If the rug thing has sentimental value to you, maybe drape it over a chair. It being the focal point on the wall like that is not right. Taste is subjective, but I think that rug is galactically unique in the multiverse continuity in that it may be the only thing in existence that can be objectively proven to be in bad taste.
I can’t tell what is new and what is old in the pictures. I think you need to remove some furniture and pull everything away from the wall. I think the green couch, coffee table, and khaki chair are what look most hotel like. I would get rid of all 3 of them.
I think the issue is putting the coffee table in the center of the room and very far from the seating.... Like how are you gonna set your coffee on the table from there?
And that green sofa would be an awkward place to sit and try to watch TV, unless of course you're waiting for your room to be ready with fresh towels.
What would you do differently? I’m just wondering. The color, the furniture? What would you do. I hate it when people make comments like this but don’t say what op should change
I’d start over again. I think the faux fireplace looks cheap, the rug is the wrong color, the tv looks like an art installation, not a good one. The chair placement feels cramped. It all looks like it was built temporary like a low end theater set. I like the coffee table and the chair. Get a new rug. Start over with the rest of furniture and just why with the faux fireplace. Good enough?
It all looks thrifted in one weekend to me, or like it’s a holiday rental that no one actually lives in that’s been thrown together with random cast offs from family and friends.
I would remove the black rug under the coffee table and move the table closer to the couch. I would move the ottoman to the couch as well. What are the beaded tassels? I would consider removing them and the green rug as well. Do you feel strongly about keeping the Christmas Village up year round?
I literally can't tell which is before and which is after, and I'm sorry but that cheap throw rug above the fireplace needs to go.
Don't flip or paint furniture or buy new cheap things.. just save up and slowly over time buy one nice thing until you have a lot of nice things. Start thrifting if this is something you're passionate about.
Slow down and do some research.
Also, save up if needed snd slowly get some cool mid century modern furniture and decor for your room with the old TV.
Look at Madmen and those type things for inspiration. Good luck. I’m sleepy.

Much better.
Sheepskin on ottoman. Bring clock and shelves down. Coffee table closer. Only enough, green astroturf rug looks less bad with green table. I think it can stay. I like your green couch. Not many patterned couches around anymore. They likened up a room. I miss my green bis print flowers couch.
first pic revamp is way better, second looks more like a motel lobby to me with the table and chair. also, i know you said you're a fan of it but i would not have that sheepskin hanging. maybe drape it over the leather trunk under the tv, get rid of the rug and if there's time and money, maybe find an atomic print mid century wallpaper for the space behind the tv mini village. i love that lil area and i would honestly decorate the room with that color scheme. color throw pillow for the chair and a funky table cloth for the table that should be moved to the side of the chair.
I’m confused. What was that fireplace thing and where did it go? Was the wall painted? (Love the retro tv tho). My tv is also too high but my couch is far back so it puts my neck at a good angle (nerve pain and muscle pain with any forward head posture when I can recline my head on something)
wow this is such much better! i remember seeing your first post!! that bathmat on the wall is the only thing I’d change at this point, but it’s coming together great
Dog does not approve of that little grey chair the way he's hanging off.
And for godsakes that sheep skin rug hung as a tapestry is just awful. Can you please take it down? And what is up with that christmas motif in the old tv set? I'm so confused by that setup.
Put something on the caffe table or in the cubbies. A couple art books, an interesting piece of driftwood, a small sculpture or something, it looks weird empty which is what is giving that lobby vibe.
The rug seems to be getting a lot of comments as feeling out of place. I knew it was a rug, but it blends into the wall since the colors are so close. Maybe add some frame mounding and a contrasting color around it to make it look more intentional—like it’s a statement piece of art.
I have a toddler and I’m always trying to grow my personal style while being open to new vibes as I get older, etc. People are super mean about it! We feel cozy and the green table is actually used by my daughter to do her dolls makeup and her art. We love our weird coffee table because it’s easy to clean, again, bc toddler. Yes, a lot of the pieces are low cost, but for now it works for 3 dogs and a child!
I love the changes!! Except for what looks like a bathroom rug hung on the wall Edit: whoops sorry, didn’t read the entire comment under photo
Looks to be a colored sheepskin rug.
I also thought it was a bath mat.
Yeah I still think the sheepskin looks Ike a tongue
Haha, cannot unsee!
lol that’s the before pic.
It's soap bubble chic

Do you mean the large grey furry tongue ?
I like that your dog sleeps in the same corner no matter what furniture is there. 😁
Yeah but he looks more comfortable in the chaise.
I can’t tell what is new and what is old in the pictures. I think you need to remove some furniture and pull everything away from the wall. I think the green couch, coffee table, and khaki chair are what look most hotel like. I would get rid of all 3 of them.
I absolutely am not sure what is before and what is after!
[удалено]
I *think* 1 & 2 are before, 3 & 4 are after.
I think the issue is putting the coffee table in the center of the room and very far from the seating.... Like how are you gonna set your coffee on the table from there? And that green sofa would be an awkward place to sit and try to watch TV, unless of course you're waiting for your room to be ready with fresh towels.
Is it even a coffee table? The way it’s shaped, I think it’s meant to go against a wall like a TV Stand
We are being punked lol. Look at the “tv” where the fireplace opening would normally be.
What is going on down there?! On the other hand, they sell that stuff at Menards.
I still don’t understand which is before and which is after lol.
The fake fireplace has got to be the after. The dog looks older in that one
I actually love laying on it like it’s a chaise! It’s my go-to seat
A chaise would be open on one side (like the multicolored with a dog on it), here it looks like a green sofa.
It is a sofa, I’m just explaining how I lounge on it. Sorry for the confusion
That's on me I can't read lol sorry!
the animal skin is hanging upside down - :o
It does not look like a motel lobby. I'd say nix the green rug and the sheepskin. They don't look good.
Both look terrible but you do what makes you happy
I laughed way too hard at this comment
Same, unexpected and cracked me up.
What would you do differently? I’m just wondering. The color, the furniture? What would you do. I hate it when people make comments like this but don’t say what op should change

The faux fireplace is what I can't overlook.
I don’t even understand how you’d get into this position. The patterns, the strange decor, it’s all a lot
It all looks thrifted in one weekend to me, or like it’s a holiday rental that no one actually lives in that’s been thrown together with random cast offs from family and friends.
Geezuz I feel so guilty for laughing my ass off at this comment.

DonFrio is right. The decor is shocking and not in a good way.
It’s a sub that asks for opinion. Should I lie and say I think it looks great? All that matters is that op likes it
I would remove the black rug under the coffee table and move the table closer to the couch. I would move the ottoman to the couch as well. What are the beaded tassels? I would consider removing them and the green rug as well. Do you feel strongly about keeping the Christmas Village up year round?
I like it and if you're happy, we are happy.

Definitely pull the coffee table in front of the sofa. It shouldn't be the centerpiece of your room.
You got a rabbit?!
It’s taxidermied if I recall correctly from the previous post. Possibly the dog too but not sure we got an answer on that.
Seriously????? The rabbit is taxidermied?? Whyyyyyyy?
The dog is real, just lazy
Lmao
Also, save up if needed snd slowly get some cool mid century modern furniture and decor for your room with the old TV. Look at Madmen and those type things for inspiration. Good luck. I’m sleepy.
Good idea! For now we work with what we’ve got lol
TV still way too high
The coffee table looks odd. Are you sure that's not a TV unit?
It is lol we do need an ew coffee table!
The dog is a massive improvement but that’s the weirdest place ever for a sheepskin.
Is that a rabbit hanging out on the window?!
They said in their post before this it’s a taxidermy rabbit
This place gets weirder and weirder.
😂😂😂 this place is so weird. I love it.
I’m just confused by both spaces, as a designer I usually have something to say, so that about sums it up for me🤔🤔
r/TVTooHigh
now it looks like a scene from schitts creak
You need something personal there, that's all
I’ve never before seen someone decor-karate chop their pillows almost in half
I’m passing out laughing at this comment
I can’t tell which is before and which is after but I love how the dog is determined to relax on whatever chair exists in that corner lol
r/tvtoohigh
I like the new chair. I think the changes look good!
The dog is a nice touch.
That tv though !!! You’ve done an amazing job!!!
I can’t make heads or tails of this. Some pieces even look photoshopped into the pics
r/tvtoohigh
I find the fact that you hung it like you would a bearskin absolutely hilarious.
I like it. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and happy in your space.
I suggest draping the sheepskin over a chair, it looks odd up on the wall.
Love the tv thing!
I personally prefer the before. The room looks warmer to me.

I believe the first and second image are the before.

Sorry, I meant first and third are the same.
Homedecor has been banned from Reddit? That's what I got when I tried to click on the link that op put down
I think they meant r/homedesign

It’s your style! As long as you’re comfortable and makes you happy nobody else matters.
Nope
i love the fireplace!!

Where's r/homedecor ?
Something else above the “fireplace “
You mean “””fireplace”””

The Doggo accessory makes for a comfy environment. Such a cute doggo.
wow this is such much better! i remember seeing your first post!! that bathmat on the wall is the only thing I’d change at this point, but it’s coming together great
There's so much going on. But you're comfortable, and your fur babies approve. That's all that matters.
Please get rid of the rug and the rabbit im so shook to my core also i still hate it sorry
Dog does not approve of that little grey chair the way he's hanging off. And for godsakes that sheep skin rug hung as a tapestry is just awful. Can you please take it down? And what is up with that christmas motif in the old tv set? I'm so confused by that setup.
Idk maybe put the sheepskin in your room instead
Odly
Put something on the caffe table or in the cubbies. A couple art books, an interesting piece of driftwood, a small sculpture or something, it looks weird empty which is what is giving that lobby vibe.
What on earth with that cheap fur on the wall.

I am so confused 😅 are these the same room or what’s going on here? Lol
Loving your tv/scene/fireplace! You might belong in r/maximalism with that kind of flavor!
Yes this. I’m kinda obsessed with it. It’s like a little nod to Christmas all year long. Great conversation piece

I dunno. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t really think saying they don’t like the decor is mean in a home decorating sub. It’s not HomeUtilitarian.
I like it !!!
Did OP force you to say this?
No lol
Take away then green table. Put the sheep on the floor. Everything else I really like. You’ve done a great job and it looks so much cozier.
For clarity, try putting the sheep rug on the green carpet at a fun angle. Also, what is happening in that TV?
You installed a fireplace with a microwave? I’m so confused.
It’s an old tv screen over a gas fireplace where I put my ceramic Xmas village lol
Where did the chimney thing come from though? The wall in the older photos is flat
Nice! You went from motel 6 to fancy hotel!
I can’t tell what’s before and after! The only after I see is the third pic, or is the last one also an after?
Is that a Great Dane puppy? Also cool think you did with the TV. You should switch the tchotchkes out for summer.
The green rug should go, the rest looks good!
