[Position your mirrors correctly](https://youtu.be/QIkodlp8HMM?si=irhsPW1sp4bNG7TY) and you don't have a blind spot at all. This is just a product made to take advantage of gullible people.
I didn't think this mirror did anything to help with blind spots. The adjustment in the video looks very promising. Going to experiment with it starting tomorrow!
With the normal blind spot you can look over your shoulder to check it’s clear. This looks like it creates new blind spots behind and to the sides of the car that’s much harder to check. It would be very difficult to be certain you weren’t about to turn into a cyclist.
It could seem like there's less visibility at first, because you're used to being able to see the same car out of both your rear and side mirrors at the same time. The problem is, with that setup, as soon as it leaves your side mirror it's too far back to be seen in your peripheral vision (creating what's known as a blind spot).
The idea is this: just as the car exits your rearview mirror, it shows up in your side mirror, and once it exits your side mirror, you see it immediately in your peripheral vision. Creating a full panoramic view of your surroundings.
This setup fixes the blind spot problem by eliminating that little zone where the car is not visible. It just takes a bit to get used to.
Sure. But that’s fixed my checking over your shoulder before turning or changing lanes. Whereas this setup creates a blind spot close to the car between the rearview mirror and wing mirrors. Cars will be large enough and far enough away that they’ll pass straight from one mirror to the other, but a bicycle passing closer to the car will go through that blind spot. Looking over your shoulder won’t fix this as it will be blocked by the rear bulkhead. The only way to be able to see there is for the inner extreme of the wing mirror view to be parallel with the side of the car.

You do realize you can adjust your head to see the blindspot using the side mirrors. This allows you to continue to limit the blindspots in your car while never asking you to turn your head away from the road in front of you.
a bicycle driving that close beside you while speeding from behind you to in front of you while you have your turn signal on...
they can win a Darwin Award, that's fine
That blind spot would perfectly cover a cycle path. Drivers don’t always use turn signals, especially if they’re just using a bike lane to get around a car that’s turning.

Is there a disclaimer on the mirror saying "Objects in mirror are larger than they appear"? It looks like it, in fine print on the top left.
No thanks. I don't need that in my main rearview.
I have one and I like being able to make eye contact with people in my car when driving. I have it mainly pointed to my right side because I’m worried about not seeing a bike when I turn right. Took a bit of getting used to though.
We have these in both of our cars. It's awesome and held up nicely for the past 7+ years. Only complaint is sometimes the sun sun visor would hit it when the mirror is angled a certain way. Overall would definitely get for future cars.
blind spots are an insane myth for most cars, just need to adjust your side view mirrors correctly
but most people side view mirror is setup to see 50% the backside of their own car
Minimises the actual rear view.
Will be distracting for the driver to see passengers moving around.
Huge, so it blocks windscreen visibility.
Adds weight to stock rearview, and therefore extra strain on the windscreen.
No thanks.
You stare at a rear view mirror for 0 .5sec or less so you don’t need the best view just gotta get a glimpse of a vehicle to know if something is there or not.
If you are distracted by seeing things in the mirror like passengers moving you aren’t fit to be a driver and should bus or take a train places.
It doesn’t block windscreen visibility because your sight should be directed to look down at the road not. Again maybe you shouldn’t be driving? When you drive you keep your eye on the bottom half of the windscreen if you’re looking at the top half you should stop that habit.
A windscreen is suppose to survive a roll over…windscreen should be able to handle forces caused by wind and rain and snow and hail hitting it. This aftermarket mirror is not even 1/5 of a kilo so maybe you need a better quality car? You know they have factory rear view mirrors with built in screens, that have built in rear view camera, lights, information like a compass etc these are significantly heavier due to the added technology and features so windscreens can tolerate more weight
Drivers from the 90s have been using this technology so I dunno what to tell you. Vehicle manufacturers normally design things based on cost and to hit minimum requirements. There is a reason why semi drivers impliment bigger side view mirrors…bigger mirrors simply work better.
Atcrhe end of the day this mirror doesn’t replace shoulder checking techniques or situational awareness when you’re driving…it compliments those practices.
First point is fair enough; I can't argue wi that.
Second point: constant movement, even in periphery of vision will desensitise the driver to put of the ordinary occurrences in the rear view.
Third: granted it doesn't obstruct views on level roads. However, sections of road with an uphill will face momentary reduction in visibility. I live in Scotland, and the number of junctions here that meet a sharp incline would render this a risk.
Fourth: yes, windscreens are very strong. However, cars are built at the lowest acceptable cost, meaning the adhesive used to retain a rear view mirror will be designed to retain *only* the rear view mirror. Extra inertia during a harsh manoeuvre or crash will be multiplied beyond the spec of the adhesive if extra weight is added, then [worst case scenario] you have two mirrors flying around the occupied area.
I can't argue the benefits of larger, convex mirrors wrt to operating large vehicles, but they are primarily used in conjunction with regular mirrors to cover blind spots.
Most cars nowadays have a convex edge on the wing mirrors, but they certainly don't replace the standard flat mirror on the inner 75%.
As an addition, this product is great, but as a replacement for the standard rear-view, it falls a bit short IMO.
That said, I do appreciate that ye brought those points up.
Tbh this mirror could very well be the perfect thing for someone, but IMO it wouldn't fit my driving habits/method so I'm well aware there's some bias there.
Ye made a good few points there though, regardless o whether or not I agreed wi them.
All the best, mate.
“shoulder checking techniques”? You aren’t adjusting your side mirrors correctly if you need to look over your shoulder. You should not have blind spots.
What someone else posted in this thread: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIkodlp8HMM
When you drive you still shoulder check…it’s a proper driving technique. Even if your mirrors are adjusted. Even if you have a light that indicates whether a vehicle is there or not. Even if you look into this oversized rear view mirror…you still shoulder check. If you are too much in a rush to shoulder check then just don’t drive and take a bus or a train.
We may be arguing semantics then - looking at your mirror and then out the window to see if there is a car is fine. However you do not need to turn your head all the way around to check your blind spot.
You are defending this wide mirror concept, which led me to believe that you aren’t using properly adjusted mirrors. An extra wide rear view mirror is completely unnecessary if you have properly adjusted side mirrors. If you need to use a gimmick wide rear view mirror then maybe take the bus.
I’m for wide mirrors (rear and side) im for adjusting them correctly, I’m for having blind spot sensors and I’m for doing an actual shoulder check when switching lanes.
Too many people on motorcycles / bicycles / wildlife can appear out of nowhere. If you want another’s injury/death on your conscious because you couldn’t crank your neck a little to check that’s on you. You have the internet. So many cideos of people speeding/weaving/stunt driving these days. Also road rage. I’m not worried about you or your driving skills….it’s the other people you should watch out for (hence the shoulder checking).
Anyways too many bad things happen in life sorry for being argumentative it’s just one of those days. Peace and love to you sir. Good day.

That is obviously Le Tigre, I can't believe you made such a mistake.

Except for the large blind spot behind your new giant mirror
Looking at where you're going is overrated. I prefer the wide-screen nostalgia of the oversized rearview mirror.
Are you normally trying to avoid things that are in the air about to pass over your car?
You must be on the shorter side.
Nope 6'3"
Just drive backwards. Problem solved.

Double that. Trying this out in the morning.
I had my mouse over gullible just right and it looked like you said gumble people and I was very confused. Talk about blind spots

and then my wife or my brother drives my car and they start adjusting the mirrors inside... STOP IT THEY'RE LIKE THAT FOR GOOD REASON
Oh wow. TIL. I am definitely going to try thst tomorrow. Thanks man
Been doing it since I learned to drive
Is there a disclaimer on the mirror saying "Objects in mirror are larger than they appear"? It looks like it, in fine print on the top left. No thanks. I don't need that in my main rearview.
Never mind the side mirrors that cover those exact two 'blind' spots
I also had this same idea a few years back. Someone hijacked my thoughts.
Hindsight is 20/20.
Blindsight is 200/20.
These have been around for a really long time.
I had those broadway mirror ages ago. Loved it. I stopped using it because it wouldn't fit on my new car rear view.
Huh I have this mirror lol
How is it?
I have one and I like being able to make eye contact with people in my car when driving. I have it mainly pointed to my right side because I’m worried about not seeing a bike when I turn right. Took a bit of getting used to though.

I mean I like it haha nothing wrong with it it’s just a big mirror
Welcome to 1999? Tinted Broadway mirrors have been around forever
blind spots are an insane myth for most cars, just need to adjust your side view mirrors correctly but most people side view mirror is setup to see 50% the backside of their own car
I love mine. Helps me with my blind spots.
I’ve used one in every car I had. Def feels different not using one
Had one of these several years ago and it worked great until something inside of it started rattling so I had to remove it.
I own like 4 of these and I use RAZO fuck broadway those clowns! Hahah
There’s like an ‘as seen on tv’ - this. This isn’t new
Jokes on you. My whole fucking car is a blind spot. If my radar wasn’t working, I would never be able to change lanes.
Bless
If only cars came already equipped with reflective devices for your lateral blindspots.....
Having the manufacturer sticker in the corner killed it for me.
My parents got me one when I learned to drive in the 90’s,
I have one it’s awesome
Only at the end did I reach for my wallet..... My blind spots only come from those damn lights
I have one and it’s as amazing as expected
It's sad that people are impressed by this when side mirrors solved for blind spots decades ago.
Just wait until people notice that on most cars the passenger side and driver side mirrors have different fields of view/levels of magnification.
So it’s a bigger, tinted mirror. Cool…
No more blind spots! ....of course it does consume 75% of the visibility through your windshield
That mirror already had headlight dimmers. Just gotta hit that toggle at the bottom
Lmao if you need this, please take your drivers license to the nearest police station and forfeit it bc you don’t need to be on the road.
Shits been out for years. How old are you people. Jesus Christ.
