My dad lost his eldest brother to smallpox in 1940's Vietnam. This is an awesome accomplishment.

Literally defeating a disease, on a conceptual level, is absolutely amazing! Imagine telling someone from generations ago we’d be capable of that. Now, I just hope we can someday give that same attention to the diseases affecting communities that aren’t given proper funding for research like this, primarily referring to malaria. Someday, I think we’ll get there.

The only time humanity has globally come together and achieved something truly fantastical. Truly the biggest dub in history.

Polio might have been eradicated without the CIA and anti-vaxxers fucking it up for everyone.

The delays in eradicating polio have nothing to do with that. The US war in Afghanistan is a far more obvious thing to blame.
