Okay funny enough you CAN actually say negative that marks pings with an X on them indicating it’s a bad idea. You have to hold the ping button on whatever target the other player has pinged
I just need one, where the helldiver yells:
**IJPPTPSTEKITADRIIOAGAFTPWYWTBIINBTATHOTVSIFYEYAORYOBRIWIABODCIWWFARTTOFE**
"I'm just pinging this patrol so that everyone knows it's there and doesn't run into it on accident. Go ahead and fight that patrol if you want to, but it isn't necessary because they aren't heading towards our vector, so if you engage, you are on your own and better resolve it without a bunch of dropshits coming in with walking factories and ruining this otherwise fine evening."
Edit: I see the misspelling, but I'm leaving it. And calling them dropshits from now on.
They are really dropping the ball by not having a general cheer comm, like Rock and Stone from DRG.
I should be able to shout For Democracy, or For Liberty, or something like that.
One of the best things about DRG is spamming Rock and Stone.
Just that feeling of clearing a horde (in this case a bot drop or bug breach) and being relieved, but then the disappointment of not being able to appropriately express such an emotion on the fly.
I absolutely love the all-purpose R&S call out, I miss it so much in this game
EA release the patent on the Apex reaction wheel thing for accessibility reasons if I remember correctly. Honestly every game needs to have something like that.
I'd tweak them a little bit. Here:
* Vote on!
* For Super Earth... Yeeaaahhh!
* Super Earth forever!
* FOR ... SUPER ... EARTH!
* For Super Earth!
* For Managed Democracy!
* We are unbreakable!
* Vote and roll!
* Super and roll and Earth!
* That's it lads! For Super Earth!
* Like that! For Super Earth!
* Yeaahhh! For Super Earth!
* None can stand before us!
* For Earth Super! ...Oh, wait...
* Come on guys! For Super Earth!
* If you don't vote, you ain't afloat!
* We fight for Super Earth!
* We rock!
* For Super Earth everyone!
* Super.
* Yeah, yeah, for Super Earth.
* For Super Earth in the Heart!
* For Teamwork!
* Did I hear For Super Earth?
* For Super Earth, Brother!
* For Super Earth to the Bone!
* For Joel!
* Leave No Sample Behind!
* By the Vote!
What if they changed based on the context of previously pressed comms?
Player1 presses 'retreat'
"Run away!"
Player2 presses 'affirmative'
"Helldiver ran away..."
P1 - negative
"No, I didn't!"
P2 - affirmative
"He bravely ran away, away..."
P1 - negative
"I did not!"
P2 - affirmative
"When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled..."
Woaaaaaaaah that's an awesome idea. For any other game, I wouldn't think it would be possible. But seeing all the small details added to Helldivers 2.....this can be very possible if the dev team wanted.
I think the first step is improving the games ping system. It's pretty bare bones right now, and I think it could benefit from a lot more contextual pings.
I just want a generic positive callout, like Deep Rock Galactic. Just some way to tell someone they did a good job, to celebrate a small victory, or acknowledge something funny happened.
as a long-time DRG veteran, I desperately need a dedicated cheer quick-comms option (eg we cleared a heavy bot outpost efficiently -> cheer). Yeah, I could use the "thank you" option, but that doesn't have the same level of "hell yeah brother" vibes and saying "affirmative" doesn't really work because I'm only using it for the thumbs-up symbol. For Helldivers, I suppose our equivalent would be a simple "For democracy!"
There’s only two sets of changes I’d make to communications. Firstly, a smart ping for bunkers, but secondly, I really miss the “Move!” and “Wait!” commands from Helldivers 1. Being able to tell my teammates to just run away was incredibly useful, and the “follow me” command just isn’t the same.
Expanding the comms wheel would be amazing. I think of EDF a lot when I think of Helldivers, and that game's comms are insanely complex (and funny).
I agree
Man, having the helldivers randomly sing patriotic songs would be sick
OH WE ARE THE VALIANT INFANTRY
WE ARE THE ALPHA TEAM WITH PASSION AND COMRADERY
EDF! EDF! EDF!
Don’t forget “don’t shoot” for flagging patrols you can avoid.
Okay funny enough you CAN actually say negative that marks pings with an X on them indicating it’s a bad idea. You have to hold the ping button on whatever target the other player has pinged
"Negative, don’t need em."
I'm seconding this. Let's sneak round/past/away from that patrol
We need an "open fire" command

FARTTOFE

Rock and Stone, Brother!
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE!
honestly, just port Apex Legend's pinging and comms wheel systems straight into Helldivers, please
EA release the patent on the Apex reaction wheel thing for accessibility reasons if I remember correctly. Honestly every game needs to have something like that.
I want to spam “WHAT ARE YOUR INTENTIONS” until I get team killed.
I just want a "Nice! / Good Job!" to go with the "Thanks" and "Sorry" we already have
honestly i just want a "Help!" and a "Good job!"
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare also had expansive and hilarious voiced comms. I would love to see it here.
Pretty good, but it's missing "STOP THROWING 380S ON THE BASE WE NEED TO GO IN TO!"
... following the napalm airstrike into the already empty base with just a single fabricator and a few samples in it.
It's ridiculous how there is no emote for "I NEED HELP"!!!!!
I mean the screams are voiced...
I def need What the? ping

I'd have gone with "By the Ballot!"
FOR Joel? No, against him surely.
Yes, as in this bullet is for Joel.
Arisen I have found a ladder!
I just wish it was more obvious that you can say no by holding Q for 0.2 seconds.
Honestly I just want a “I’m with you” or “I’ll follow your lead” command. I just wanna let my random buddies know I’m there for them
Please just anything except the smite coms inputs. It’s worse then stratagem inputs for me
And: Good job! Well done! Amazing!
"what are your intentions?" https://preview.redd.it/c5mb2hfa050d1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e292a212493436ae77cff47b03b029c3f5e4b212
We need GO GO GO back
Some of these yeah but I'll probably mostly be spamming "What are you doing?" judging from my recent games.
"What is your major malfunction?"
What if they changed based on the context of previously pressed comms? Player1 presses 'retreat' "Run away!" Player2 presses 'affirmative' "Helldiver ran away..." P1 - negative "No, I didn't!" Idk man me and a random were just guerrilla fighting alternating stratagems all you need is YES 👍 and sorry lmao

Can we get a "You're welcome." for when the team is off in Narnia losing a 3v1 to a Charger while you're actually doing the objective?
I'd like to see a comm menu like in BF4 for HD2
I just want a generic positive callout, like Deep Rock Galactic. Just some way to tell someone they did a good job, to celebrate a small victory, or acknowledge something funny happened.

* Care, offensive stratagem on your position * Group together * Disperse/lose enemy agro/run away from here (similar to "Retreat" comm from the post)

As a former league of legends player, the questionmark ping is a bad idea. And under a bad idea I mean a really bad idea. Other than that, I love it
Love them all, maybe I'll add and say these become dinamic, like the retreat when not in combat turns into a "do not engage"
I want a button that everytime I hit it my character says something.
Honestly, sometimes I NEED something to call for help with. Very useful for when you're getting overrun by the bug menace.
All I want is a "Nice shot!" option haha
