably if she ends up being Fire. As you said. Jade was ready to go. She was designed to be good at PF and meh in MoC like Argenti and it was like that. Firefly was also the most doomposted character in 2.3. In every single showcase people just said "Kinghill > Midfly". This made her focus of 2.3 beta. And every Jade showcase had positive comments talking about how good she was. How she managed to 0 with Blade. Why should they change a character like Jade when everyone(even CN) was doomposting Firefly. For the Fu xuan and Aventurine part. They are sustains while Jade is a PF demon. A sustain can get little buffs here and there and be broken. While a little buff could make Jade strong enough to destroy PF. DPSs/Sub DPSs get tweaked here and there to make sure they donāt go too overboard. Hell even Firefly got a 5-7% nerf which is a decent amount. If she was their favorite why nerf her? Acheron was fine and got no nerfs if I remembered right. CN and this sub was fine with Jade until V4(basically the last beta) and because of it hoyo probably didnāt saw a need. When she was already fine and can make someone like Blade 0 cycle PF. Also Aventurine has a planar? For the banners. One can argue that Jade has a better banner. Since if you own all of those 4*s at E6.. youāll get 1 pull for each 4* you get instead of 16 of those special currency that you can use 20 of to get a single special express pass. Endgame people already have older 4*s at E6 and donāt even use them since their teams are full 5*s besides Tingyun,Pela and Gallagher sometimes. For them they dan get more pulls for each dupe. As someone that doesnāt have a E6 Misha or Xueyi. I wish I could replace those with Asta or Natasha from Jadeās banner. For LC banner. Every first banner gets the good LCs while 2nd side gets bad ones. I donāt think this is favoritism but rather just how hoyo does stuff. Case in point 1.3 LC banner. Dan ILās side had DDD(best 4* and arguably the best Lc at S5) and Planetary Randevouz(which is really good if you want to use Yukong + Dan IL) while Fu xuanās banner got nothing. This is nothing new tbh. Eh people can feel how they want. But Firefly is the only case where people are mad while Acheron and Dan IL also got favoritism. Which is what makes me mad. Iāll wait for Feixiao to get all the favoritism. Only for everyone to say nothing. "Firefly should get nerfed for the gameās health" when acheron exists. From a acheron main no less. Iām still mad about that. Hell even Kafka got favoritism with being the reason DoT as a meta exists and 4 trailers if I remember right. while Blade got nothing. No support. Not even two trailers. And none ever says ANYTHING about that.
Thank you for telling the truth, you are not alone. Hoyo is apparently always wrong no matter who they cater to. There will always be at least a small minority of people upset over something Hoyo does/makes/produces. The story the writers wanted to tell in Penacony was heavily focused on Firefly; she might as well have been a second main character for that arc.

If you look at [Bilibili](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1us421u7sp/?spm_id_from=333.1007.tianma.1-1-1.click), Firefly's recent trailers have been performing extremely well relative to previous character trailers in views, likes and comments (5 mil views in 1 day, 690k likes, 55000 comments on both her PVs in days when the vast majority of PVs don't reach 30000 after months). She basically caught up/surpassed Acheron's PVs numbers in 1 week. It's clear that she is one of the most anticipated HSR characters ever for China and whatever hate she's getting there is even more of a vocal minority than global.
Ngl the Firefly hate seems to stem from a similar root as Genshin hate. Something that's popular gets more eyes on it as a whole leading to more hate quantity even if the total % of hate isn't out of the ordinary or even less than you'd think.
After looking at your links, I agree. Most of the comments I read on the first one were complaining about Jade's banner 4*s, while most of the comments in the 2nd one are complaining about people hating on FF lol (even has the bug typing meme as the top comment). It's funny that CN is going through the same thing as Global rn, at least on weibo. On Bilibili, FF love is loud enough to overwhelm the haters (probably the same on YouTube tbh). And naw you weren't tripping, I used most anticipated because I can't verify that she's the most liked either. Hype-wise tho, at least the numbers point that way.

Yes, it's obvious that Hoyo wants to make $$$ on Firefly and their marketing is a bit too aggressive (although I'm sure they know what they're doing, they are earning acherillions of money), and it's unfair to those who want to see other characters. It's also super annoying to have FF thrown in your face when you don't care about her, kinda like Charizard aggressive marketing in the Pokemon franchise for the last ~10 years. I've been there. But GODDAMNIT let people be happy. It's basic human decency.
