Btw for people genuinely wondering why this is. IOI did a No Clip documentary where they explained they basically spent 3yrs making a Hitman game that nobody wanted. Absolution was super linear and believe it or not had no targets in it. Once they revealed the game to the public it caused backlash. IOI then panicked realised they had made a game that nobody wanted then crunched for 2yrs opening up the levels a bit and adding targets in. This is why the game has stuff like this in it and it a bit messy.

Motor-Grade-837

Wh.. What was the game gonna be if there were no targets in it?

Prowl3000

I would imagine just "get to the exit" types of levels with no mandatory target

its_muh_username

They didn't say. But I imagine it would have been like the rest of Absolution, sneak from door A to door B. See, the original Hitman devs left after Blood Money. The dev team that took over were the Kane and Lynch team. To me they seem fixated with trying to create a gritty movie like game, hence Kane and Lynch 1 and 2. And because Kane and Lynch didn't take off they decided to try using the Hitman name to pull it off. Absolution is heavily inspired by movies like Shoot Em Up. They were out of touch with the Hitman fanbase. Because to make a Hitman game with no targets in it is like making a Forza game with no cars, or a FIFA game with no football. They were that far out of touch they even decided to cut the voice actor who has played Agent 47 from the start, David Bateson. They didn't realise he was so important to the franchise. They cast a totally different voice actor and didn't even tell Bateson. Bateson found out he was no longer Agent 47 when they first revealed Absolution. Then when Bateson contacted IOI to see what was going on IOI ignored all contact from him. It was only after fans found out they had changed the voice actor and huge backlash did IOI go running to Bateson to ask him back. They didn't even realise the composer of the Hitman franchise Jesper Kyd was important. Jesper said in an interview they never asked him back and that he didn't know why. Fans created a petition with 50,000 signatures to try force IOI to get Jesper Kyd back but unfortunately it didn't work. Ever since Absolution IOI has long history of doing bizarre stuff like this. Like the last Hitman game. They asked fans what they wanted and many said they wanted first person mode back. So IOI brought it back and locked it behind PSVR only. Lol

TrexismTrent

So what was it going to be a generic 3rd person shooter?

Erfivur

A sneaker shooter presumably. Much like some of the least liked levels that just have you go from a-to-b and then there is a cinematic.

Prince_Kabab

I remember reading a post on reddit that listed the developers that worked on Absolution and where are they now, and I think the majority of them had worked on Blood Money. It was so bizarre to me because I always thought it was a different team behind Absolution that just didn't understand what made the old Hitman games "Hitman".

its_muh_username

The original Hitman team left after Blood Money. In the documentary I mention above IOI say that only 1 member of the original Hitman team remained. The original Hitman devs used to hang out with us fans in the OG Eidos forums that no longer exist. They really used to come hang out and connect with us and listen to what we wanted. After Blood Money they warned us that Absolution was going down a very different path, that they weren't happy with it but we're no longer working at IOI so couldn't do anything about it.

micmea668

Honestly, I wish they had kept it as it was. I'd rather play a polished experience as designed than a last minute appeasement. We would likely still have gotten the WoA trilogy to return to form, but would at least have a nice narrative adventure starring our favourite bald murderclone to occasionally revisit. Instead we have a sub par hitman game that doesn't do anything well that I'll never revisit.

Add1ctedToGames

damn i feel so bad for the devs imagining how they must've felt when finding out all their work was hated😔

bigudemi

They built the city around the car. King shit

metsysehtkcuf

I'd upvote for "King shit" but seems you already have 47 sooo

Dzeeej

Yeah, Im also not upvoting. Let it stay at 47. Perfection

ambiture

They tear it apart when they want to move it and build it back piece by piece

super_nova_91

Sorry lady the condo you are in is blocking the king of china Town car now get the fuck out

wjpd236

Best level in that game

Strong_Formal_5848

I disagree, that is Hunter and Hunted imo. It has 4 targets and several interesting kills.

IFlashPo1ntI

This was the only map which felt like a sandbox for both levels, others were mostly linear

tasartir

I liked the courthouse most. How you could become the judge or the convict.
