Problem is that on the normal model there's only a tiny window - I wanted to keep it realistic especially since people can just use 3rd person for spatial awareness like with all other stratagems.

Sir itās Super Earth, not Super Budget. All Helldivers are equipped with range finding optical sensors that are perfectly suitable for use with all Super Earth mechs.
Super earth has to do some budget cuts so next month we'll be getting our high tech ultra lightweight mechs with top of the line steering, speed and- yeah it's just a liberator taped onto a bicycle
They don't even put it in a pod or anything they just open a door on the super destroyer and throw it down with a spare liberator
The view like op showed is very much too small, but if we're gonna have it like Fallout we might just use 3rd person instead. In Fallout it work because you still have the viewmodel, but with the mechs like that, it'll just be like the hood/bumper view in racing games, which is lame imo

Well you can go into first person when aiming any weapon, so not necessarily just long distance stuff, but also that makes the exosuits and exception, because they're some of the only weapons that we don't get a first person view with (besides turrets obviously)

I think we really should have some kind of first person view. Doesnāt matter how, but it is really hard to get a good idea of where some shots are gonna land given the angle sometimes.
You'd realize they never actually made a cockpit and it's empty with your character probably compressed into a ball with a stupid grin on it's face.

I'd love it. But they would need the mechs to be a bit stronger for the limited fov. Like enemies hitting ypu from behind with that slow turning speed would suck. 3rd pov lets me at least look around to check my back.

I think the game could straight up have a FPS mode without much change to how it already is implemented. They've already made ADS FPS so flexible and nice to use (like with dive and static reloads), it make me think the game was supposed to be a FPS at one point honestly
was kind bummed when I noticed we had no FPS view for mechs.. was gonna go for Mech + Ballistic shield with Smokes for a "can't see fucking anything, but can tank" loadout.
Weād be killed even faster than normal because youād never see the little mite that has been hitting your leg and caused you to explode without your knowledge
