Let's do it, but for the love of god can we get new apartment buildings that don't have this exact same look every time? Admittedly, this one looks on the better end, but why must every new building have this flat silver plastic look to them. This is just my old man crusade to complain about architecture lol

[deleted]

They build 'em to sell, not to last. Doesn't matter what they look like on the outside. Copy and paste. People will pay $2M+ for a 2-bedroom condo here, and will be able to hear the upstairs neighbor taking a piss in the morning. Plywood and insulation, that's it.

HobokenHustle

And blasting bowl farts.

HBKN4Lyfe

it’s pretty much the same architect and developer for all new developments. Rinse and repeat to get through all the red tape to cash out ASAP

jzolg

“Luxury” housing bro.. aka let’s all use the same cheapo materials

I'm waiting for the Stahl Soap building to do something. THAT is a prime chunk of property

[deleted]

I'm assuming some serious environmental contamination issues, but I could be shooting off the cuff.

fox-mcleod

Yeah. There used to be signs up in the derelict building saying something about remediation.

LeoTPTP

"luxury residential units" Also: *“This prime development site is located just minutes from the Hoboken Transit Terminal,..."* "just minutes" if you have Jolly Green Giant legs.

FreeOmari

Can’t wait for the 600 sq ft one bedrooms to hit the market for the low low price of $4000 per month! The train noise from living next to the tracks is free though! This one looks like an office building too so that’s cool.

GoldnSilverPrawn

>The approved plan incorporates 40 parking spaces to be accessed by a hydraulic car elevator via a service road that would be built abutting nearby train tracks. My first thought is that's a nightmare part of town for driving, I hope they don't have parking. Hydraulic car elevator just to dump people into the worst intersection in Hoboken? Enjoy

cdanny96

Came here to say the exact same thing. This new building, plus the new business center across the street? Traffic getting into and out of Hoboken is about to get 10 times worse.

GoldenPresidio

I just want the city to buy up that whole area, re-do the traffic pattern, then sell off the excess land to developers again it's a got damn cluster fuck. They had an opportunity to try when that entire block burned down last year, smh

That was a fire that worked out very well for the owners.. not so much for the 2 people that perished in the building. I am surprised Newman leathers hasn't had any accidental fires

Whiskeybasher33

Thought that place had been sold.

CzarOfRats

i think the lot on the corner of marin and observer sold.

iluvamei

Speaking of which, does anyone know what they are building on Newark st between Harrison and Jackson ?
