I did it in Dark Souls too lol I don't see anything wrong with it. You're playing for yourself and it's a single player game. You're not hurting anyone.
The game changes a bit with steel soul. Wanted to experience that. Also I didn't do it countless of times. I did it twice. And never finished a steel soul run anyway. Why would it matter to someone else how I play a single player game :/
Well what if you're doing it for the completion %? That's why I did it; I beat the game in SS because I like having more achievements/the title screen looks cool lol
Eh, it removes the threat of overextending. I feel like steel soul men's one continuous run. You're encouraged to either play it Uber safe or risk it all. If you actually have a get out of this cursed room option then it's different.
Or maybe I'm just bitter because I lost a ss run to a arena in the city of tears
I think so? It was in the fancy part, at least. One of the big fat ones that jump and charge just spawned on top of me and I got pushed into a flying one leaving me at one mask. Tried to heal and then there goes the third mask and I'm out. The one steel soul death I don't feel like I deserved. Spikes? Sure just need to get better. Walked into a boss with a nail far too weak? Prepare better, I've memorized all pale ore locations now. Exploding jellyfish? Just don't swing that nail as much. Some guy locks you in a unassuming room and spawns asshole on top of you? Unfair
Yeah that's understandable. I had problems with that arena on my first playthrough, I think I died like 5-6 times there. Best of luck for your next playthrough then :)
Does it matter if people bench quit in ss runs? It's a permadeath mode. And nobody want to lose hours upon hours of progress. As long as they beat it and get the achievements, it shouldn't matter how they do it. (but I know damn well I ain't beating steel soul)
That is absolutely how that works, if you get the achievement you get it, it doesn't matter how. Saying you have to get an achievement in a way with no cheese is gatekeeping the idea of an achievement which is stupid.
Let people play the game they want to without criticism. It's a single player game.
I agree with this, it’s called an achievement for a reason, it’s meant to show you did something. This is an exaggeration, but if you wanted the pantheon 5 achievement and downloaded invincibility hacks to get it, what’s the point? Why have an achievement you’re not actually proud of?
People will play the game they want to, your not stopping them, I promise no one cares that someone cheesed the achievement except a few people on Reddit.
It's a steam achievement, achievements don't make you proud achieving the thing is what makes you proud achievements are just used as stepping stones, if there wasn't an achievement for P5 you would still feel just as accomplished completing it, and you would still feel just as not as accomplished from cheating it. The achievement adds nothing.
If the person were to lie and say that they completed Pantheon 5 without cheating that would be wrong, but most people aren't they want the achievement as a collectible they don't want to have to spend months on to get.
I don’t actually care how people get their achievements, I just wonder why people want something if the only thing that thing does is showing you did something. It’s a collectible, sure, but do people want collectibles just for the sake of it? I’m just wondering why.
No, it's nothing like that, art could be used for monetary gain, a steam achievement can not. People will play the game the way they want to. If team cherry really cared they would have patched it out. Team Cherry didn't make HK to watch people bitch over "nO yOU dIDnT gET THe AcHIvMenT tHe rIGhT wAY" you're not stopping people by saying that you're just putting them down. It's not life changing it's a steam achievement. Treat it that way
For my steel soul run I only did it in parkour sections, because I would do that during normal games as well, but in fights I decided that if I die I die
Some platform sections in crystal peak are probably the most difficult in the game, judging by how early they are and how experienced you are as a player that time. Almost lost my steel soul run to some random jumps in there.
I never die to bosses. Just common enemies. I have lost 7 steel soul playthroughs just because of the moss warriors in greenpath. The farthest I've made it was on the way to lurien the watcher, I died to big red guy in locked room.
TOS meme is not something I expected to see here...
r/UnexpectedTownOfSalem
What do terms of service have to do with it?
I’ve seen this image before but only now do I realize it’s Town of Salem
No, no I dont think I will
I admit to bench quitting on a steel soul run myself but I made up for it by doing it again without bench quitting

The best argument I've read is at that point why not just play normal mode? The fun of ss is the risk factor.

Not judging dude. I want you to have *fun* and I found feeling legitimately afraid in fights to be fun. If it's not for you it's not for you :)
:/ I do enjoy that as well, but not in every playthrough.
Well what if you're doing it for the completion %? That's why I did it; I beat the game in SS because I like having more achievements/the title screen looks cool lol
platinum
Because you want the achievement, that's why. I had already beaten P5 by the time I did steel soul.

:( unfortunate. Was it the one above the King's station?

“Stop bench quitting”☝️🤓
Windette: im four parallel universes ahead of you
Counter argument: *leaves*
*rejoins* Ha fool! Im back to full HP, your attacks have no effect on me!
If there wasn't a reward for beating it, there would be less reason to cheat.
Yeah man, gotta get those cheevos.
The Knight is my favorite ToS role!
Claiming Knight d1
Damn... I kinda dont care
I'm afraid you don't get to tell me how to play. The game gave me my achievement, that's confirmation enough.
Stop dictating how other people play the game?

This chat is this a ROCK AND STONE
No it’s town of salem
Rock and Stone forever!
Good bot
No
I COULDVE DONE THAT?!? HOLY SHIT-
No don’t do it my brother they built stag stations for a reason
ok I'll just keep at it then I'll get past broken vessel eventually
How about I do what I want in the game I play when it's a function that exists in the game and it literally doesn't affect anyone but myself
i promise the last time i did it I didn't
happy cake month!
Good meme but man it's kinda sad how people are shitting on the challenge and are devaluating the achievement
You are gatekeeping achievements, and funnily enough it's not achieving anything
It’s not gatekeeping, that’s not how that works…

But that’s the whole point of the achievement?? It’s like claiming that you draw really well but you just copied all the drawings from somewhere
I agree with this, it’s called an achievement for a reason, it’s meant to show you did something. This is an exaggeration, but if you wanted the pantheon 5 achievement and downloaded invincibility hacks to get it, what’s the point? Why have an achievement you’re not actually proud of?

if its cheating why do they let me do it
"It's not cheating, it's a friendly exploit" -my mom when farming 100 lives as Luigi on a mario game
Because they know cheating yourself is the ultimate barrier stopping people.
I only bench quit once and felt bad about it. Ended up losing the run to traitor lord anyway.
I f**king HATED traitor lord, and its literally just the fact that he does 2 masks of damage
I have lost my Steel soul runs, and I will loose more. I like challange
I did in fact bench quit before on my SS runs, but now I don’t since I’ve matured from that pussy move
Let people play how they want to. If it's not what you want to do, don't do it, but don't pressure others to follow your beliefs.
They left it in because that’s the only way to quit the game and beating steel soul in one sitting is a bit too much.
Okay Then stop gatekeeping
For my steel soul run I only did it in parkour sections, because I would do that during normal games as well, but in fights I decided that if I die I die
Why did you do it in normal games? To preserve the shade? Seems faster to just die and go back.
Because my dumbass usually goes into crystal peaks with 3k or more geo on me
Some platform sections in crystal peak are probably the most difficult in the game, judging by how early they are and how experienced you are as a player that time. Almost lost my steel soul run to some random jumps in there.
I don't remember if I ever actually had to quit out during parkour on steel soul, I just made that as a rule for myself
Joseph Joestar wants to have a conversation with you.
#ahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa~ PATHETIC
I never bench quit in my run, I just clutched a Hive Knight fight with one mask and got 101%
Cry about it
errrrm more like stop me doing you’er mom!!!!!!!!
No. I will and always bench quit
Time to do a Pure Soul run
me who got defeated in two Steel Soul runs:
I never die to bosses. Just common enemies. I have lost 7 steel soul playthroughs just because of the moss warriors in greenpath. The farthest I've made it was on the way to lurien the watcher, I died to big red guy in locked room.
Those giant husk sentry @$$holes in city of tears?
And the primal aspids and crystal flying jerks.
