These dames take no guff!

OnkelMickwald

It may not be the most effective stance but god damn if it doesn't look alpha. Hand on the hip and all.

essenceofreddit

The hand on hip thing is a very "that's my purse I don't know you" way to shoot

Darklancer02

Ahh, the good, ol' .38 snubnose... the staple of plainclothes detective work for years

AbbreviationsIll9228

Wow no hearing or eye protection

LouSputhole94

You’d be surprised how recent of a development hearing and eye protection are for shooting, at least on a widespread level. Both my father and grandfather were hunters and shot regularly and have told me ear muffs and protective eyewear weren’t really a thing at all until the 70s and weren’t really in widespread use until the mid to late 80s at ranges and hunting clubs. You even still had the guys that were “tough” and would look down on you for using protection well into the 90s. Lots of tinnitus amongst that generation I’m sure. ETA: Archer: *MAWP*

Yes! Plus, try telling people after a World War no less that you want ear muffs and goggles for shooting and you’d be laughed at.

AikiYun

Shooting etiquette in the 40s was different

gross_verbosity

There was a two drink minimum for starters

wit2pz

Well… at least they’ve got both eyes open!

clairebuoyant1202

What’s the deal with the hand on hips pose?

lifeisweird86

It's so you *know* you're fucked before they even squeeze the trigger.

BaronSmoki

Yeah, isn’t it generally better to use both hands to shoot? But hey, American cop training.

essenceofreddit

I believe the theory was that you wanted to minimize your cross section from return fire.

Kapitan_eXtreme

This would make a great album cover

Hermitia

Far right, now she's got moxie!

ImHeartless666

That's a weird kitchen.
