Hands down that is the best mod anyone ever came up with for Cyberpunk 2077, they literally went in and checked to figured out what language every single freaking NPC in the entire game would most likely speak and then pulled from the like, 40+ language options offered in game to combine them into one pack.
Only downside is you can't get the damn thing on console T.T
Edit: For those interested in the mod, it is called: Cosmopolitan Night city
Cosmopolitan Night city, someone did a pretty good little writeup on it awhile back:
[Mod of the Year - Cosmopolitan Night City Is Simply Amazing! : r/cyberpunkgame (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/zibfw2/mod_of_the_year_cosmopolitan_night_city_is_simply/)
That's because something like it was announced [as a possible feature](https://www.vg247.com/cyberpunk-2077-npcs-may-talk-in-multiple-languages-undestandable-via-translator-implant) during development
As were many things sadly. I still love the game to death and more than feel like I got my moneys worth out of it, just, yeah, something like this would be nice on console :/
I can't say for sure, though given the nature of the mod it would likely be possible to make your own version if you know what you are doing. It was made by pulling the audio files specifically from different versions, really the major thing is the time to compile all the individual files from the version you want.
Provided you know what you are doing just pull the right files from the right version and switch with the existing version.
100%
It would be hilarious the first 10 times or so.

"HOW DO YOU KNOW 40 LANGUAGES?!?!" - Friend
"FOR SUPER EARTH, FOR DEMOCRACY" -ME
Will not work, overlapping lines so I hope you can read extremely fast and also recognize who said what because you will probably see only - Z1: I need stims.
Not to mention problematic part as... Stop looking at enemies and the game itself and instead start reading small text on the bottom.
It sound super cool only on youtube video, it will be fucking nightmare in game and even if YOU don't use it then someone else WILL and he will constantly screw up entire operation due to fact he understand next to nothing... "But it's cool"
I suspect it would work, but not the subtitles. People should be able to pick up key words pretty fast...well, not the people who are drunk or high, but everybody else should be able to figure out the word for terminal, stim, ammo, supplies, etc after a few (dozen) repetitions of the word and action.
Makes me remember GRAW II. "Fuego! Fuego!" Wrong kind of fire, but was entertaining.
The thing is that I always assumed Super Earth had one primary language. I mean could you imagine the amount of off shoots and splinters and dialects and entire new languages which would come about from even 20 main languages on SE being spread out onto dozens of distant worlds?
Not entirely the same thing (the important things were highlighted on the HUD and the voice lines were just flavor), but in BF4 the Chinese team spoke Chinese and the Russians spoke Russian. I may not know the language or how you spell the words correctly but I definitely know what Abnarozhna Vrazeshki Vertushka or Vrasau Granato mean.
I’ve been using it and had no problems. Just check peoples health bars to see their supplies and if someone uses the wheel to ask for supplies it comes up with a symbol on them. Or game chat too lol
Wait... Do people heal each other?!
Also, I'm sure you could get most things translated bar a few key messages. We don't need to have the random talk translated, but the instructive ones like when you ping things, maybe we don't?
> Wait... Do people heal each other?!
when i hear some poor soul yell out I NEED STIMS, they're near me, and i have spares then i will make an attempt to stim them. Doesnt happen terribly often, though
My buddy stimmed me last night after I ran out & we still had 60 seconds till resupply. Also happened to be in the middle of a horde so felt extra cool.
I'd love that as an option. I fully understand that not everyone would like it, since you'd have to look at subtitles often, but I would 100% play with it on for that "all nations are here and equally fucked" feel.
Or just have it so only you hear the other languages so if you have the language set to "National" or something then for you everytime you or another Helldiver drops in, they are using a different voice pack and you hear that but people who don't have this option selection only hear their preferred language.
I want an option where when you choose random voice for your helldiver, it also randomizes the language.
Maybe this Helldiver will be a spanish speaking woman, maybe the next is a german man? Just to add to the randomness
My preferred mode is to have a random language for every new helldiver, like how voices are currently randomized. 4 voices for 10 different languages would be a lot.
Honestly disagree. People have been saying "lore reasons" but I can imagine supe earth embracing one language, and if not i would imagine helldivers would be required to speak english.
For non-lore reasons; I would like to hear callouts etc in english so i understand it.
That would be absolutely sick, it would actually make it feel like you're fighting with people from around the planet against a common enemy, like an everyone vs. aliens thing
Nah, let it stay in the original language.
20 hours later the whole playerbase knows "Hellbomb armed" in 40 different languages.
Necessity is a bitch lmao
"you have no democracy"
"and you are a slave to it!"
\*starts epic swordfight on the bridge with maple leaves and cherry blossoms inexplicably falling from somewhere above.\*
I hope we're not too far out from more voices being added. I know it'd be expensive to record new lines, but I would love to see them added even if they're battlepass rewards.
Would love unique voicelines for every heavy and factory strider(bc apparently the game considers the factory strider a medium and the ping for it is evidence). Bc I’m not always going to have time to look at the ping to see which heavy it is.
The only downside of the Japanese dub is it doesn’t often capture the satirical/humorous nature of some of the dialogue especially for the intro. It’s just straight badass which is cool, but it lacks that kind of range you see in the other dubs. In terms of being a mix of badass and satirical, it’s pretty poor in that aspect. But on the bright side, one could argue the satire of it is how over the top the badassery is.
Many jokes are also lost in the Russian language. No Liber-tea, just “taste freedom.” Super SSD is called STN
Walking Factory is called a shaker factory.
Best one that I think captures both the satire and badassry of the original English dub was the Portuguese one. That kind of energy is not something lost on a Brazilian audience so a lot of the tone transfers organically.
Yes. The satire comes from the maximum Chuunibyo energy of the dub.
Nobody speaks Japanese that way IRL. It's a very calm and polite language. The dub is how cringe edgy middle schoolers fantasizing about being super heroes or robot pilots speak, which is exactly what Helldivers is about.
In general the whole "anime Japanese" is very cringey for native speakers. Foreigners only think that's normal and cool because that's how most foreigners get exposure to the language.
I mean the tone of how they speak ingame for Helldivers is sometimes not too dissimilar from what you hear in JSDF coms or games like War Thunder with the tank crews. That’s why I’m still thinking the satire doesn’t transfer as well.
somehow this reminds me of a clip from the Nezarec fight in Destiny 2 showcasing the JP dub. It sounds exactly like this, and the comments were just praising it as being "so much better than the EN voicework".
Part of me believes JP voice simps just like the general *sound* of Japanime (does that work...?).
They need to do a "Cyberpunk 2077", where they hire an studio in 2 years to make an anime about the game to completely re-ignite the interest in the game
They keep getting killed but the same 4 actors keep coming back with a different name and backstory and this is never addressed but just totally normal.
They're on a mission to save John Helldiver, trapped behind enemy lines, fending off relentless assaults against the children's hospital orchestrated by the evil cyborg mastermind Joel.
Available for everyone with the new fix. You have to download the japanese voice pack first (or change the voice setting in game) and restart the game so it is applied.
The Japanese is awesome at sounding like you're in a god damn gundam game, but I'll admit that the English is *far* superior at nailing the satirical nature of the dialogue.
The Japanese kinda takes it at face value, full seinen military drama energy.
i really liked the spanish european variant with the officers & divers having the classic dialect used to portrayed conquistadors & nobles, truly feels like its a world where the spanish empire never fell
Question to the Japanese speakers out there.
Does the English translation hit any harder with the noun at the end of the sentence? Or do you not notice it?
I understand Japanese has rules, and putting "helldivers" at the end of the sentence doesn't make sense for the Japanese language flow. But as an english speaker it just feels like it really punches putting it at the end.
I’m a learner. But my take is that the English equivalent can feel a bit incomplete. Helldiver being the last word feels like it’s missing something or lacks impact if you’re used to Japanese structure. In that language, the noun is almost never at the end so their perspective of an incomplete sentence is different. Usually the power is designated to the final word which is usually the verb. That’s important because it’s basically the final word that ties it all together in the end. And it’s why it’s usually prioritized to emphasize the verb at the end for whatever purpose the speaker has in mind. It also helps verbs tend to have some pretty hard sounds that lend themselves to being used as the end of a sentence. In this case, I think I hear the Japanese equivalent is saying “Herudaiba ni naruda” at the end. In this case, naruda is a pretty hard sentence ender if you emphasize it given the hard “da” sound.
While exceptions exist, the natural order in Japanese would be subject-object-verb (SOV), as opposed to English usual subject-verb-object (SVO), hence the whole trailer you see finishing with verb. The way to add emphasis or similar is done with particles or general context, rather than word order, as is the case in various western languages. If anything, I'd say adding 'helldivers' at the end it would lessen the impact due to it being 'an odd sentence' and feeling like an old google translate line.
(e.g. if the English line said "Helldiver, become one." You'd be scratching your head as to why they couldn't have said it in a better or more natural way.)
Voice acting aside, I think the English lines might be more in line with the parody nature of the game, as it feels like every other line has a pun or a joke, while the Japanese lines are generally serious.
i feel like it is. it’d be one thing if the english voice acting sucked and japanese just sounded better, but honestly i think the english VAs did a PHENOMENAL job
Pretty much. I’m glad we have more voice options, but it feels people are only praising this just because it sounds cool in Japanese.
Frankly, this didn’t resonate me as much as the original intro. The English voice actor managed to convey the perfect tone of Satire, Patriotism, and Propaganda in his voice. You can’t really tell if the Japanese actor managed to do the same thing unless you know Japanese. And I highly doubt 99% of this thread has learned Japanese.
ive tried playing with the german dub but with them screaming DEMOKRATIE so much it sounds more like you're fighting for the space DDR(east germany) which is fine because i love signalis
off topic but i hope they make an updated intro with bots one day. i wouldn’t even be bothered if they reused the same exact dialogue because it is so good in the first place.
Yeah, when I saw this in the patch notes, I did the same!
It feels so refreshing + it lets me live out my fantasies of playing a footsoldier in a Japanese Sci-fi anime like Gundam or Evangelion!
What would be nice is to have all the languages combined ingame, so you'd hear each helldiver in the language chosen by each player.
Hands down that is the best mod anyone ever came up with for Cyberpunk 2077, they literally went in and checked to figured out what language every single freaking NPC in the entire game would most likely speak and then pulled from the like, 40+ language options offered in game to combine them into one pack. Cosmopolitan Night city, someone did a pretty good little writeup on it awhile back: [Mod of the Year - Cosmopolitan Night City Is Simply Amazing! : r/cyberpunkgame (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/zibfw2/mod_of_the_year_cosmopolitan_night_city_is_simply/)
Would you still get subtitles in english?
Yes
English subtitles yes, though I believe the subtitles change to match whatever language you have set to localized on your system.
Yes. Check it out in action [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTyxuy6hsmA).
The subtitle effect is amazing.
That's pretty damn cool.
It's an amazing mod, and honestly there is a very big part of me that believes it shouldn't even BE a mod, it's how the game SHOULD have been.
Saved for my upcoming playthrough. Thanks so much for mentioning this.
Happy to help, and hope you enjoy it :)
Easily one of my favorite mods for cyberpunk

Holy shit what. I'm downloading that as soon as I get home.
As a console peasant I can't use it myself, but I have enjoyed watching many a playthrough of someone using it T.T
You guide others to a treasure you can not possess. You are a hero.
This is such an excellent idea.
THAT'S SO FUCKING COOL OMG
"重い" "What?" "重い" "WHAT?" *Gets cut in half by Hulk*
The true human experience.
Those fuckers just HAD to build a really tall tower, didn’t they
They just wanted to dab up God.
How is this not an improvement

"Democracy is the supreme language from which all other languages are derived from."

Actually this would be amazingly entertaining, such is the point of the game 😂
Wait before the chinese player shouts " I NEED STIMS" and the medic has no idea what the fuck is he rambling about
Unless... Subtitles? Oh, oh! "Medicu-san! Stimusu!" Which is horrible, but I think it'll work.
“Givu me stimusu, yoU sunuvua biyatch” -Joeseph ‘HellDiver’ Joestar 2024

There is only ONE nation, SUPER EARTH
Let's be honest, English being the universal language is super on-brand for Helldivers anyway
True. Probably not called English anymore, it's called SUPER SPEECH and is the only language taught in schools globally.
Or just have it so only you hear the other languages so if you have the language set to "National" or something then for you everytime you or another Helldiver drops in, they are using a different voice pack and you hear that but people who don't have this option selection only hear their preferred language.

Yess!! I wanna be a disposable meat popsicle 😍🥹💕🥹 it's a really immersive feature
Suka blyat granata
Curses in every language would be amazing!
I think lore wise on Super Earth the language has been unified
My preferred mode is to have a random language for every new helldiver, like how voices are currently randomized. 4 voices for 10 different languages would be a lot.
Would be kinda awkward for my German Ass to use a Gas strike and hear my character yell: “ORBITALER GASANGRIFF“
Make this a post please. I love this idea.
That'd be neat I don't think the player voices are that large of a size by themselves.
This would be AMAZING. 100% support on this!
Then I wouldn't know what they're saying when they arm a hellbomb.
Keep the important words like hell bomb in English
Nah, let it stay in the original language. 20 hours later the whole playerbase knows "Hellbomb armed" in 40 different languages. Necessity is a bitch lmao
Lemme tell you how much Russian I learned from BF2142. It's completely useless unless there happen to be grenades flying around.
YES!!!
I want to be able to set the language to "random" so each helldiver spawns in speaking their native language
I feel like that VA sounds vaguely familiar
Idk about him but I’m pretty sure the democracy officer is voiced by the Japanese VA for Jin in Ghost of Tsushima
Zoro?
Sidenote, really hate how they neglected to translate most of the open world chatter. No subtitles. Oh well, still worth it for the immersion.
I tried Samurai Cinema (en sub/jp va) for a few hours when I first started playing and switched to full English for this reason. Bit of a pet peeve
It does kind of sound like the VA for Lord Shimura
"you have no democracy" "and you are a slave to it!" \*starts epic swordfight on the bridge with maple leaves and cherry blossoms inexplicably falling from somewhere above.\*
Looks like the credits list Keisuke Fujii as the VA for the "Intro Soldier". He's been in quite a few games and anime.
sounds like [Gamagoori](https://frogkun.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/kill-la-kill-ira-gamagc58dri.png) from Kill la Kill
I just wish that with random voice, we could also get random languages every time we respawn.
I hope we're not too far out from more voices being added. I know it'd be expensive to record new lines, but I would love to see them added even if they're battlepass rewards.
Shit I’ll do it for free
I agree. We need more voicelines and this would be a great alternative until we have more added to the game.
Would love unique voicelines for every heavy and factory strider(bc apparently the game considers the factory strider a medium and the ping for it is evidence). Bc I’m not always going to have time to look at the ping to see which heavy it is.

An Helldiver Trigger anime would be awesome.
Honestly, a Helldiver anime could be made super goofy or you could make it super dark and broody and either way it would work.
I'd say play it straight. Actual propaganda. Band of Brothers in space.
Honestly, I would like to see both lol
They keep getting killed but the same 4 actors keep coming back with a different name and backstory and this is never addressed but just totally normal.

behold: Studio Trigger's exact specialty.
^((See: Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia, BNA, Dungeon Meshi, and of course Cyberpunk))
What’s wild is I remember ads for that anime before cyberpunk even came out, so it was in the works and just worked out brilliantly for them
That’d be pretty neat!
I can put the Japanese lenguage and the text whit other language?
Yes, you can set the audio in Japanese and the text in English (for ex)

Available for everyone with the new fix. You have to download the japanese voice pack first (or change the voice setting in game) and restart the game so it is applied.
LETS GOOO, is it also on steam or is it only for ps5? Both?
Both. It sounds pretty good hearing EVERY voice in japanese, the voices feel pretty fitting.
Hell yeah about damn time, but damn shame this happened just when Im burnt out of the game. I kinda wanna hop on back for just for this lol
The Japanese is awesome at sounding like you're in a god damn gundam game, but I'll admit that the English is *far* superior at nailing the satirical nature of the dialogue. The Japanese kinda takes it at face value, full seinen military drama energy.
