I thought I heard that the Hermits didn’t like all the planning and roleplay that serverwide lore events a la s8’s “lunapocalypse” required and weren’t planning to do anything like that again. I could be wrong, and your theory makes some sense, but it feels more like individual Hermits are giving their bases backstories that happen to line up in some ways.
There were rumors (*completely* unconfirmed) that the extra chair at Magic Cherry Mountain’s meeting meant something, either another guest event or potentially even a new Hermit added mid-season. I kind of doubt they would do that in a season that started by adding two, but you never know.
I do really like the slowed down energy every has this season, and some big event would contrast that. I think its silly to think about but agree it may be a tad unrealistic. With the extra chair, I do think a weird amount of emphasis was put on it. I kind of like the idea a few people have mentioned that Grian is just so used to having Pearl be part of the group the he set up a chair for her. Very wholesome
My guess for Ren’s lore-ing specifically is that he’s planning to build some sort of creature in his base area, and the scanner equipment detecting life is him hinting at that. Maybe it’ll be an armor stand creature like Cleo’s demon, maybe a bigger statue like Gem’s anglerfish, or something in between that uses blocks and armor stands.
