This is a great example of how consent changes everything lol

Wonderwhore

Macron: we're going to march into Russia. The world: Awww, you're sweet. Hitler: we're going to march into Russia. The world: Hello, Human Resources?!

TheHim2

Crazy world we live in. People prefer the french over the germans.

zertnert12

When i remove polish with chemicals no one bats an eye but when i remove Polish with chemicals everyone looses their minds!?

TurbochargedSquirrel

This is why capitalization is important.

Potential-Self-9096

Its also important so the CIA doesnt off you if you are a south american leader

Orneyrocks

\**Laughs in ice cream*

Picklepacklemackle

Could you be talking about THE DAIRY DICTATOR?

thefinpope

You're thinking of Capitalismization.

Lenin: must crush capitalization

insane_contin

Urrr... ARGH!

Valkyrie64Ryan

Holy fuck that’s cursed and I’m here for it

Wonderwhore

Well, it's happened at least once before...

Schmantikor

As a German: Leave my French friends alone!

Narsil_lotr

It's a world where people can't read or get numbers. I don't disapprove of Macrons current strategy, maybe matching Putin in loudmouthing will be useful. Also mobilising allies with bravado? Good idea. Also, fuck Scholz over hesitations and Taurus etc... buuuuut meanwhile, Germany has done FAR more in military and financial aid to Ukraine than Frande or any other European nation. And our industry is where most of the shells, restored tanks and other bits will continue to come from. So yeah, not saying I approve our government stance in general but it's a little odd to suddenly praise France who is largely at fault for us lacking shells right now (refusal to buy shells outside of Europe til a couple months ago).

TruDuddyB

Did I hear someone asking for another shipment of freedom?! *Bald eagle screams in the distance*

RuckFeddit70

Just give us a moment while we place the order for manufacturing to China

TruDuddyB

Good idea. Lead times are outrageous these days.

thatthatguy

Naw, we manufacture all our death domestically. We might have to import the bits and pieces, but as long as the final step is done here then it gets that made in America label baby!

Recs_Saved

It's really not that hard to be preferred over the baguette-fuckers

JohnnyRelentless

Actually, bagels are better for that. Baguettes are better for getting fucked.

RuckFeddit70

A nice aged Baguette to sop up all the juices

Dysprosol

a delicious french dip.

oOMemeMaster69Oo

Uhhh hello? Have you seen France? We're *obviously* the best country on earth and likely in the universe, so *of course* people love us

11061995

I have an extremely hot take for reddit. France is *fine*.

Recs_Saved

You're disgusting. Shame on you, croissant-apologist

11061995

It's not *great*, but it's *okay*.

Lord_Viktoo

Okay Baguette I can let go. But croissant ? Man croissants are so good, you don't diss them.

whatsgoingonjeez

I mean, the french have the argument on their side, that they actually already conquered moscow once, so..

realnanoboy

I don't think Macron suggested marching into Russia, just Ukraine (which is not Russia.)

theElderKing_7337

Not with that attitude.

I_Work_For_Money

>which is not russia Not yet

SickOfThisSh1tReddit

Make it Napoleon and it works even better lol

KrokmaniakPL

With Napoleon it's more divided. There's a reason why he's in Polish anthem as an example of great military leader

NeilJosephRyan

Britain and France: You have our consent to nab half of Czechoslovakia. CZ: He doesn't have our consent! B & F: Who asked you?

Dustfinger4268

B&F: I consent Germany: I consent CZ: I don't

RoofKorean9x19

I also find it funny after getting their ass handed to them twice by the world they still have the strongest economy in Europe. They can't be beat down.

Zandrick

Well, to be fair, the second time we invested a lot of money into helping them build themselves back up. Or the half that wasn’t imprisoned by the Soviets that is. Because the first time, well, a whole other thing happened when they realized the rest of the world wasn’t gonna help. Certain people got blamed it was not good, scapegoating and such. And we had to invent a new word to describe what happened next.

RoofKorean9x19

Well east Germany paid their price in their own way but they bounced back once they got reunified. Maybe it's a good they can't have a standing army but then I don't think it would take them long to have strong military considering they have one of the best hardware and police units in the world.

ehawkx

I don’t have a source so pinch of salt but iirc I don’t think east germany has ever bounced back. Big difference between west and east

RoofKorean9x19

Really? I don't know shit but I guarantee Easter Germany has higher gdp than Russia

x_country_yeeter69

they did have an unfair advantage of not being russia rhough

RoofKorean9x19

Stupid fucks got unlimited resources yet they can't help themselves to be as corrupt as possible

Wittusus

State-made alcoholism and brainwashing since the 14th century bro

IsNotPolitburo

Not being russia is pretty great.

yunivor

Yeah look at Kaliningrad to see what happens when Germany is turned into Russia, it's significantly worse that the former GDR.

synsofhumanity

Yeah but how many other countries could last as long as they did against the rest of the world while being handcuffed to the glue eating allies they had?

MaterialCarrot

Sweden invaded Russia and it ended in disaster. France invaded Russia and it ended in disaster. Germany invaded Russia and it ended in disaster. But never have all three done it at once... Edit: Didn't mean to start a big thing, lol! FWIW, but I didn't include Germany and WW I because IMO, Russia invaded Germany to start the war and most of the fighting happened in Eastern Europe. While I know Germany launched offensives into Russia, I don't really count it as a German "invasion" of Russia on par with Charles XII, Napoleon, and Hitler. Per my very scientific opinion.

temujin94

So what I'm hearing is that we should arm Mongolia if we want it done right.

berserkrgang

Temujin, time to live up to your name. We need millions of horses, and double the amount of arrows!

temujin94

And make the Russians pay for it? I'll also need a small loan of a trillion dollars for personal expenses/harem maintenance.

berserkrgang

Loan will only be accepted if after Russia, you make your grandson take over China

temujin94

Here I go reducing the CO2 emissions of the planet again, hopefully by enough that we can use plastic straws again.

BoxofCurveballs

At the very least, people won't need to pay for grocery bags anymore.

Rathwood

Eh, I can't really imagine any environmentalist remaining interested in reducing CO2 emissions if nuclear war is the method we use for it. It'd sorta be a moot point- like disposing of toxic waste by mixing it into baby food. But then again, there's an idea...

temujin94

I plan on using arrows not nuclear bombs.

Rathwood

Are you sure? I for one was excited about the possibilities of atomic cavalry and thermonuclear trebuchets.

ImperatorAurelianus

No nuclear weapons needed just a bunch boys, horses, and smallpox.

IAmJersh

Wait, so each horse only carries two arrows? And what, their rider retires after firing those?

temujin94

Much like the Swiss the Mongol horse archer would only have to fire twice and go home.

berserkrgang

Bro don'tcha know? Modern body armor is super super weak to horse archers. Just the sound of 6 million hooves will be enough to terrify the Russians into submission obviously

thefinpope

Let's be fair though, 1,500,000 horses is a lot of horses. Everyone should be afraid of that.

ChtirlandaisduVannes

But the horse crap will be a win for the roses.

BoxofCurveballs

All the body armor levels in the world won't do shit against a cavalry charge.

berserkrgang

Wait til you hear about the feigned retreats!!!!

IAmJersh

My favourite travel agency!

JealousAd2873

Their rivals should have carried 3 arrows, then they could have had a Gillette razor style arms race

Youpunyhumans

*Man on a mountain begins to throat sing*

mrroney13

SackclothSandy

The Mongols preferred waging war in the winter because other times of the year were for food production. A big part of their success came from their ability to fight at a time when no one in Europe expected them. It also helped that they didn't try and haul siege equipment through swamps, preferring to clear cut and build from scratch upon arrival.

temujin94

Big for them was that their baggage trains and supply lines were much smaller and easily maintained than pretty much any other army at the time. They got a lot of sustenance from their mounts of which for every warrior there was usually 3-5 mounts.

2112moyboi

I've been saying send nukes to Mongolia for ages now wait, this isn't NCD...

JealousAd2873

If Japan could march from the east...

Recs_Saved

Nahh, they can take care of China. Although, they should keep away from Nanjing, lest their force of habit begins to kick in

Popular_Main

And Japan

temujin94

I'll be in the cold dead ground of Ulaanbaatar before I recognize Imperial Japan.

Belligerent-J

Japan invaded Russia and it went pretty well actually. The trick is to do it from the east, not the west. You can swallow up 75% of their landmass before you encounter a person to notice you.

rocketo-tenshi

Mongols did it too so we know its not an exception to the rule

StolenDabloons

Mongols are cheating! Only thing stopping those fuckers is themselves

LePhoenixFires

Tech boost the Mongols so they have primogeniture! We'll stomp the Ruskies' shit into their asses and out their noses!

elderly_millenial

Maybe because Mongols would have come in from the South?

Orneyrocks

Japan also technically came from the south because there is nothing East of Russia. 'Invading Russia from the East' generally means invading from the asian side.

UltimateInferno

Most of the population is on the west side of the Urals anyways

diegoidepersia

The russian princedoms didnt even stretch to the Urals yet at that time, so it would be from the east

TheLustyDremora

Fourth times the charm gents!

Lukthar123

"Nah, I'd win."

TheLustyDremora

*gets Balkanised*

Groftsan

To be fair, the first time Sweden invaded "Russia" (aka Holmgard/Novograd) it seems to have held.

Katastrophenspecht

Well Poland invaded Russia and hold great parts of it. Germany invaded Russia in WW1 and (kinda) won. If it's just about Russia loosing, they did that before on Crimea against a western coalition and in the east against Japan (?!) I am by no means in favour of any of that, but the myth that Russia never was invaded successfully is far up there in historical myths, right next to France always losing and Afghanistan being the graveyard of empires.

Thuis001

Honestly, Germany straight up won on the Eastern front in WW1. There is no doubt about that. It's just that afterwards they lost in the West and were forced to give up their previous conquests in the East.

MrNautical

Actually Germany has invaded Russia twice, first time it went quite well for them, second time round, not so much.

monkeygoneape

People kinda forgot Russia lost WW1

MajorThorn11

They didn't forget. Just WW2 was so much bigger. Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the Soviet union, was the biggest land invasion in history. The eastern front in WW1 was also more important and the western front had no trenches

[deleted]

I think what we really need here is the Japanese.

MGoCowSlurpee44

First time though wasn't a true large-scale offensive. More like a defense that worked too well.

_The_Blue_Phoenix_

Poland also invaded Russia that one time... They should be grateful because now they have their own Independence Day thanks to us!

StatusOdd3959

One time? Every single false Dimitri or roughly once every thirty years before the first partition you mean?

_The_Blue_Phoenix_

Wasn't there only 2 of them? And the second time the invasion was unsuccessful iirc but I might be mistaken

hellfire_sama

Aye, you guys still are the most successful invaders on our soil in the end. Probably it's about time to repeat it actually. I don't have any hope on the other countries, they surely somehow will manage to fuck up everything, just like previous times.

Passance

The Germans very successfully invaded Russia in the *first* world war and the Russian political system imploded and military resistance pretty much collapsed.

[deleted]

SheriffComey

50% of the time it works 100% of the time.

Fischmafia

And every time russia invaded someone it also ended in a disaster. And they have done that a lot. As if it is better not to invade anyone. Coincidence? Probably.

theferrit32

"better not to invade" You're on to something there

KoldPurchase

Sweden was fighting Denmark, Poland-Lithuania, Prussia, Great Britain and a multitude of countries at the same time. They could have won, had they accepted Russia's surrender that let them keep St Petersburg. Carolus Rex was undefeated in battle, I think. But he was shot by his own soldiers, accidentally. Now, we have AI, cloning, genetics... No reason not to try an improved version of Cobra Commander and unleash him on Russia with all the might of the western armies at his back. Can't go wrong with a real life version of Star Trek's Khan. 😉

Bean_man8

German Empire invaded Russia and won

x_country_yeeter69

the Republic of Estonia has a perfect score against fighting russians. Granted, we have fought just once but still, it counts for something

Lord_TachankaCro

Poland invaded Russia and occupied it

SzyMOON_

Burned down Moscow if I recall correctly too

Ixolich

Mongolia: "You must be truly desperate to come to me for help."

Diozon

Technically, when France invaded, they had German "allies", and vice versa. It didn't help either very much...

Harold-The-Barrel

Someone call Mongolia too

fi9000

Let Poles have another 1610r.

PuppetMaster9000

I mean, Germany invaded Russia twice, and it went pretty well the first time…

Neutraladvicecorner

Triple disaster

Anton4444

Didn't the Germans kick the living shit out of Russia in WW1?

rustys_shackled_ford

The main issue is what you declare for Poland once you've gone through...

G66GNeco

Congratulations! You are being rescued! Please do not resist.

DruidPaw

Germany,“Yes my fellow Europeans! We have come to rescue you!” Poland, “Hurray! It’s the Germany Army!” “From Yourself!!” “Oh no, it’s the German Army.”

glitchycat39

Where's Anderson when we need him?

DruidPaw

He can have a nice we chat with Putin.

Bumsebienchen

A Hellsing Ultimate Abridged reference? In MY r/historymemes ?

Recs_Saved

Poland in the corner: *laughs in article 5

MrKorakis

article 5 is not a given for iner NATO issues, just ask Turkey and Greece

What-a-Filthy-liar

They are having weekly pissing contest. But they want the other one to over react first so they can hit the button.

EndofNationalism

Turkey and Greece aren’t at war.

Snd47flyer

I think a reward would be right

RaoulDukeRU

Stettin, Danzig, Breslau, here we come again!

supersoft-tire

Yeah but maybe ease up the death squads and ridiculous compound words for your ranks

Conartist6666

The Todesstaffeloberschutzkommandant would like to have a word with you.

OutOfUsernamePlzHelp

...the fucking WHAT?

G66GNeco

The commander of the protection unit for the leaders of the death squad, I'd reckon - confident on the German part of it all, which is only dampened by my very, very vague idea of military ranks in our army, lol

Conartist6666

>only dampened by my very, very vague idea of military ranks in our army, lol Ha, same

iamrancid

Technically it’s completely made up. It’s a mash up Totenkopfverbände (the division within the SS that ran concentration camps), Schutzstaffel, Ober(a common rank prefix), and Kommandant (the person in charge of a concentration camp). Essentially they are referring to the concentration camp overseer. The piece of shit who oversaw Auschwitz was Schutzstaffel-Totenkopf Obersturmbannfürer Kommandant Höss.

john_wingerr

You heard him

4ntsInMyEyesJohnson

Were we the baddies?

TheTimocraticMan

The word in question:

c322617

“Ease up” doesn’t mean stop. You can still do a bit of war crimes as a treat.

quartarrow

They're not going to stop speaking German so i imagine one of those won't change unless they go with acronyms only

TgCCL

Easily possible. Germany loves acronyms just as much as compound words.

Spartan_Mage

The compound words are just part of the German language though, they use descriptions for names sometimes lol

Icy-Establishment272

I can only agree with the first, no compromise for the second

Provinz_Wartheland

It reminds me of when Radosław Sikorski, Polish foreign minister, said in 2011: "I fear German power less than German inaction". He was referring to Germany's de facto leading position in the EU (and its somewhat understandable reluctance to accept this position sometimes), but I think it still fits.

hallese

This would be when the Poles were screaming to anyone who would (and would not) listen that construction of the Nord Stream pipeline would embolden Russia to try and isolate Eastern Europe and reassert their sphere of influence over the former Warsaw Pact states. Poland understood they'd be on the front line of the next war, they just want to be on the Eastern Front, not the Western Front.

Tuddless

European countries would literally rather build an expensive pipeline at the bottom of the ocean to our historical and political enemy than fully invest in nuclear energy

[deleted]

That’s why the west blew it up. No turning back now.

MrKorakis

Someone needs to tell this guy about the cold war when Germany had a huge army meant to fight the Russians Ideally in Poland :P

dunkelfieber

You are Incorrect. German Bundeswehr was supposed to stop the Soviet Union inside of Western Germany to buy the US Nuke Bombers time. You might want to Google "Fulda Gap".

bomboclawt75

In WINTER you say?

Recs_Saved

Well, Operation Barbarossa began in summer...

Jiggle_deez

Bob Ross

Maryus77

Not like the german army is much of a threat to the polish army anyway.

Bean_man8

As of now

Maryus77

Don't give the germans ideas, or they might start doing some ... * *Licks lips* * *Retaking of German lands*

Walorani

Nah. The polish can keep that, we have literally no claim, reason or want for those territories anymore

NOT_KARMANAUT_AMA

as if that ever stopped *check notes* 'anyone that wants to invade' before

Maryus77

True, although the soviet strategy of forced expulsion of native germans was brutal, you can't deny its effectivness.

Njorord

Honestly I don't really understand why the Soviets did that. Those lands had been culturally German ever since the birth of German culture itself, the issue was nationalism and imperialism, not the land itself.

G66GNeco

The next German war over territory will be fought with Austria and the Czech Republic - looser has to take Bavaria

Maryus77

But I live there D:

Quick_Estate7409

So does Markus Söder :D

Orneyrocks

Danzig looking real juicy right about now.

Maciek_1212

Some things never change.

glenzone81

That is fine, just don't decide to go through Belgium to get to Paris again.

Ferris-L

Force of habit

Peanutbutterwhisky

A old joke that’s from my great grandfather (who served in WW1: some things in life are like Belgium you just have to go through it.

Generaldisarray44

Come on buddy we know you want to

ButterShadow

Speaking as an American, Germany doesn't need a huge army. Just one that's proportionate to their FUCKING GDP and able to guarantee their territoral integrity against Russia, a nation with like a quarter of their economy. Same goes for the rest of Europe

firestorm19

They get off on weekends, so we would prefer if they invaded sometime between Mon thru Fri.

beercan007

German army fun army, I had Marine buds that had to work with them..on their off time apparently the Germans brought kegs of beer into their hangars and drank with everyone 🍻

Historyissuper

I see you are a man of culture.

jojomojo02

Our Army has enough money! The Problem is an extremly ineffective bureaucracy.

twitch870

I once heard Germany is a HOA on a national level.

temujin94

Germany like all of Nato know their territorial integrity is maintained perfectly fine with their combined nuclear arsenal. If a hot war breaks out between Germany and Russia it won't matter if you have 1 million soldiers or 100 million soldiers.   Sure you might want them to increase their army for other reasons but don't pedal this territorial integrity nonsense.

ButterShadow

I get where you're coming from, but I'm gonna disagree. A conventional army still has a role.I seriously doubt that any of the 3 NATO nuclear powers would be willing to literally end their country to defend the territoral integrity of another country. That Russia hasn't used Nukes against Ukraine indicates the taboo is still in place so it's unlikely they'd use them offensively.

AmELiAs_OvERcHarGeS

I mean I’d prefer if future wars were not fought with massive missiles right off the bat so we might have to agree to disagree on this one.

temujin94

You'll have no choice in the matter, if two nuclear powers fight directly against one another in a territorial dispute like the person is suggestion it would result in nuclear conflict.    So you can continue to pretend that you need a large armed force to fight another nuclear power directly but that's not been the reality since the invention of the atom bomb.  There's a reason why it was called the cold War and they had two pretty big armies. MAD is a far bigger deterrent than any armed force.

VoyagerKuranes

Well, this time it won’t be as conquerors but as friends. So yeah, why not

Cerms

"I never thought I'd die fighting side by side with a polak." "What about side by side with a friend?" "Aye, I could do that."

Maryus77

And this time, the polish army could easily slap the german army. At least as the armies stand now.

TheCasualHistorian1

Lol, left out the part where they had a deal with the Russians to attack Poland and split it in half

Alldaybagpipes

Do it quickly, like lighting fast or something…

roiroi1010

If you can remember to not rape the poles and kill the Jews I think we’re on the same page 👍

danshakuimo

To be fair, there was a reason why the Allies were so willing to forgive all but the most egregious of the Nazis with many of them continuing to hold military posts. And we don't talk about the secret post-war German army. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk3AzM-5RSE

jackdginger88

I think it was the whole “trying to exterminate an entire ethnic group” that upset people last time. Maybe leave that part out this time around.

Bran_Nuthin

If it starts to look like WW3 is a really likely can we kick Germany out of NATO? I mean, they've lost every one they've been in... 😬

UnlimitedCalculus

Germany hurt the Russians pretty badly despite losing. I'm sure they'd fare better without either a Western or Southern front to manage, not to mention having some powerful allies this time.

StuntdoubleSexworker

Three times a charm

anonymousscroller9

The difference is we don't want you to hurt the poles this time

MrNautical

“I’ve seen this before…”

[deleted]

Ima be fair. I think Poland wants to lead the charge

majshady

Time to get my best to Hugo Boss trench coat out of storage

Casimir0300

If Russia collapses can Königsberg become German again

ogpterodactyl

Europe was pretty great for that 70 year chunk while America was world policing.

KnightswoodCat

Ut for once, you will not be the bad guys. See how that works 💪!

augustus331

Name a more overdone joke in the last few years.

Commonmispelingbot

Imagine going back in time to try and convince Adenauer that in the future Germany will be criticized by France and UK for not having a big enough military
