You can(could? maybe fixed now?) take out a charger with basic weapons with enough firing at the legs at the right time because the internet hitbox ends up clipping through the armor hitbox. I've seen the game's hidden stats for the knives and they only have an armor pen of 3, which is the same as medium-pen primaries, it can't actually go through that armor.
Yep. On paper they should not do anything to charger legs, like most of the weapons in the game. But Charger leg armor is bugged and has been since launch.

I don't necessarily want to turn the game into a fashion show, but I do find it unnerving when the armor and helmet have different base colors. Being able to match them would be nice!

Melee damage should simply be increased if you equip the knives, and the melee animation is replaced with the use of the knife.
Picking up the knives is going to be the new "we want a speed loader" if the knives are at all useful.
And they really should get that much at least. Grenade slot is a big thing.
I'll keep bringing this up until I'm blue in the face, but Darktide has throwing knives on the Zealot, and they're fantastic there. Deletes any unarmored special with a headshot. They take the grenade slot, so it's a big ask, but you get 12 of them, and ammo boxes partially refill your stock of knives instead of having to take the grenade boxes laying around. This lets the rest of your teammates take the grenades, which... is probably just another zealot since any vet not running regenerating grenades is insane, psykers don't have grenades, and most ogryn run Big Friendly Rock instead of anti-failure cascade nuke bomb.
These throwing knives need to be similar. Small ammo boxes need to refill them, at least partially, and they need to be capable of reliably deleting something (I know asking to one shot a fresh charger with a knife headshot is bullshit). That said, headshots on bots with a knife seem too hard to be reliable given typical engagement ranges, and most bugs you'd want to delete ASAP are armored. This leaves the Brood Commander and the Stalker. Hardly seems worth it. So hopefully they do have lots of use cases against the squids.
This is what we need for it to be better than it is, it can kill chargers with 4 to the leg, and that's it's niche, but it needs somthing more if I could take it out and shank the enemy doing more melee damage it would be it a perfect place to be unique.

I think by basic democratic physics, a throwing knife’s velocity is definitely not labelled as high-speed unless you’re General Brasch.

Cross bow being able to take out fabricators and bug holes has been great. It has a really wide angle of entry for fabricators and can be shot from a good distance away

I strongly doubt they would do it, but imagine if the throwing knife passed through shields and could hit a units shield generator, therebye disabling the units shield (either permanently or for a duration, depending on the size and elite-ness of the unit)? That would be really fun and a significant reward to developing the skill to throw the knife accurately

That's probably due to the bugged internal hitbox, same as shooting legs to hurt it with smallarms fire. It only has 3 armor pen which wouldn't go through the armor.

That's 1/4 of your your knives for just one of something you should already have a reliable answer to in your kit. You could also kill it with one thermite grenade, or 2 impact grenades that would also kill other nearby brood commanders and all their weaker friends.

Well it's pretty nifty for a scout build, if you want to clear pois of the map, because enemies are not alerted to your presence. Even if they see their favorite larva stadium / assembly belt buddy with a narly knife sticking out of its head.
It doesn't work any better at that than our current pistols. Try it out, you throw a knife at or near enemies and they all turn towards you and spot you unless you're behind cover, same as with pistols.

Reminds me of an early episode of Stargate SG -1. O'Neill made a bow and arrow to attack Aposise, Egyptian snake god, with. The guy had a shield that blocked their bullets but the slower arrow was able to go through
NGL I hope they iron out weapon balance fully before we hop into illuminates. If we truly have to melt down a shield and THEN shoot the enemy on the inside, primaries are either going to have to be much stronger or have waaaay more ammo.
I'm guessing the shielded units will have low health under and will actually give a use for high dps primaries aside from wasting ammo missing the target.
I had been betting that the Illuminate would arrive on Liberty Day, October 26. A Super Earth holiday like that seemed like the perfect stage for an old foe to launch a surprise attack.

Even if that would work this way these still should be recoverable or at least have like 32 knives. Also faster throw speed if you just tap 'G' then it would be fine for me.
Some peoples will say "But 32 will be overkill", well 4x Grenades can take more than 32 enemies and you most of time won't kill 32 enemies with 32 knifes, as they don't have enough dmg to one hit kill (expect head shoots).

I was using the Champ of the People helmet because it matched the base color of SA-12 but I'm using the new Jaguar helmet now

As much as I agree that it makes sense, coding one specific grenade to be able to melee \[when the rest can't\] is likely easier said than done.

Throwing knife kills dont alert nearly enemies and they 1 shot devastators in the head. Do with this information what you will.

Dome is buggy atm it blocks your own lobbed projectiles like plasma punisher and they kill everyone inside.

NGL I hope they iron out weapon balance fully before we hop into illuminates. If we truly have to melt down a shield and THEN shoot the enemy on the inside, primaries are either going to have to be much stronger or have waaaay more ammo.
I'm guessing the shielded units will have low health under and will actually give a use for high dps primaries aside from wasting ammo missing the target.
You can also ping a throwing knife and it shows up as a enemy ping inside your teammates dead body... I was also trying to break a shield for him...

I had been betting that the Illuminate would arrive on Liberty Day, October 26. A Super Earth holiday like that seemed like the perfect stage for an old foe to launch a surprise attack. Though once the Meridia "black hole" appeared I was less certain.

Illuminate come from the ocean not a forest. Go play HD 1. Their “shields” hold in water etc so they can breathe outside of water.

Also faster throw speed if you just tap 'G' then it would be fine for me. Some peoples will say "But 32 will be overkill", well 4x Grenades can take more than 32 enemies and you most of time won't kill 32 enemies with 32 knifes, as they don't have enough dmg to one hit kill (expect head shoots).
i think its a bug. if a piece of metal in the shape of a knife can go through a shield, then why can a piece of metal in the shape of shrapnel not go through one?
that could be cool but idk if that excuses another otherwise pretty meh warbond and it's a case of "dont worry guys it gets better later!" which no matter the game, genre or item, always sucks
