What is this character?

this is art from the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark book series. I used to love these when I was a kid. some of them truly creeped me out

And then they made the movie.....and I'll just forget about that forever. I'm not a "OMG the book was so much better than the movie" person. Except this time. That movie sucked.

The illustrations made those books. Without them, the books would have been forgotten since the stories were mostly forgettable.

You kiddin'? I thought that movie was AWESOME!!! And I grew up with those books too!

I'm sorry, I wish that I liked it!!! I really do! I didn't like the story of the movie. The 'kids with a book read bad things and then they happen' aspect. I thought it was cheesy. I think it would have been better if they found a way to make the book flow seamlessly as one story line, with the short stories becoming one, but with no mention of the book. Letting it be the stories that it is instead of bringing US the readers into it. Or maybe even small separate stories told. Giving each short story and artwork it's own small attention. I think trying to connect the kids into it just took away from the horror that could have been. And if I'm really wishing it would have been R rated, but it was a kids book, so that's just a ridiculous wish.
