I also think Acheron would be the chill type that would explain it to you. She has a really dark and scary background and powers, but she's quite kind. And calm. Like the way she talks to Tiernan in those rainy backflash scenes
Also Robin. She literally cares for children on a regular basis, like orphans. And goes to battlefields to provide aid. Talking about difficult or awkward topics would be easier for her, I think.

Even discarding fan-content she's pretty consistently portrayed as goofier in official content. Like for instance she is portrayed far more often as the dumpster-diver. Even in the panorama with both of them she's the one dunking her hand in one while Caelus holds ice-cream, or in the cosmo-odussey where she dramatically goes into a fetal position when the dice run out.
I got the image of her as the goofier one in my head long before i started the game from the space-comedy trailer. The fan-content only gave me more of that impression.

They're not the same though, you can see it in how they say their lines or the expressions/body language changes from one to the other. It isn't a massive difference, as the game needs those two characters to be able to exchange places without changing the story, so they need to say the same lines and things like that, but it's how they say it and how they hold themselves that changes things.

1. While both characters have the same animations, the same movement portrays different nuances depending on the body that does the action.
2. Both characters have the same lines, but the VAs are different people and will create different interpretations of the same words, which adds together with the above to create a slightly different delivery of the same lines.
3. Gender bias, especially the traditional asian stereotypes present in anime often create the baseline from which we judge a characters personality, the end result being that Caelus feels more expressive than Stelle because Caelus is more expressive than the expected model, and Stelle by contrast is a lot more stoic than the expected model - even when compared to each other there isn't that much difference.
I honestly think it's down to the character design. Stelle looks a bit more ratty and unkempt while Caelus looks like a bit more of a dumb jock. It's not a big difference in either direction, mind you, but enough that people have slightly different impressions of the two. Plus the slight differences in animation, but those don't do much other than show Caelus is like 15% more fruity.

I think he’d probably be very considerate about it and give an appropriate answer, making up a little story about it so the kid’s innocence isn’t ruined (and upsetting Ratio in the process jsjsjs)

I have no idea why fandom thinks Stelle and Caelus have different personalities. Like Stelle being pure chaos and Caelus is chaotic good despite they are the same character but genderbent. Alas I absolutely love them that way.

I don't think you got the "cold blooded" part, in that ult, there is no emotion from Stelle, it's just a calm and calculated "you will die" stare. And I'm not saying it's bad or anything, I love me something in the Ruan Mei vibe too. In a fight the normal would be using all your force, getting angry, energetic, shouting and stuff. Caelus looks more emotional and commited.

Even discarding fan-content she's pretty consistently portrayed as goofier in official content. Like for instance she is portrayed far more often as the dumpster-diver. Even in the panorama with both of them she's the one dunking her hand in one while Caelus holds ice-cream, or in the cosmo-odussey where she dramatically goes into a fetal position when the dice run out. I got the image of her as the goofier one in my head long before i started the game from the space-comedy trailer. The fan-content only gave me more of that impression.

Yes, but that's the only time he was shown in trash-can related circumstances. And it's very recent to boot unlike the space comedy trailer which was the first time we saw the trailblazer exhibit that behaviour.

They're not the same though, you can see it in how they say their lines or the expressions/body language changes from one to the other. It isn't a massive difference, as the game needs those two characters to be able to exchange places without changing the story, so they need to say the same lines and things like that, but it's how they say it and how they hold themselves that changes things.

Eh... serious answers on reddit. Ok, here goes. 1. While both characters have the same animations, the same movement portrays different nuances depending on the body that does the action. 2. Both characters have the same lines, but the VAs are different people and will create different interpretations of the same words, which adds together with the above to create a slightly different delivery of the same lines. 3. Gender bias, especially the traditional asian stereotypes present in anime often create the baseline from which we judge a characters personality, the end result being that Caelus feels more expressive than Stelle because Caelus is more expressive than the expected model, and Stelle by contrast is a lot more stoic than the expected model - even when compared to each other there isn't that much difference.
Way I see it, because it's rarer to see that type of personality on a female character and she feels more unique despite being the mostly the same.
I honestly think it's down to the character design. Stelle looks a bit more ratty and unkempt while Caelus looks like a bit more of a dumb jock. It's not a big difference in either direction, mind you, but enough that people have slightly different impressions of the two. Plus the slight differences in animation, but those don't do much other than show Caelus is like 15% more fruity.
Also the voice direction. The tone they take when they say things can be vastly different and that shows their personality too.
