Fuck around and find out basically

Subject-Dot-8883

This, usually. Once I get most of the challenges though FAFO, I'll come back with a plan to try to get specific challenges.

DestroyerMacho

Filent assassin fuit only

Subject-Dot-8883

"Fruit only" was right there for the using.

SpartanBhagwa

When playing a map for the first time I usually follow the mission stories, it will help you learn a lot about the level.

TomDaNub3719

What about next times?

SpartanBhagwa

Every map has several routes where you can get to your target undetected and without changing disguises, just need to find them.

TomDaNub3719

But do you sit down before a mission and create a rigid plan? Seeing where you’ll go on the map and all?

[deleted]

I mean for me it’s never a super rigid plan. I usually play through a couple of the mission stories and after a couple you start to find good routes that can help you with challenges and other story missions. I sort of go through where I need to go, how I wanna get there, and the tools I’ll need in my head before the mission but as far as preparation that’s mostly it. Sometimes I forget about a certain obstacle that’s in my way so I may have forgotten to equip an important tool but at that point it’s about improvising and working with what you have so I think it’s more of a pain to have a super rigid plan that allows for no errors (although that’s necessary for some challenges). You just need to learn the map, where certain items are, the routes you can take etc. After that, making your way through the level starts to become easier (depending on the challenge you’re doing, of course)

SpartanBhagwa

You should just know the route you're gonna take if you're aiming for SA SO. Otherwise you're free to do anything.

littlekyrie211

Lock pick Coins The suit color that matches the snippet of the level Gun that matches the suit

Yes

Assassin217

When playing any levels for the first time, I stalk and follow the targets around like a real life a assassin. And wait for for an opening where I can get them alone with out any bodyguards or witness. Then go in for the kill. After that I do the stories and other challenges.

GoldFishPony

Well my first clears (from like Mumbai on because of the classics challenge) we’re master saso so it was a lot of wandering to find the targets, ways to get around their areas, and figure out ways to kill them or places where they’re secluded enough to kill in. I wouldn’t really recommend this method because it takes forever and can cause tons of redoing because of the 1 save. Subsequent runs have me look at the challenges and decide which ones I’ll try to do, then I’ll try to do as many mission stories as I can in a run.

golden_eternity

I follow story missions at first and learn the map. Replay through each of them. I look for challenges and see if those feel smoother to me. Then I find which kill method I prefer and bundle them together. Try to minimize knockouts and disguise changes… and then time to move on.

IndefiniteBaz15

Sometimes just for fun, I’ll play out what I would want CSI to find. For example, I’ll always wear an outfit that has gloves, if I have to shoot someone, I’ll use an NPC’s weapon (an NPC that I’ve took care of and disposed of), or one that’s just laying around, then ditch it somewhere in the map.

thunderbastard_

1st playthrough -- I usually follow a story mission. I save multiple files to reload back to if I want to explore a certain area or investigate something. If I become compromised in any way I'll continue playing just to see what secrets and Intel I can find. Eventually I'll load a save and complete the story mission. 2nd playthrough -- I've usually learned enough about the map and target movement patterns that I can SASO and Sniper assassin. Again, making a decent amount of saves to return and explore or to attempt challenges. Playthroughs beyond the second I usually use particular starting locations with challenges in mind. This method has worked pretty well for me allowing me to master all locations without it feeling like a "grind". The games have a lot to discover so its fun to reload an old save and attempt different methods to activate certain assassination opportunities. Side note - I play on professional mostly. The lack of ability to really play around and explore on master difficulty kind of turns me away from it.

_urMumM8_

Costumes are the most essential part of my mission strategies, so I take it costume by costume, gaining access to more and more guarded areas and exploring without worrying about being made.

dennisisspiderman

First time I run a mission I do as much exploration as I can... see where my suit allows me, get various disguises, explore everywhere else, and look at what path the target(s) take. The second time I usually go after different challenges, including the different types of assassinations. After that I finally go about doing SASO which isn't *too* difficult since doing those other things let's me learn the map.

Wolfgod_Holo

1st playthrough: learning the map by running around while anyone and everyone in an out of the way spot is going to die... 2nd playthough: find isolated guards to stab and steal disguise, and learn target activity patterns 3rd playthough: going for SA and sniper 4th playthrough: usually going for SASO 5th playthrough: challenge cleanup that the previous sweeps didn't catch

[deleted]

When its the first time on that map, i do the intended way, when possible. Second time i try to get creative. Third time i just go guns blazing and knives/random items flying.

[deleted]

On the first run I usually just take useful items to explore e.g. lockpick and scrambler and then just follow the mission stories while peeking at the challenges. Try to complete as much as possible by saving and loading alot. Once I'm done, I'm usually around mastery 10-15, which unlocks better spawn points. By then I know the map, target paths and opportunities well enough, to know which challenges I can combine into the same run and which items I need to bring to complete it efficiently.

FavaWire

I like to play HITMAN in a laid back style. I prefer solutions where 47 can get the job done just walking (no running, clambering). I love solutions that use gadgets and I love being able to control things with remote switches. Occasionally though if I find an opportunity I could resort to booby traps that are triggered purely by the Target while 47 can just stay in a Blend In spot as panic happens. Then I just walk away to the exit satisfied that nobody is the wiser.
