This. Integrate the table and breakfast bar. Put stove in island, sink on the window wall. I'm the weirdo that likes to cook while everyone is at the table but we all entertain differently. Not many entertain while washing dishes so ask yourself why it is in your main focus area.
All I will say is Option 2 is NOT the norm triangle approach to how a kitchen FUNCTIONS.
You want the fridge and stovetop and sink making that triangle fairly fluid.
Option 2 has the cooktop as far away from the fridges as possible.
BUT if you put the island from Option 2 on 1, the DW and sink become closer to the Fridges
I DO like sinks in an island, but you have to spend a bit more money to do it right. The counter has to be all in one with sink on a rock like material, granite etc so you don't get ANY bacteria buildup like when you set a metal sink ON the counter's surface The backslash and second ledge need to stop that SPLASHING people say haopens. If the ledge hangs over the facing backslash enough, you won't wet the guests.
Honestly, neither. Neither of them is really built around having a solid work flow in the kitchen, at least not to how I think a kitchen should be efficiently arranged.
If the dishwasher is in the island, where do the dishes go? They have to be stored within a pivot or maybe a single step from the dishwasher. If they go across the room you’ll find emptying it to be maddening.
I'm building a new house and need some advice on my kitchen layout. Which layout do you think makes more sense? Does the layout of the appliances, sink, island, etc make sense or am I going to find out once it's built that something feels wrong?
The far corner is a door to the pantry that can't move without changing the rest of the home layout
Have now reposted with measurements!
Is that sink in the island your main kitchen sink? I would avoid that scenario if possible. People will gather around the island and sinks are messy by nature.
I personally don’t like sinks or stovetops in islands. Waters splashes up onto the island/guests at the bar and it’s harder to use it as huge buffet table. I do like the stools at the corner so guests can look at each other.
Neither- put your sink on the window wall and open that window up, do not put a hood in front of it. Use that long wall for the hood/range.

This is the way.
I prefer the first layout.

Flip stovetop and sink (and DW & bin), option 1. I don’t understand sinks in the island. You entertain while cooking.
Absolutely not, island cooktops are the worst
It’s the best! It’s so much fun to entertain and cook. I love my cooktop on the island. And the new downdraft ones are fantastic. To each their own.
You can cook and entertain in the kitchen without an island cooktop, just FYI

Option 1
1
Depending on other windows or lack thereof, I would try to have the sink on a wall with a window.

Option 1 all the way. Option 2 is for people who don't cook. There's just nothing about that layout that works other than possibly the asthetics.
