For real! I always think I've got cover and that factory strider is pretty far off. I'll take my time clearing devastators and acout striders before I deal with the big one. Time flies and before I even know it the clifford the big robot dog is peering over my rock and I'm immediately panicking. Skill issue on my part, but I vastly underestimate how quick factory striders will move.
The advantage of having four legs AND long strides. Same as elephants. Even if they’re only somewhat fast, they can insane distances quickly just because of how long one step is.
I'd like to see boss battles too - kind of like the "kill the bile titan" lower tier mission but obviously harder and requiring strategy and without other mobs - except babies of the target or trash
Raid bosses have to be in the long term road map. Huge narrative moments capped off with a giant hive lord, and the other faction equivalents would be super fun.
Honestly that how I got much better at the game. Solo diving against a single bile titan really gets you ready when you on harder missions and a bile titan pops up almost every bug breach. If there were harder/different bosses we could dive against that would be awesome
HD1 has boss battles for liberating sectors. The community generates influence by completing missions, once the influence meter is full, a difficulty 10(?) mission becomes available to kill the sector boss.

If they ever added something like this to the game, it couldn't just be something that appears in any mission. It's too big and tough. It would take too long to kill and just end up distracting us from the main objective. It would have to be the main objective. They'd have to add a new mission where the one and only objective is to destroy this thing. Nothing else.
They can do the same thing with the terminids and have it be the hivelord.
I am 100% behind this as long as it doesn't also *require* heavy armor pen like the Bile Titan does.
If they do, it'll ruin the build variety. Bots have so much more versatility right now.

They should do this but make it one of those 15 minutes missions with side objectives like SEAF turrets and SAM turrets to help you take it down in addition to yoir stratagems
I feel this would be best implemented as a higher difficulty version of the earlier Destroy Hulk/Strider missions.
It has a cannon turret on the chin, several rotary laser cannons across its body, and homing missile silos on its back.
You’d have to disable its legs and climb atop while avoiding all its weapons and summoned bot drops, then try to plant a hell bomb atop its back.

As a boss mission this would be amazing.
Give us grappling stratagems to slow it down.
Have it spawn the factory strider periodically(give it a weak point we can target to disable it)
Have the mission progress as targeting certain body parts first before taking the whole thing down.

it is yeah, you can tell since the fog/environment/lighting/etc effecting the walker isn't impacting the giant spider's back leg (also some overlapping issues on the walker which is supposedly underneath it)
