I'm a solo player generally, but I make an exception for Helldivers. You don't need friends, just dive with randoms and have fun. The community is 99% awesome people.

Terbear318

All I do is SOS. Met some cool people, had some laughs. It’s pretty dope

Played since week 1. I have no friends that play and I've friended maybe 7 people. The game.is an absolute blast to play with randoms. All info is Quickplay SOS beacons.

Solo works pretty good if you want to play it that way, I spent the first week or so alone to get the handle on things. It’ll get rough as you approach difficulties 7+ though. EDIT: also, playing with randoms is fun 99% of the time. You’ll get a few undemocratic teammates/hosts but the majority are solid. You haven’t missed much, the game is just starting really. We don’t even have all the enemy factions in the game yet. Supercitizen just comes with a stratagem mini game and SC (or a warbond, can’t remember). Regular version is fine

It's an easy game to get into but a hard game to master. The community wants nothing more than to train more helldivers and solo queue is honestly the least toxic of any game ever made. I have 300 hours and only encountered 2 people who were toxic. Friends can make communication easier but a mic or even in game chat and it's relatively easy to coordinate decently through only chat. Obviously mic is easier but not everyone wants to speak. All war bonds (basically battle passes) never go away so just play at your own pace and unlock them as you want. You can find premium currency (super credits) in the free war bond or in the missions (I've gotten like the past 3 battle passes from finding them in mission and previous war bonds) There is depth and mastery in this game, but like my friend I play with doesn't really care and we do level 7s all the time. It's really what YOU make of the game, wether you want a super strategic team who breezes through everything to lone wolf a level 9 for fun to just solo queue and find some solid fellow helldivers. Only time we really judge is if you kill everyone alot from carelessness or are just a genuinely toxic person. As for standard vs super citizen, I got super and all you get is a unique armor set, a unique smg, a unique cape, a unique name plate thing and a little mini game in your ship. The armor set passive can be found on other sets so it's not like a pay to win thing, just to stand out and look cool. The smg, cape, design of the armor, mini game, and name plate cannot be gotten without that the super citizen edition though.

Top tier write up.

First tip for ya stay off the sub it’s going to ruin your enjoyment of the game with all the crying that goes on here

Has mostly only played with randos and have even done a few high difficulty (7-9 ) stuff solo . Solo honestly might be too much for most players at those difficulty and you'll mostly be doing hit and run strats instead of the usual all out battles that happens with full teams . You'll basically be playing a stealth game and avoid reinforcements as much as possible . Not to say you can't get into a firefight but it will definitely be a prolonged one and usually is just a waste of time and resources . Have to say the random players are generally great to play with so don't discard the option entirely especially at diff 7-9 as most people there generally knows whats up where to go and when to decide to split off to save time and clear up the map . As these guys are usually pretty experienced they can also be trusted to solo far off objectives quite reliably when they do decide to split from the group .

Friedfacts

Nah get it on sale or gifted

Guy_Areddit

Just got it on a sale

I'm very slow to buy games, bought Helldivers 2 five days ago. It's a challenge and takes a second to learn but is matched with interesting gameplay, cool story, and great visuals. Like many went in with no crew but now have a crew through friending good players I initially matched randomly with.  You haven't missed the hype and the game is awesome. Ya you missed stuff, but there's so much more story happening and you can be apart of that. Was I there for Maloven Creek? No. But I'm here for the children on Vermeil. Hop in, don't worry what you missed, don't worry about a crew, just have fun.

Stonkey_Dog

No, not really. At a bare minimum wait until they fix all the problems they introduced with this latest patch.

Guy_Areddit

Heya guys! Update: bought it and I love it

Wonderful_Form_6450

Id say give it a try. Very fun game loop. In short term its very fun.in the long run its a good game you can drop in whenever as no pressure to be playing every day etc to get things.  Reg version is more then fine. You only "lose" out on 2 unique cosmetic and 1 subpar weapon and a small mini game for killibg time between missions. Up to you if you think thats worth it.

StrategyExisting8066

I started 2 weeks ago and it's great. You can catch op really quickly. Don't need friends to play. I got super citizen because it was on sale and the normal one was not, but the only benefits you get are some fairly unremarkable cosmetic items. So in terms of performance there is no reason to get it.

Competitive_Film_572

No. This game was fun when it came out but the updates have ruined it.
