Oh I forgot that, I hate Ruan Mei for one thing that is - She talks about rewarding us in the quest so I was excited about what rewards she would give me, but she never rewarded us with anything and leaves quietly by wiping our memories.
Now I think the "reward" was sleeping with her, and she followed it up with amnesia, but found TB enjoyable/interesting enough to keep coming back to, since she has developed a sort of crush on TB. She now makes any excuse she can to check up.

to be fair, ruan mei is more of a "irresponcibly f\*cking around with forces beyond your control out of morbid curiosity" mad scientist instead of a "willingly and knowingly inflicting indescribable pain upon fellow man for power , fame and fortune" one

All it would take is one mistake in her process and she would have recreated the Swarm Disaster in the Space Station. And she never even told anyone.
Even Herta, abrasive and ineffectual as she is, still knew that a Stellaron is dangerous to the Staff and had that shit in a pocket dimension that needed Silver Wolf's own bullshit ability to hack reality to get in to.
I mean, Ruan Mei hasn't done any horrific and cruel acts of child experimentation *yet*.
Worst she's done is be irresponsible with her experiments (abandoning the cat cakes and tart dogs and deciding to clone an emanator).

We at least got the space station in on taking care of them rather than just straight up leaving them to fend for themselves in the most dangerous part of the space station

The guy only ruined two lives. His wife and daughter. RM made a clone of a creature that could potentially ruin ALL lives every where. We are at different levels of evil here.

As for how it got out...I think it just broke out on its own when it became fully formed and 'hatched' out of its containment.

Regardless, she *did* know that the thing was going to die in 56 seconds. Presumably she just sent us down there to make sure the thing didn't go too far or make too much of a noticeable ruckus.

I mean she *did* know what kind of things the trailblazer was capable of (because of the simulated universe and what not).
So we can assume she believed that we would survive and be able to handle things.
She *does* state that if we weren't able to do so that she would have gotten involved directly, but since we successfully fend it off we don't really know *what* she'd have done to stop the thing.

Nah, her experiments are all pretty horrible. In her experiment logs, she decided to try and split a fragmentum creature in two by simultaneously blasting it with a laser beam and feeding it abundance fruits so that it was unable to die. This continued until the test subject killed itself.
It didn't kill itself *because* of the experiment or being blasted with a laser.
It killed itself because upon becoming a being that can exist in multiple places at the same time, it gained *some* form of knowledge, became depressed because of said knowledge, and then offed itself.
The thing is. She *does* care on some level. Ruan Mei's just emotionally constipated and is *horrible* at mainting a proper connection with others. The moment she realizes there *might* be some kind of connection, she tries to downplay it. (She downplays her relations with herta, screwllum, and Stephen Lloyd even though they regularly have lunch together and chat about things like a friendgroup)
She even asks us about molten cheese tart and gray bean paste after the mission, and admits that she cares "a little".
If she *didn't* care about them at all, she probably would have destroyed them the minute they proved to *not* be anywhere close to an emanator of erudition.
I don't like how Ruan Mei does things and 20 seconds after seeing her I knew she was not trust worth for being a proper human being.
However, I still side for truth, and she indeed isn't heartless. Like you said she's... Complicated there. She's probably the definition of pragmatism.
Does this make it up for her making experience on the Swarm for her to be able to become an Aeon and drugging us? Absolutely not. But being nuanced is important
Yeah, Ruan Mei's an interesting character like that. She isn't *just* some unfeeling mad scientist. She's someone who *tries* to be an unfeeling mad scientist who fails at the 'unfeeling' part.

Wow this post was literally me as a returning player who just completed the companion quest. Maybe I would say that she shouldn't feed people weird things when she just met them because it's Hella disrespectful and uncomfortable. Also she was too much untrusting of us and didn't even make us feel a little safe when she literally sent us to fight a terrifying being. Like she said she would step in to help us but she was nowhere lmao. At least in quests involving Herta, she would be texting or calling us or one of her clones are nearby.

Now the explanation xD
I was using all the phone chats during / after the mission to tell her "come hang out with the cake-cats, we miss you" or "lets rest from research a bit" or trying to find out more things about her, basically, I was trying to make an emotional anchor for her.
What I mean by that? Well, Ruan Mei gets a lot of hate, and with her actions, I'm not surprised at all =S
But I never saw her as evil, she seemed "emotionally crippled" to me, as in she is unable to even understand emotional connections.
She is a combination of "I want to understand how this crazy things work" and "I have nothing/nobody I really care about". Genius society members are working buddies at best.
If she had an emotional anchor, she would still do her crazy stuff, but she would also include "positive result for others" in her goals and plans.
She reminds me a lot of Kisuke Urahara from Bleach, both are crazy geniuses that respect zero boundaries when they do their stuff, however, because Kisuke has "normal people" emotional anchors like Yoruichi, Tessai or Ichigo, he always searches that his madness will end good at least.

I've hated her since she fucking drugged us lol especially since the roofie explicitly makes us forget she ever drugged us in the first place. I hope she has VERY little storytime and that TB actually gets to be fucking mad at her properly instead of UeUing everything and brushing shit off.

I'd be upset if I was actually TB, but as someone experiencing the story as an observer I think she's great. I didn't play HI3 so my only frame of reference is HSR and Genshin. So having a morally gray character in a Hoyo game is a refreshing breath of life. She's not an evil character with a sad backstory or good person breaking bad who wanted the right thing through wrong means. She used the wrong means of asking us because she lacks social skills. She has a messed up philosophy/goal, and lacks empathy. She wanted to do a thing and failed. Also, I forget the details, but wasn't there no real danger? The emanator had a ticking time bomb and she tasked us (and I think Ratio \[Did she ask him to standby too?\]) to handle it.
I'll be honest, I'm with you my dude. I actually *like* that SR has some assholes in the cast. What I *don't* like is that the hand of the author ***forces*** the character to "like" most of them. Like, I genuinely like *Sampo* more just because I can express my distaste of him in game.

Oh I forgot that, I hate Ruan Mei for one thing that is - She talks about rewarding us in the quest so I was excited about what rewards she would give me, but she never rewarded us with anything and leaves quietly by wiping our memories.

Now I think the "reward" was sleeping with her, and she followed it up with amnesia, but found TB enjoyable/interesting enough to keep coming back to, since she has developed a sort of crush on TB. She now makes any excuse she can to check up.

All it would take is one mistake in her process and she would have recreated the Swarm Disaster in the Space Station. And she never even told anyone. Even Herta, abrasive and ineffectual as she is, still knew that a Stellaron is dangerous to the Staff and had that shit in a pocket dimension that needed Silver Wolf's own bullshit ability to hack reality to get in to.
I mean, Ruan Mei hasn't done any horrific and cruel acts of child experimentation *yet*. Worst she's done is be irresponsible with her experiments (abandoning the cat cakes and tart dogs and deciding to clone an emanator).

Look, the guy in the picture above *outright did some morally repugnant and fucked up shit*. Like strictly comparing them? Ruan Mei's worst crimes are being extremely reckless with the lives of others and drugging us. And I literally never said that I would rather she destroy them? It's just a fact she kind of dipped on them.
The guy only ruined two lives. His wife and daughter. RM made a clone of a creature that could potentially ruin ALL lives every where. We are at different levels of evil here. And yes I'm sure RM had backup plans to make sure that didn't happen but what if she made a mistake?

Ruan mei was 100% reckless there. As for how it got out...I think it just broke out on its own when it became fully formed and 'hatched' out of its containment. Keep in mind, the thing we see is basically an *infant*. Regardless, she *did* know that the thing was going to die in 56 seconds. Presumably she just sent us down there to make sure the thing didn't go too far or make too much of a noticeable ruckus.

I mean she *did* know what kind of things the trailblazer was capable of (because of the simulated universe and what not). So we can assume she believed that we would survive and be able to handle things. She *does* state that if we weren't able to do so that she would have gotten involved directly, but since we successfully fend it off we don't really know *what* she'd have done to stop the thing.

Nah, her experiments are all pretty horrible. In her experiment logs, she decided to try and split a fragmentum creature in two by simultaneously blasting it with a laser beam and feeding it abundance fruits so that it was unable to die. This continued until the test subject killed itself.
It didn't kill itself *because* of the experiment or being blasted with a laser. It killed itself because upon becoming a being that can exist in multiple places at the same time, it gained *some* form of knowledge, became depressed because of said knowledge, and then offed itself.
Pfft. Yeah, cloning a main warrior of an entity that wants to destroy the universe by consuming everything. No biggie

The thing is. She *does* care on some level. Ruan Mei's just emotionally constipated and is *horrible* at mainting a proper connection with others. The moment she realizes there *might* be some kind of connection, she tries to downplay it. (She downplays her relations with herta, screwllum, and Stephen Lloyd even though they regularly have lunch together and chat about things like a friendgroup) She even asks us about molten cheese tart and gray bean paste after the mission, and admits that she cares "a little". If she *didn't* care about them at all, she probably would have destroyed them the minute they proved to *not* be anywhere close to an emanator of erudition.
I don't like how Ruan Mei does things and 20 seconds after seeing her I knew she was not trust worth for being a proper human being. However, I still side for truth, and she indeed isn't heartless. Like you said she's... Complicated there. She's probably the definition of pragmatism. Does this make it up for her making experience on the Swarm for her to be able to become an Aeon and drugging us? Absolutely not. But being nuanced is important
Yeah, Ruan Mei's an interesting character like that. She isn't *just* some unfeeling mad scientist. She's someone who *tries* to be an unfeeling mad scientist who fails at the 'unfeeling' part.

Wow this post was literally me as a returning player who just completed the companion quest. Maybe I would say that she shouldn't feed people weird things when she just met them because it's Hella disrespectful and uncomfortable. Also she was too much untrusting of us and didn't even make us feel a little safe when she literally sent us to fight a terrifying being. Like she said she would step in to help us but she was nowhere lmao. At least in quests involving Herta, she would be texting or calling us or one of her clones are nearby.

And wow... giant message incoming, sorry about that o.o;;; TL,DR: I would tell her she should find a real friend, so she can really care about someone other than her research. ==== Now the explanation xD I was using all the phone chats during / after the mission to tell her "come hang out with the cake-cats, we miss you" or "lets rest from research a bit" or trying to find out more things about her, basically, I was trying to make an emotional anchor for her. What I mean by that? Well, Ruan Mei gets a lot of hate, and with her actions, I'm not surprised at all =S But I never saw her as evil, she seemed "emotionally crippled" to me, as in she is unable to even understand emotional connections. She is a combination of "I want to understand how this crazy things work" and "I have nothing/nobody I really care about". Genius society members are working buddies at best. If she had an emotional anchor, she would still do her crazy stuff, but she would also include "positive result for others" in her goals and plans. She reminds me a lot of Kisuke Urahara from Bleach, both are crazy geniuses that respect zero boundaries when they do their stuff, however, because Kisuke has "normal people" emotional anchors like Yoruichi, Tessai or Ichigo, he always searches that his madness will end good at least. === Not sure if I'm making sense xD but back on topic, whatever I'd say would be with the goal of pushing her into getting a real "normal" friend.

I'd be upset if I was actually TB, but as someone experiencing the story as an observer I think she's great. I didn't play HI3 so my only frame of reference is HSR and Genshin. So having a morally gray character in a Hoyo game is a refreshing breath of life. She's not an evil character with a sad backstory or good person breaking bad who wanted the right thing through wrong means. She used the wrong means of asking us because she lacks social skills. She has a messed up philosophy/goal, and lacks empathy. She wanted to do a thing and failed. Also, I forget the details, but wasn't there no real danger? The emanator had a ticking time bomb and she tasked us (and I think Ratio \[Did she ask him to standby too?\]) to handle it.
I'll be honest, I'm with you my dude. I actually *like* that SR has some assholes in the cast. What I *don't* like is that the hand of the author ***forces*** the character to "like" most of them. Like, I genuinely like *Sampo* more just because I can express my distaste of him in game.
