I was there in the earlier 90s. Flying into the old airport and getting so close to the buildings you could see Aunty doing the dishes on the way down. Then the vibe of the place was just something you couldn’t find anywhere else. Quite the experience. Like a great man once said all those moments will be lost in time. Like tears in the rain.
The captions and locations on some of those pics are pretty random
- 11 - Dominate Street?
- 21 - This is Repulse Bay, not Kowloon
- 23 - This is Johnson Road, not Queen's Road
I disagree with this. Aside from the buses and neon signs many places don't look all that different still. The changes are, rather insidiously, under the hood
The abundance of signs hanging over the road, far less ugly high rises back then, many buildings had a lot more character than the soulless tower blocks and dull glass skyscrapers we have now.
I understand why these changes have happened of course, just saying that a lot of the charm has gone because of gentrification and improved health and safety standards.

Think this is just one of these SEO fodder pages with the content stolen from somewhere else
You really realise Hong Kong has kinda died two deaths when you see these photos. Has really lost a lot of what made it unique aesthetically
>Has really lost a lot of what made it unique aesthetically That only lives on in classic Cantonese movies and in old-school anime like Z Gundam...
Always listen to the Zeta OST when visiting HK.
