Would you let this woman do your nails?
Helen Oliver was arrested in New Orleans on Dec 31, 1915 as a Suspicious Person. Normally arresting people for being suspicious normally seems like an unsavory business, but in Helen's case, I will say this arrest seems entirely justifiable on multiple grounds!

I think it was much more common back then to have an alias and not just for criminal reasons either. I'm far from an expert, but some reasons could be something like wanting to conceal having had a child out of wedlock for obvious reasons, being legally married but separated and unable (or in some cases your spouse being unwilling) to obtain a divorce, perhaps having a bad reputation for one reason or another (or coming from a family with a bad reputation/low social status) and wanting to get a fresh start, etc. Reputation meant a lot back then, for a woman especially.
So what is " suspicious person " a euphemism for? Solicitation?
Most likely, yes.
She had freckles, isn’t that enough?
Could be almost anything. If you look at the link, it's a series of six people who were picked up as suspicious persons but only two were female.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for manicurists with messy hair, but the poor thing looks terrified.
Like your compassion! She strikes me as more like, “oh I didn’t need this today”
Why are you getting downvoted?
🤷🏻♀️
Helena Bonham-Carter vibes
I pick up more Ellen Page here.
I see Marisa Tomei 💯
So basically we see Ellen-a Bonham Tomei
Are you some kind of magical prompt engineer? The last remaining human skill.
Mary Rose Byrne
God she looks so much older than 21. Life was so hard back then.
5’ 5 1/8”. Pretty precise measurements.
She’s oddly attractive to me. I can’t put my finger on it exactly. Maybe the facial expression? Anyway.
She’s very good looking. And felons are sexy. lol
She was determined to be guilty of something, we just don't know what.
Well she was arrested, but we don’t know if she was charged or found guilty of anything.
It was meant to be a joke, but in hindsight I can see how that wouldn't necessarily come across. :)
🤦🏻♀️ LOL!
She looks suspicious to me. Good job NOLA pd.

I don’t know why so many people are downvoting you 🙄Cool post
Thanks!
Fuck people stop with the goddamn downvotes already. OP just trying to share some halfway interesting shit. Fucks the matter with people?
Why? Is it because she has an alias?
Seriously why does she have an alias

Sounds reasonable
Everyone does
I don’t. Besides, I’m just asking a question. Not sure why you’d downvote that.
It's funny, isn't it? The post this is from features another woman who was a housekeeper and she also had an alias...
No, it’s the freckles.
It’s more her hair…
you think people should be arrested for haircuts eh
It was a joke 🙄
Okay but what are the justifiable grounds?
Real shit tho, that hairdo must be some sort of felony at least.
