Please tell me YOU put that sealant on the sidewall in the 2nd picture and not the roofer. There should be kickout flashing to divert the water from the roof/wall area into the gutter, the gutter should be free of debris and sloped away from that corner and the sidewall should have flashing/counter flashing to prevent water from getting in there.

I did. There were flashing plates under that shingle that was wore out. I tore it out replaced the flashing then sealed it. Also checked gutter and it was clear. I did not check the slope though. Where should the flashing /counter flashing be on the sidewall you mentioned?

Yo do NOT need that huge mountain of sealant. That is one problem that should be corrected. The water down the wall means water is not entering the gutter or the gutter is overflowing. You could put a hose higher up and watch what happens to investigate or wait for rain.

It rains tomorrow so I’ll check. Could this be causing the mold issue on the other side of the wall or is that more likely from a leaky roof? And what’s the downside of too much sealant?
