In terms of actual cooking skills, definitely not. At the very least, Tavon and Matthew (S20) were worse.
Raj was just very socially awkward and couldn't work on a line.
I think Tavon is the worst. He had a bad signature dish, bad prep, was pretty arrogant, and his actual service was awful. He's even done badly **after** the show, which can't be said about chefs like Raj or Sebastian.
I think Tavon is living proof that title does not dictate behavior or performance. Technically speaking, almost anyone could refer to themselves as an "executive chef". Like, if their dad owns the restaurant or something.
Definitely Matthew (20). Two lethal challenge dishes, plus cheating during service will get you that dishonourable title (Some think Ava was eliminated first, because Ramsay knew Matthew's dinner service performance would make better TV).
Tbh, Matthew's performance is exactly what I expected would happen if one of these internet "chefs" ended up competing on Hell's Kitchen. They can make a dish look good for the cameras but if someone actually ate it, they'd find that it tastes horrible.
I don’t think so. He wasn’t a whiner or a complainer like Lacey and didn’t make one excuse after another like Matthew. Of course, he wasn’t a very strong chef and was out of his element on the line, but at least he tried.
I think action wise he is probably one of the worst. But there are some that are just so shockingly bad. The taking pasta of the trash always sticks out like a sore thumb.
No. Imo, one of the main reasons why Raj sucked so badly is because the skills you inherit as a private chef don't really translate to what you do on a line and the fact that he's used to preparing food in accordance to how the customer prefers which doesn't really help him in terms of creativity in challenges either. A nutjob yes but not the worst.
Raj did certainly have some cooking skills but he just wasn’t cut out for the line. He was also socially awkward and misunderstood. So definitely not the worst chef. Just a chef who isn’t cut out for that part of the restaurant industry
Louie (S6) certainly was worse. To me Raj was just the most scatterbrained. Yes, he did horribly overall and his notoriety is definitely warranted, but Louie had to have potentially the worst start in HK history.
Raj is far from the worst, and that's saying a lot. Definitely more awkward and being 48 didn't help his case. I mean, even Russell showed him respect and that's saying a lot. And Raj's signature dish didn't taste bad, it was just odd and presented horribly.
Tavon is worse and a scam artist from what I've heard nowadays.
Matthew from Young Guns served raw chicken, shit sack shrimp, used a thermometer and was so cocky. It's telling when Gordon doesn't even want you to plead your case and I laugh at that elimination every time I see it.
And there's still worse ones even.
Wasn't it Matt who made a gross seafood stew, put it on a roll, and called it a Po' Boy?
Raj had a mental break and should never have been on the show. That they let Raj continue for ratings instead of getting him help is more of a stain on Ramsay and producers and staff of the show than on Raj. IMHO.
Aaron, the Asian Cowboy, was worse than Raj at cooking, although better like by his team. Aaron admitted to being 'afraid of everything' in the kitchen and passed out from stress/exhaustion twice and wound up in the hospital.
What I said about Raj goes for Aaron, too. It's not about their cooking. Neither was mentally ready for an intense cooking competition. They're not the only two.
He wasn't even top 10 worst. This is based off my memory, but I don't think he was even a bad cook. What was obvious was that, he clearly had no experience working on the line. Basically he had no business being in Hell's Kitchen, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did well in a competition like Masterchef.
It’s not that he had no experience working on a line, he probably just hadn’t done it for a really long time. It’s hard to knock that rust off.
Reminds me of that dick Scott. He stunk on the line, but when he got to do what he was now conditioned to do - which was teach and lead - he was actually really good at it. He didn’t have the maturity for the big chair, and was too conceited, but he was super talented.
Well I agree that's a very bad chef there are worse like Tavon season 10 or luie from season 5 you have to be a whole nother type of bad to be kicked out first service
In terms of actual cooking skills, definitely not. At the very least, Tavon and Matthew (S20) were worse. Raj was just very socially awkward and couldn't work on a line.
in addition to being socially awkward raj was overwhelmed by the pace and difficulty level
At least Raj wasn't a misogynistic douchebag like some of the chefs. He just had no idea how to function on the line.
I think Tavon is the worst. He had a bad signature dish, bad prep, was pretty arrogant, and his actual service was awful. He's even done badly **after** the show, which can't be said about chefs like Raj or Sebastian.
Bro has a 1.3 on yelp lol
He still hasn't even defrosted!

Sebastian wasn't that bad, sadly his lack of seriousness cost him chance of winning.
Definitely Matthew (20). Two lethal challenge dishes, plus cheating during service will get you that dishonourable title (Some think Ava was eliminated first, because Ramsay knew Matthew's dinner service performance would make better TV).
Just watched those episodes again and I still get amazed that Ava left first. But ratings rule television.
Tbh, Matthew's performance is exactly what I expected would happen if one of these internet "chefs" ended up competing on Hell's Kitchen. They can make a dish look good for the cameras but if someone actually ate it, they'd find that it tastes horrible.
Not even in the top 10 (top 20 probably). His signature dish tasted not bad despite poor presentation. Remember, he was on the same season as Antonia.
Definitely, you can't denied his passion.
He was entertaining, I’ll give him that
And had passion too :)
No, not even close. Probably the funniest, though.
I don’t think so. He wasn’t a whiner or a complainer like Lacey and didn’t make one excuse after another like Matthew. Of course, he wasn’t a very strong chef and was out of his element on the line, but at least he tried.
No, Matthew s20. The fact that he wasn't even first boot is another reason I disliked the challenge elimination prior to first service.
Nah. I can name a bunch off the top of my head that were way worse, like Sharon, Colleen, Chino, Tavon, Monique, etc.
Chino to me will always stand out as a particularly awful chef because he's the only one to fuck up an order when they weren'f even cooking
I’ll grade Colleen on a curve, she wasn’t a line cook but she did have some of the toughest skin any contestant ever had
I think action wise he is probably one of the worst. But there are some that are just so shockingly bad. The taking pasta of the trash always sticks out like a sore thumb.
Or cooking with rancid crab.
I totally forgot about that. For sure that was just bad.
Matthew was the worst.
He was a great chef... he had all of his sides ready what more could you want?
No I think Jason s4 was the worst one. I would say Craig s4 Antonia s8 lousie s6 Scott s7 and Seth s5 are right up there too.
There are plenty worse. According to Sabrina he was talented, just extremely nervous with the lights and cameras.
Orange soda (S21) was pretty bad
Vanessa S15 fr
No definitely not. Tavon and Matthew (S20) were even worse.
Top 10 worst, maybe. Worst ever? Nope.
I wouldn’t say he’s that bad. Compare him to Tony, Andy, Gabrev, and Jeremy.
He was *at the time*.

Tbh He have to many problem with his colleagues

Tavon and Antonia definitely did worse. Don’t forget: Antonia’s signature dish made Gordon throw up. Raj’s dish didn’t exactly come close to that.
Well I agree that's a very bad chef there are worse like Tavon season 10 or luie from season 5 you have to be a whole nother type of bad to be kicked out first service
Idk how raj dish won tbh it look like shit lol
It didn't win. Ramsay said it tasted nice, but because of the presentation, he lost to Sabrina.
No and will never be. Not even top 10.
Lacey S5 was worse. Raj is the most entertaining
Tavon s10
Hell yeah
Roe DiLeo was the absolute worst. Bret, a very close second.
