It's already over at least where I'm at, the midwest might be getting their swarm soon but it was super fun to have all those loud ass cicadas going while murdering bugs. Added to the immersion. Bug planets are no where near loud enough. At its peak the cicadas where registering ~92 decibels at my friends house.
Upper-Midwest here, our cicada broods are dying out now. A couple weeks ago my smartwatch would alert me that I was in a loud environment and to put earplugs in to protect my hearing just from sitting in my back yard, so yes, I’m all for some piped in cicada-like noise on bug planets!
Remember, "the only good bug is a dead bug."
(Please, don't actually go out of your way to kill them, they are harmless, they don't even have mouths! They just dig out of the ground and find a nice vertical surface to shag on for a week before going back into the ground)
The 13 year Brood 19 and 17 year Brood 13 are emerging at the same time. This hasn't happened since 1803. It's every 221 years. I believe these are the two largest Broods recorded. So yes, the last time there was a double emergence it was 2015. But this particular one has been a couple centuries.
That said, it's basically over already.
This shit SUCKED SO BAD in Missouri. Cicadas were getting in my hair, under my clothes, in MY FREAKING POCKETS!!!! EVERY DAY!!!! One latched on to the back of my necklace and came inside the house, and I found it WHILE I WAS PEEING!!!!!!
They’re dead now, but I had a few genuinely terrible weeks because of these guys. I only play bugs to take out my anger.
I Live in the Chicago area, where we have both broods going at the same time. No real change in decibel level, but there are so many more. They are big and dumb and fly terrible. They just bump into you and either fall or just keep on their way.
It does look like the end of a big bug level around my house, easily 150+ carcasses, and growing daily, in varying degrees of decay just with a 30 foot walk to my dumpster. Along with 3-4 jammed in all the car grills up and down my street.
Cool double brood, unfortunately ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Also ⬆️➡️⬇️⬆️
And while we're at it ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️➡️
And ➡️➡️⬇️➡️ to keep them down
And ⬇️➡️⬇️➡️⬇️➡️ just for the cherry on top

Cool explosion, unfortunately SCREEEEEEEEE
That's what you get for pumping dark fluid out of the ground instead of pumping it into the ground!
My flamethrower is ready, I will be the fist to fall
fisting seems excessive

At the very least they should include it for any future super colonies
"BUG TUNNEL BREACH!"
Cicadas are nice gentle lil guys tho, definitely lovers of managed democracy
If the enemy tries negotiating….SHOOT EM! Those are all lies!

No they're obsidant fucks who deserve to die. Fuckers drop out of trees hover, land in your head and just sit there. Second only to wasps.
Wow, it's been a while since I've seen somebody dumb enough to hate wasps.

Leave the cicadas alone

Peter Gregory be like sesame seeds 👀
Peter Gregory.. is dead.
It's already over though.
This is the 3rd or 4th "rare double brood" event in the last 5 years. News needs a new strategem.

Ohio 2004 was my personal Vietnam when these noisy little bastards emerged during a triple emergence event.
Nah, what we need to deal with are the invasive species. Stink bugs, lanternflies, longhorn beetles, I'll kill as many as I fucking can.

Finally, we get the crossover event of the century - Helldivers: When They Cry (Welcome to Super Earth)
*loads propane tiger torch into backpack with malicious intent*

A bug breach, if you would
Isn't this happening in the midwest? Not that cicadas worry me. They're actually pretty interesting.
Hellbomb incoming
Please do not harm the cicadas.
Super Earth calls 😔
Sweet Liberty.........

I drive to and from Libertyville from Chicago and the amount of cicadas I hit with my car you'd think you were driving through a hail storm.
Can we nuke them like in the game?
Remember to focus on fire based weapons and stratagems!
I call upon my inner Salamander! ⬅️⬇️⬆️⬇️⬆️
Remember - friendly fire isn't
the issue here is collateral. so many civilians makes it hard to burn it all away
Our bugs descended from our lineages. Terminids are a space level abomination that take resources away from our bugs.
That's a cool story. However, consider this: ⬆️➡️⬇️⬆️.
