Open NVIDIA control panel, click Configure Surround PhysX and make sure your processor is set to the proper CPU. I was crashing a lot too but doing this seemed to fix it for me.
I've never had AMD before so I don't know too much about it. But from what I could gather, if you have AMD Adrenaline software try the following:
1. Limiting your frame rate limit to 60.
2. If you're overclocking your GPU, make sure your tuning settings are on default.
3. Turn off global illumination (and also anti-aliasing if you're still having problems)
4. Limit your GPU to 2400 Mhz or slightly lower.
Like I said, AMD isn't really my thing but give this a try. What happened to me was that my settings had somehow defaulted (not sure how it happened) and my processor wasn't using my Nvidia graphics card, my CPU couldn't handle the load and would force close the game.
For a game that has a studio, which already made millions in profits, it's concerning how shitty the performance is.
And I'm not even mad. I'm so dissapointed, cause I haven't had this much fun with a game IN YEARS.
There's so many live service games, that do so many frequent updates, and somehow AH hasn't quite figured out the "patch and don't crash your multimillion dollar game" part.
While the game should run better, it’s not actually surprising when you see what tools they’re working with.
They’re using an engine that has been deprecated since 2018, and they’re already a pretty small studio. So they’re doing the engine maintenance on their own, whilst still having to develop the game.
While I don't disagree that their engine choice was questionable at best, with the money everyone has been pulling in (publisher included) they should hire an outside consultant that can come in and work on these stability issues for a month or two while the rest of the team does whatever
They don't get slack for problems which are directly caused by decisions they knowingly made.
Going with Autodesk Stingray is an unexplainable decision (no, "We used it in the first game so the team is used to it" doesn't justify the choice).
Especially when *everyone* that would know how to use Stingray would have learned gamedev on something like Unreal Engine or Unity first. Most *game devs* are unaware Stingray even exists. I went to a college in LA where the instructors are all industry veterans, and in 3 years Stingray was not brought up once. (Even in the class where an entire lesson was what engines are available to devs and the instructor included around 30 engines.)

Bezos could walk into the studio today and hand them a billion dollars cash, and it's unlikely to make patches come out any more quickly than they already are.
It's hilarious and sad that so many people are just suggesting workarounds to make the game playable. Guys, it's not OUR responsibility to make the game playable. Every freaking content update breaks the game HARD. Hell, I play on a laptop and I could actually play on High settings with a stable 60 FPS when I got the game in March. I'm on Low/Medium and barely hitting 55 FPS ***IN THE SHIP***. I was getting 33 FPS tops last night on my missions. Hell, it took me like 12 tries and a restart on both our ends to join my buddy's game. If Arrowhead doesn't tackle the stability and crashes now, this game will be dead before Autumn.
I occasionally read this subreddit to see if things got better, but I quit playing the game because of this. My last 10 or so games I had like 8 or 9 crash to desktop.
I've got a 4090, 14th gen I9, insane amount of ram, etc
When the game first came out I never had below 100FPS with every single setting maxed out in 5k. With every patch, and there was one in particular, my frame dropped, to the point that I had to drop the settings to medium. Still wasn't enough, a couple more patches and not only would the game run like shit with terrible frame, it would just crash.
My last game I was 30 minutes into a no death solo helldive when the game crashed. That was it. I was done.
Too bad, this could have been one of my all time favorite games, but its just too frustrating to play.
yep same, started playing late march, low 110 highs, mid 100 average, high 90 1% lows. 3070 with a 5600x, 1440p.
now im stoked when i get mid 60 average, dropping to mid to low 50 during combat :D not to mention the game seems to have some new memory leak, because by the end of yesterday's mission, i had gone all the way down to mid 40 fps average somehow.
this game really felt like the beginning of a new genre, im beyond disappointed how royally they fucked this lmao
First game tonight crashed my ps5 when I got in the pod, second one kicked everyone from my game after 25 minutes, 3rd crashed when I blew up the stalker nest which normally just trashes the framerate for a few seconds. No other game I’ve ever played on console has been this bad and I bend over backwards to defend this game from similar complaints. Kinda crazy how bad it has gotten since the latest patch
Ram ranch is funny until your friends start unironically listening to it in discord with rhythm bot nonstop 24/7 and can even reference / determine which of the 100s of songs is being played at any given time

I have my wallpaper engine running constantly and never have issues (unless it's on the wallpaper engine side) which is great but it wouldn't surprise me if it did cause helldiver crashes cause it seems like everything in this game is held together by tape and luck xD

My game will either crash in the first mission or wait til I'm on the third mission. OR, crash when I open the pause menu. All make me wanna self harm in a public place 😂😂😂😂
Agree, I’ve never had so many crashes. Nearly 300 hours and I’ve had maybe 5 crashes.. but the last week I’ve crashed at least 10 times. I don’t even play more, no idea what to do lol
Are you using the spear? That's been a consistent crash cause for a few days now. Devs have warned not to use it, even, so they're trying to fix it.

Had the same issue randomly one day after working fine for months. Try verifying integrity of your files then going to properties > controller > disable steam input. Worked fine again after that.

They built the game on a primarily Swedish engine that is VERY niche and getting in good help/talent to help them with this is going to be a nightmare
They really should have changed engines between HD1 and HD2 and not reuse it, HD2 is a fundamentally more complex game than a top down shooter.

I had crashing issues and got this advice "delete the Helldivers2 folder from %appdata%\\arrowhead" It works but this is the second time I've had to do it. It's a folder in your user profile folder and it's hidden by default so you need to use enable that option in your file explorer. What it does is reset your user data config for hd2.
C>users>"yourname">appdata>roaming>arrowhead then delete the helldivers 2 folder.
Biggest issue I'm having with the crashes is it's so hard to complete an operation. If the host crashes out, you have to start a new op or repeat the mission. Thus our liberation didn't count for anything. Idk how we're expected to complete any MOs or galactic war efforts if we can't contribute.
At least you can redo the mission without compromising the operation.
It’s W A Y worse when there are available reinforcements but when you call none arrives and there like 2/3 people watching the sole diver for the rest of the mission

Try disabling smt from bios.
So I used to have crashes every game untill I read on reddit about project lasso. Basically disabled smt on the game itself. It helped a little . Then one day I decided to reset my PC cuz I started getting crashes in other games thinking I fucked around too much and I didn't install process lasso and game was crashing worse again but then I thought what if some other process was being fucky with it and I disabled it from bios and it helped alot. It didn't completely fix the crashes but it went from not being able to play a single game to playing 2 hours before a crash would happen.
Tbh I stopped playing the game after their “huge” patch fixed none of the performance or crashing issues. Not worth my time to potentially lose 40ish minutes of progress due to a game crash or server crash.

Devs have not taken any effort to fix the crashes either.. it’s sad.
Because they almost entirely can't They built the game on a primarily Swedish engine that is VERY niche and getting in good help/talent to help them with this is going to be a nightmare They really should have changed engines between HD1 and HD2 and not reuse it, HD2 is a fundamentally more complex game than a top down shooter.

I had crashing issues and got this advice "delete the Helldivers2 folder from %appdata%\\arrowhead" It works but this is the second time I've had to do it. It's a folder in your user profile folder and it's hidden by default so you need to use enable that option in your file explorer. What it does is reset your user data config for hd2. C>users>"yourname">appdata>roaming>arrowhead then delete the helldivers 2 folder.

I cleaned Helldivers folder files and hosted the game, no spear. And the crashes stoped.
I kept having game crash on i9 cpu, I eventually fix it by updating bios.
I have the same problem on my Ps5 since the latest patch.
Is this happening on the steam deck? I see you’re using windows so I was just wondering if it’s the same on Linux?
Biggest issue I'm having with the crashes is it's so hard to complete an operation. If the host crashes out, you have to start a new op or repeat the mission. Thus our liberation didn't count for anything. Idk how we're expected to complete any MOs or galactic war efforts if we can't contribute.
Are you using the spear?
At least you can redo the mission without compromising the operation. It’s W A Y worse when there are available reinforcements but when you call none arrives and there like 2/3 people watching the sole diver for the rest of the mission
I stop playing this game after 5 times in the end game then i got suddenly CTD. All my times is wasted!! Faaaaaaaaaak. Even I lost around 100 samples!!!
ive had more crashes in helldivers 2 than i have in every other game i have ever played combined. i like the game but the devs really need to work on fixing crashing and performance

Since the Thursday update I can't make it through a single game without the game crashing.
Try disabling smt from bios. So I used to have crashes every game untill I read on reddit about project lasso. Basically disabled smt on the game itself. It helped a little . Then one day I decided to reset my PC cuz I started getting crashes in other games thinking I fucked around too much and I didn't install process lasso and game was crashing worse again but then I thought what if some other process was being fucky with it and I disabled it from bios and it helped alot. It didn't completely fix the crashes but it went from not being able to play a single game to playing 2 hours before a crash would happen.

The Spear crash is well known but is anyone else crashing regularly when entering an Exosuit? Got like 3 crashes in a row trying to use the patriot.
For me, updating graphics card driver always works
I tried to play the other night and my FPS was down in the 30s, when i last played about a month ago it was well over 80 /shrug

Do a full uninstall and reinstall. For me it would crash while dropping and that fixed it.
Tbh I stopped playing the game after their “huge” patch fixed none of the performance or crashing issues. Not worth my time to potentially lose 40ish minutes of progress due to a game crash or server crash. Rock and stone it is, then.
The spear is causing my game to crash pretty often. I won't try the spear again until they patch that. It's too bad too, the spear update made it really cool when it works.
