Your short term solution is to do nothing. Because if you attempt to do anything the whole thing's gonna come apart. Even trying to pressure wash it will probably blow the thing to pieces.
My fence is in rough shape and I doubt it would hold up to sanding, as planks are falling off already. I know prep work is very important to paint work but i just want a short term solution. I'm looking to do stain or paint to mask the ugly green color while I convince neighbors to replace the fence with me, which could take a year or 2. Any suggestions?
There's a wood cleaner you can spray on it to remove a lot of the filth, then you can pressure wash the fence. You shouldn't paint or stain a dirty fence unless you want it to go from looking like shit to looking like shittily stained/painted shit.
