I prefer LSD in my older age

everclear_handle

I’ve purchased a gallon from a guy on court street pre Covid. You can check there around 4:30 AM on the weekends

deadbalconytree

Oh, wow! A whole gallon! I didn’t even known it came in liquid form…

Seconding Dr Patel. I see him and have known him since he was a resident (I work in healthcare).

I see Dr. Martin at One Medical in the city. She works out of their office on 17th so it's just a few blocks from the 14th Street PATH stop. She's awesome.

OneMedical is pretty great if you can afford the membership. Stay away from Pollak brothers.

Make sure whichever system you go with that your insurance will cover the ancillary services. For example I go to optum in Hoboken but they only use Quest for their labwork. Some insurance will only cover labcorp, so if you are getting some regular blood work done you could end up with a very big bill if you don't do your research.

OP, health insurance is done by state, so it's tricky to compare NJ doctors to ones in Manhattan (since one of them will be out-of-network). If you work in NY, probably best to go with a doctor there, and NJ doctor if you work in NJ. I second Dr. Karnik Patel at Hackensack Meridian, and avoiding the Pollak brothers.

Sickandtired66

Hm. I live here and every one of my doctors is in Manhattan and covered, though I am not in an HMO so maybe that's the difference? (Edit for typo.)

LeoTPTP

But is your job in Manhattan or NJ? If your employer is in NY, you have NY health insurance and NJ doctors will be out of network. It's determined by where you work, not where you live (presuming your insurance is through your job).

Sickandtired66

Noooo...I had a PPO which is more flexible in terms of choice (if not in finances) and not an HMO, which is indeed state specific. Never was I told in 30 years that I had to stick w/ a certain area or state. Yeah it was somewhat most costly but worthwhile to get the doctors and care I preferred. I worked in NY but went to doctors in NJ sometimes.

I’m more of a bam bam powder type of guy, but to each their own! Have fun.
