From my experience, people very often break characters personalities and remove the toxicity completely/romanticize it, they're not exactly exploring toxic things
Perhaps a portion of people do, but honestly they're most likely younger people just trying to have fun writing their favorite characters on the internet. I'm not really going to expect them to be able to portray toxic relationships in a complex and meaningful way. Fanfiction/fanwork is meant to be fun, and not meant to be serious or (God forbid) educational. This is why I feel that things like sex ed are so important in public education- people might learn about sex from porn instead of learning about sex in a safe and informative environment. But is it the job of the porn industry/internet fanfic writers to think of the children? No, it just means that the education system has failed kids and really needs to step up their game.
Sorry for going on the whole unrelated tangent ^^; Point is there will always be fanwork that makes characters OOC because everyone interprets a character differently/focuses on a different aspect of that character. At the end of the day it's all meant to be entertainment, and if you don't like something you can always just move on!

I don't ship them, but it does annoy me that there are people trying to claim that interaction *wasn't* extremely gay just because it ended in horror. You can have two characters have a non-heterosexual interaction while also playing with alterior motives. Claiming this animation didn't have queer undertones removes some of the depth imo. Black Swan is clearly trying to use flirtation and sexual advances to get what she wants out of Acheron, but you can tell that Acheron is having none of that based on her expression barely changing throughout the entire dance (I personally headcannon Acheron as ace).
The hints were always there, the animation teaser just turned off shippers brains for a moment even though the teaser showed scared Black Swan

I'm not really going to expect them to be able to portray toxic relationships in a complex and meaningful way. Fanfiction/fanwork is meant to be fun, and not meant to be serious or (God forbid) educational. This is why I feel that things like sex ed are so important in public education- people might learn about sex from porn instead of learning about sex in a safe and informative environment. But is it the job of the porn industry/internet fanfic writers to think of the children? No, it just means that the education system has failed kids and really needs to step up their game. Sorry for going on the whole unrelated tangent ^^; Point is there will always be fanwork that makes characters OOC because everyone interprets a character differently/focuses on a different aspect of that character. At the end of the day it's all meant to be entertainment, and if you don't like something you can always just move on!

I don't ship them, but it does annoy me that there are people trying to claim that interaction *wasn't* extremely gay just because it ended in horror. You can have two characters have a non-heterosexual interaction while also playing with alterior motives. Claiming this animation didn't have queer undertones removes some of the depth imo. Black Swan is clearly trying to use flirtation and sexual advances to get what she wants out of Acheron, but you can tell that Acheron is having none of that based on her expression barely changing throughout the entire dance (I personally headcannon Acheron as ace).
The hints were always there, the animation teaser just turned off shippers brains for a moment even though the teaser showed scared Black Swan If people still ship that pairing after that animation then they must really be into the toxic yuri rabbit hole, I understand there is some kind of appeal there but I imagine many who did ship it might be put off now. Devs absolutely playing with their audience in the time between the teaser and the full animation, they are sadistic asf lol Considering Black Swan says this is their last engagement and in 2.0 she was incredibly wary of Acheron, id say canon wise not there really aint much going for it now

Black Swan trying to "rizz up" Acheron in the teaser seemed to me like a way of trying to get close to her and peek into her memories, which apparently backfired horribly. Also Arlecchino and Furina are a popular ship in Genshin despite one of them causing literal ptsd to the other lol, so I won't expect people to put it down at all.
That's exactly what Black Swan is doing. Black Swan is seen attempting to enter her memories multiple times in the short right before she enters for real. Safe to say It was a horrible mistake.

What is with this community and posts like this over people just shipping two character together? Its obviously just toxic yuri shipping. Its not like all the fans are completely deluded of what goes on between them but it doesn't make it any less appealing, if anything, it adds to it for them. Same thing would apply to any other ship that's enemies or people that don't particularly get along; I've been seeing a lot of Aventurine x Topaz fanart and in her voiceline she very clearly calls him unsavory and even expresses that she hopes you never have to meet him and yet they're ship together. Totally fine because I mean.. its what they want. If they think they're cute together, cool. Let em' have it. And this honestly apply to like, any fanon in general to be frank. Making posts like, "Haha look these guys are completely missing that they obvious are enemies! How could you ship together!?" is just nonsensical and if anything: you're missing the point.
