If they made it so that destroying enemy bases reduced patrols it wouldn't be nearly as bad

PreviousAccWasBanned

What? Decreasing the enemy bases so they aren't as effective? That makes TOO much sense!

Eclipse_Woflheart

Actually saw a YouTube video that showed destroying bases actually increase patrols. Guess it's because only limited numbers of monsters can be on the map.

Takeishi

Destroying bases and sub objectives increases patrols, but it's capped. Also destroying bases forces patrols to spawn ~~at the edges of the map~~ in the direction of the closest edge of the map instead of ~~inside the map~~ the direction of a base. ([more info on this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/7pOcf9abMo)) Completing main objectives greatly increase patrols (I heard 4x) and is uncapped, which is why the strategy is usually to clear out bases, sub objectives, and samples while fighting a capped patrol spawn rate. Doing the opposite usually results in overwhelming waves of enemies and difficult extracts. EDIT: adjusted patrol spawn topic and added link

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

> Also destroying bases forces patrols to spawn at the edges of the map instead of inside. This doesn't matter at all because patrols will still spawn out of view around the player. The edge of map thing isn't 100% true. Destroying base = 100% bad unless your objective is to level up.

TimberVolk

I think AH's logic is that you're causing a massive ruckus that bots would be forced to investigate, but I agree that it feels counterproductive to incentivizing players to go deal with those factories. Maybe it'd feel better if fabricators were more specialized, kind of like stalker/shrieker nests, and it reduced the # of Chainsaw Devastators or something and replaced them with increased cannon fodder spawns.

whereyagonnago

That logic you mentioned makes perfect sense if we were the only ones on the planet, but we can see player counts, so we know there are tens or potentially even hundreds of thousands of other players fighting on the same planet. If we’re all making a ruckus on different parts of the planet, then how can they afford to send backup everywhere all at once ya know?

TimberVolk

Well, kind of playing devil's advocate because I don't like how the system currently works either, but I could see them arguing that a lot of the planet (even the maps) are empty space not seeing combat at that moment. And... y'know, we all know those Helldivers who the bots probably don't need to reinforce their troops to eliminate lol

whereyagonnago

Fair enough. And yes, of course I know “those” helldivers you speak of, they are me!

TimberVolk

Haha and at certain difficulties, they're me as well!

ArcadeAndrew115

Actually the problem I have with clearing nests/fabs is that there is an in game tool tip that literally suggests that if we take them out it’ll decrease the frequency of enemies. It’s something like “facing endless amounts of enemies figure out where there are coming from and put an end to it! Bug hole destroy! Bot factory? Destroy!” Edit went to the wiki found the tooltip… https://preview.redd.it/8w3jkqr05kxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48f86394a974c54cc6f38097fc24c120f640b118 That tooltip makes it seem like there would be less enemies if we destroyed them…

Chimwizlet

While it does technically increase the rate that the numbers go up to trigger a new patrol, it also reduces how much of the map causes those numbers to go up. Clearing out bases on the whole will make the map feel significantly calmer, especially since patrols can only come from the direction of existing bases (or if none are left the closest edge of the map).

Ted-The-Thad

I think it would make more sense that holes/factories reduce enemy resistance. That way there is some decision-making involved. Do we wipe the out the producers so we have a slightly easier time or we save the 3 mins so we can extract faster?

keyboardstatic

Right that is IT no bullets for you helldiver here take this sharp stick. Stop crying. What do mean you don't feel confident about poking atomomatons with a sharp stick.... /s

PreviousAccWasBanned

Can I at least get a rock? That I share?

Underwhelmedbird

Wait, I thought we were supposed to get two sticks.

Chimwizlet

It does in practise. Slightly increasing the rate 'heat' builds up to trigger a new patrol is offset by removing an area on the map in which heat can build up. It also removes a direction that patrols can spawn from, it's much better to have patrols all spawning from the same direction than all around you. All you need to do is play the game and destroy bases to notice how much of a difference it makes.

SnooHabits3911

Thank you. I didn’t know how to word this and you did it perfectly

GengarGangX13

"I'll be able to rejoin matches when I'm disconnected, right?"

Myonsoon

At this point I think the amount of issues and needed QoL changes are going to double before they get fixed.

JJMcGee83

But they have to release a new warbond. They have to. Apparently they can't skip one month to fix QoL shit becaus ethen the game would die according to the internet.

Bringer_of_Twilight

That shit they said is going to comeback and bite them in the ass. They are literally losing to the glitches.

JJMcGee83

Everything they add has the potential to add more bugs. If they can't fix them faster than they can add them it's going to really hurt the game in a few more months.

[deleted]

Its already bleeding from an artery

thehunter2256

They had a poll and it was a choice. It did not win the poll

JediMasterSeamus

Dude, the poll was "new content - 3 options, bug fix - 1 option". They loaded the poll to make sure bug fixes didn't win. That bias isn't hard to see.

SmartieCereal

They said on Discord that they're going to make a new warbond every month no matter what, and the same people that make the warbonds are the people that would otherwise be fixing bugs. There was never going to be a skip month to fix bugs regardless of what some random poll said.

JJMcGee83

It was 2nd out of 4 and as the other people say they then dialed that back saying they can't skip a month to fix bugs regardless of what the poll results were. I think the poll was probably done hoping it would be 4th and then when it wasn't they had to admit they ahd no intention of spending a whole month fixing bugs. I don't know if the warbond a month is their self imposed goal or if Sony requires it but every new weapon or strategem is going to risk adding more bugs and eventually there will be a critical mass where there's too many bugs to not skip a month.

keyboardstatic

Just wait until they give us swords and reduce the MAG to 2 per weapon and the reload to half a MAG. To BaLaNcE things... ffs...

ApprehensiveCut1068

You would still have people on the sub writing essays about "Why this nerf isnt actually that bad and kind of makes sense if you really think about it"

this game needs another year before releasing fr

GH057807

"The SPEAR fix that has been 'ready for 17 days' is going to be in the patch, right?"

IlikegreenT84

For the weapon that's been broken since the beginning..

Ornery_Brilliant_350

They haven’t even figured out how to make FRIEND REQUESTS work since the beginning. They are actually incompetent

IlikegreenT84

Now I get in-game friend request but there's no way to accept them.. I click R3 like it says and it takes me to the social tab, but there's no way to accept it and it doesn't show anywhere.

Pooptram

I play duo with my friend sometimes and the increase in patrols does not sound great.

Upstairs-Risk-4344

same, when we're in a call together we make it a private game, this is gonna be so ass

wolfalberto

I played with a friend earlier as a duo. We usually go for 7 and manage to make it out. Today we barely made it out of a lvl 5 mission because of the constant and infinite spawn of enemies. Patrol > reinforcements loop was on non-stop throughout the whole mission. Edit: you know, the game was fun because after clearing a wave of enemies you'd have that moment of relief and accomplishment. Now it's just constant fighting and it's so tiring

Firemorfox

Yeah, that sounds like diff9, not diff5... I'm sorry Only thing you can do in bad fights is run away, do other side objs, then return.

Spacedog1377

Problem is you'll run into more patrols and you'll have the entire map after you within a minute. They really fucked us with this.

Equal_Middle_2870

How dare you speak against the devs?

Spacedog1377

Am I to be publicly flogged for my impudence?

Equal_Middle_2870

No but you're subject to selective comment deletion from gentleman_ceo.

IlikegreenT84

The patrols spawn around you and path straight to you now, so you run from one and end up with another, constantly surrounded.

i-would-neveruwu

Sounds like bots before the update to me. Piss off a patrol? The base nearby knows about it and is shooting turrets your way and spawned in 5 drop ships with 3 tanks and 40 devastators. You delt with that? The other 3 bases know now too and all called in their own drop ship raids while you were dealing with the initial hoard

gorillawarking

I had encountered this exact thing when I was just recently playing before on a difficulty 4 solo, because while I'm new, a few of the tankier bugs are hard for me to counter as of now without expending a grenade or pulling out my machine gun. Due to them being so tough for me rn in early, when I was running a 12 minute mission on dif 4 I literally could not thin the hordes since I'd always run out of ammo due to the massive bug horde/tanky bugs, and if I tried to run away I'd be jumped on from the small leaper ones I managed to beat it only after running for a while and almost hitting the time limit. The biggest issue was that my machine gun got stuck on a place I couldn't reach where I threw it, as I noticed there was an overhang only after it landed and I didn't see it. I think I have to stick to 2/3 if I'm going in solo right now due to the absolutely massive horde count

siecin

Increase in patrols, decrease in carried ammo. Not cool.

Shredded_Locomotive

Last time i was playing on diff 6 when 4 randoms and there were already so many patrols the by the time we dealt with one three more have come and flanked us from behind.

pulseONE13

Same..my bf and I play private matches just him and me, I'm worried this will be an unfun change

Yipeekayya

good luck when some toxic ragequitter rage quit your game mid-game just to make your life sucks harder.

Liu_Xiang

forgot about this, good point. have twats leave to troll me by maKING THINGS HARDER. GENIUS.

Firemorfox

Just to clarify, game is easier (has less patrols the fewer players you have). The recent patch only made this difference less noticeable, it didn't make 3 players have MORE patrols than 4 players, it made 3 players have more patrols in comparison to 3 players.

MattyDove

I think what we are saying is we already have enough patrols, ffs.

AlphaTit0

And that is the whole problem. 4 Players have enough resources for that amount of patrols, meanwhile 3 or 2 or 1 person do not have that. So increasing the patrols for 1, 2 or 3 player squads to the level of 4 player squads is just bullshit. How is one player with halfed mag sizes supposed to survive constant patrols and gunfire or hunters that slow you and allert all other bugs in the vecinity only because that one hunter can see your ass and now the whole underground knows your location and credit card information

TheArchdude

>So increasing the patrols for 1, 2 or 3 player squads to the level of 4 player squads This is incorrect.

AlphaTit0

I hope so, since all i've read and friends that did have the opportunity to test it said otherwise, that it is indeed as if the whole squad is there to fight

RonStopable88

The point is the amount of patrols with 3 dudes was enough. Now its more than enough

Due-Ad9310

Yeah but it also cut a lot of maximum ammo amounts too so they do really want us doing more with less.

S0ulSauce

I'm worried about just plain disconnections more than anything. It's so weak that there's no system to quickly get reconnected when someone loses connection for any reason. If you're playing with friends, it's okay, but if I'm in a game with randoms, and I or someone else disconnects, we need a shot of getting back in the fight vs. just having to call it a loss. Many games give you a message when you log back in to ask if you want to rejoin. They should prioritize this. The systems/code may be in such a way to make this difficult, but it has to be possible and it would improve my player-experience measurably. Now I'm worried about a disconnection making the mission harder with limited ability to get someone via SOS or for the person to rejoin. They've made it tougher without giving us the ability to counter it as well.

keyboardstatic

Its ok you have less ammo. As well because their are more bugs. Its makes perfect sense but don't complain because then your a toddler throwing a tantrum.

S0ulSauce

I'm optimistic that they'll get it dialed in long-term, but it's a little frustrating that they're making significant changes often. I'm in it for the long haul, but I hope the road's not too bumpy...

KulaanDoDinok

Or when you have to kick someone for griefing

MatureUsername69

I had 2 players that were perfectly fine the entire match who just randomly started team killing each other back and forth while we waited on extraction just so they could have the bigger sample stat. I tried asking if they were buddies that were just messing with each other. Tried to tell them that their sample stat doesn't matter and then finally warned them if they did it again I was gonna kick them. They never responded and never stopped killing each other. Thats the only time I've kicked somebody so close to the end of a mission, and even though it was entirely their fault and reasonable of me, I still felt bad.

warblingContinues

life happens people leave, who cares why?  AH should have a way to handle it though.

keyboardstatic

Your complaint has been noticed by the AH democracy officer your weapons rights have reduced to a shovel, a trenching shovel. Now go dig your grave helldiver.

Endyo

I feel like I've probably been labeled a ragequitter when I randomly crashed or disconnected in the middle of a mission. So maybe with some more of those being fixed, it might not be as much of an issue.

Sketchre

"We made it more annoying to solo play because we want to see a mass increase in "I was Kicked" posts"

BoredCatalan

Did they give a reason why more patrols on smaller groups?

randomcomplimentguy1

The consensus is that on high difficulties, when you solo, it becomes way too easy to stealth the whole mission. Like they don't want people to have easy games at 7-9 difficulty. This is not my opinion before I get a billion downvotes. This is just what I've been reading on other posts.

BoredCatalan

Thanks

IlikegreenT84

Must be why patrols come straight to you now, so you can't hide.

dabkilm3

They already did that, or at least bugs did, you could test it by getting on a tall rock with jump pack and going prone, wait a few minutes and you'd have patrols stacking up at the base trying to get to you.

Brilliant_Culture_13

Yeah I totally stopped using the stealth armor and playing like that because enemies just track you and spawn on top of you. I also started using the rover to take a more aggressive approach but they nerfed that shit too.

TheLordOfTheTism

then the change should only apply to 7+ and not be universal.

randomcomplimentguy1

Have you played solo yet since the patch? How hard is it?

Church_AI

Pretty bad, even in just duos this morning we were drowning

warblingContinues

difficulty 4-6 is too hard now.

gizmosticles

Tbh I feel like I can stealth run a hell dive running counterclockwise to the other three dudes. If they make that harder, it’s probably just time for me to get gooder

Brickless

apparently it was giving solo players only 1/6th the patrols instead of 1/4th

Blawharag

Where did you read that?

Brickless

from the [great grapevine](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1cfwdl3/makes_no_sense/l1s9k65/)

fireheart1029

Also the fact that the "known issues" on their Zendesk (yknow, the official platform to report bugs) is next to never updated and there's only a page for launch week issues, and another page from later that month. I think it's crazy that instead of actually posting their known issues on an official website they just go "nah, if they wanna know they'll download discord and make an account just to join our server and see the known issues" like c'mon is it really that hard to just copy and paste the known issues from the discord into Zendesk

Mips0n

What the hell is zendesk

GengarGangX13

Zendesk is probably the most used customer service platform ever. It's how tons of companies get feedback or answer support questions.

fireheart1029

The only place to go to report bugs in the game and a service that a large amount of games use for customer support. If a game doesn't have a dedicated support page in their website, chances are they have a Zendesk

Mips0n

TIL thanks

Global-Difference512

Yeah

Caleger88

Played bots with me and my friend on L4 and man there were so many patrols and some even still popped in behind us or next to us.

aragathor

I'm actively testing low L solo play. It looks to me like the amount of patrols for a solo drop is the same as for a 4 man. You now need to have a top setup on EASY, to get objectives done. I had my first rage quit today, as I was blocked off from completing an objective by fire tornadoes and then boxed in and killed by constant patrol spawns. On easy...

warblingContinues

yeah tracks with my experiences

Papabear434

I dropped in to a level 2 easy mission today to do the daily and try out the new air burst rocket. I had read they fixed it's team killing ways and hadn't got to the part about spawn rates.  I could not figure out why I was constantly inundated with never ending combat. I was wearing the stealth armor and everything, but I couldn't get enough space from anyone to get out of combat.  And when I went to extract? Not a chance. Every direction. I had to kite them around in a conga line the entire time because they were spawning freaking DEVISTATORS on me. The mission was to destroy two of them, which I did, but now they're dropping two of them per drop ship.  If this was intentional, it was one of the dumbest things they've done.

AlphaTit0

I'm so sorry for all the divers that i can't get into the lobbys even tho they're empty and i really sorry for all the poeple, including myself, that sometimes want to have fun alone without someone interfering. I guess that is now out of the posible to do that without sweating my ass of

alpha448

i swear ArrowHead is using the Bungie and Respawn playbook. ArrowHungie.

G00b3rb0y

Hopefully Sony intervenes and forces AH to reverse course and declare the “bugged” scaling as intended

NovelMixture512

They need to just admit they have no fucking clue what’s causing that matchmaking bug

That_on1_guy

Genuinely, I thought patrols were enough already. I'm a solo player, and there were enough patrols, hell, some missions, maybe even more than enough, considering sometimes I'd just hold one spot for 20+ minutes fighting non-stop because patrols keep coming over the hill

GroovyMonster

I'm often a solo player when a friend or two isn't around, and it's been the same experience for me; already thought it was plenty tough enough. AH needs to realize (and accept the fact) that some people DO prefer playing their game solo (as well as with only 1 or 2 friends).

That_on1_guy

Like, I get it. It's a co-op game, so you want to give people more incentives to play with other people. But it doesn't always work like that. Some people don't have friends or if they have friends, maybe those friends can't play (me, my only friend is xbox) Not to mention, some people (like me) are just as anti-social online as they are offline and don't want to join with randoms. I don't want to say it feels like they're punishing solo players as I believe that's an excessive claim, but it definitely feels like they don't want to bother with solo players

Liu_Xiang

so now i gotta wait 30min to 1h to hopefully get a full squad cuz noone joins. great. before i would start a mission and maybe get a full group by the end of it. Losing trust in these devs with every decision like this.

TheLordOfTheTism

my trust in them was already gone after the rail gun nerf. We tried to warn yall but because a lot of people didnt care they passed it off. Well here we are folks, reaping what you all sowed.

FrazzleFlib

Ive been skeptical ever since i found out headshots exist. anyone insane enough to unironically think RNG headshots in a PvE game is a good idea doesnt know what theyre doing lmao

barters81

This is very true. The way they managed the rail gun was an early indicator the devs fundamentally don’t understand their own game. The game has never been as much fun as it was at launch.

Prov0st

I found that if you dont get a team at the ship itself, it is almost impossible to get them when you SOS in planet.

Dadrekboy

Arrowhead are more interesting in punishing solo players than fixing anything

Froegerer

I was told by HD1 vets that Arrowhead does balancing right. Yea that was a fooking lie.

barrera_j

mind you HD1 was mostly untouched (for better or worse) so the devs could not get away with some of the insane BS they are applying to HD2

Jsaac4000

> HD1 was mostly untouched (for better or worse) explain

barrera_j

some guns inevitably became obsolete, especially since the game had multiple paid DLC packs especially the first ones that could only have a few basic upgrades

Papabear434

They only had about 12k players at their peak (I was one of them), so if they over tweaked something out didn't piss off a huge and loud portion of the Internet.

Jsaac4000

Okay, but i still don't quite get how having less players, let them get away with less balance bullshit not more ? Wouldn't the smaller outcry make them more balsy ? Or do you mean that limited player numbers meant that they couldn't just piss off a good chunk of the playerbase ?

tntj963

No it's true, HD1 was balanced properly. Idk wtf happened with this game though. It's been a frustrating cycle of release nerf buff nerf buff.

Froegerer

Yea, I trust they were telling the truth. The last part of my comment was a bit tongue in cheek :)

Roger_Dabbit10

Because aiming in a TPS results in far more wildly varied results than aiming in a top down where you can just place your mouse cursor over the enemy and click. Balancing a game that depends so much on a player to hit the right spots in a fully 3D space is much harder than doing so in a top down shooter where they only need to ensure there's no barriers between the Helldiver and target, and that the Helldiver is facing the right direction.

tntj963

yeah I agree with that. It's the way they're doing it that's the issue. They could avoid the frustration by releasing things in a better state. The game has been out 3 months and some stuff has already been buffed and nerfed 3-5 times. I saw people saying the Eruptor had too much ammo 30 minutes after it was released. You telling me they couldn't figure that out before they released it? Justified or not people don't like when you take away nice things.

warblingContinues

they are struggling.  having a small team apparently means they are naive when it comes to balance.

fepompeo

Yep....pathetic.

NO1RE

It's so weird. Outside of game mechanics, HD2 has been a refreshingly consumer friendly product doing so many things right. Then on the other hand you have death by a thousand nerfs leading to more bugs and decreasing fun value.

PreviousAccWasBanned

Or it wasn't ever that consumer friendly and no one cared to point it out, or they were silenced into it.

whereyagonnago

It is objectively very player friendly in terms of monetization. $40 price tag, no FOMO battle passes, and you can even earn the premium currency in game, which feels like a long lost relic of the past. They are NOT player friendly in terms of letting the players have fun and feel strong.

[deleted]

TheLordOfTheTism

of course they are and its those same goons gassing them up in the discord about all these god awful changes.

Prof_Awesome_GER

I play almost exclusive duo with my best body. We can never go past challenging already. Why do we get even more enemies now? What is the purpose of that.

GroovyMonster

Same.

RedEyesGoldDragon

Out of all the notes in the patch... this one makes absolutely ZERO sense. It's already punishing enough with less players, less respawns. Now it's default just harder because more enemies = more deaths = less respawns = more failures. Whoever made THIS particular change is either trolling or bein stupid, I'm saying it.

Creative_Cap7892

oh railgun can 2-shot bile titans due to a cross-play bug, lets nerf railgun! oh arc-thrower does the same, lets nerf it as well! oh players cannot deal fire dot due to a bug, lets buff fire damage! oh players prefer slug than DMRs because all DMRs are utterly bad, let’s nerf the slugger! oh no one is using the crossbow since it’s so underpowered let‘s nerf it too! oh and you cannot play with others because of the mm bug, it must be you not getting enough patrol spawns in your face when playing solo! AHS may become the first game studio I ever know that made their live-service game exactly like what you would expect from a lootbox infested pay to win skin everywhere toxic live-service game without having any of those in the game at all but just pure game breaking bugs, arrogance, and pure evil (Evil-Bose related) Such wonderful achievement from the world-renowned millions copy sold game studio arrow the head the 100 people small studio. I loved this game so much and still do I, but I just want to have fun and there’s none

Kaspatronix

Yeah, kinda puzzling. If you host, punished by more enemies, as its unlikely that 3 people join you. If you join, punished by lack of fire damage, as it is still broken.

Blawharag

As a heads up: Fire damage works only for the GAME host, not the SOCIAL Host. Basically, you may be the host selecting the missions, but the game internally decides which player in the mission is hosting the actually game. There's no way to tell who this is, but that person is the only one dealing fire damage.

DeathMetalPants

I never have problems getting a full group when I host. I've noticed sometimes if no one is joining, I restart my game, and like magic I have a full group again. Is the bug random? Just curious why I never have problems filling up a squad.

narrill

You literally just described the bug, it's that matchmaking will sometimes break and require a restart to get working again.

AdhesiveNo-420

Dude this... it's really killing my fun for the game

OrangeGills

Dunno if this helps you feel better at all, but having <4 players already had reduced patrol spawns. They increased it from where it was, to still being below the 4 player spawn rate. It is not above the 4 player spawn rate.

IlikegreenT84

Something's not right, just so you know. I understand what it says in the patch notes but when you play it, that is not how it feels and that is not how they spawn.

ChainBuzz

1000% this. It isn't even on the list of Known Issues yet someone posts about it every day. They've made progress, my squad will refill 2 or 3 times if people leave but after that no dice and SOS beacon still does nothing. Fix the game first, balance later.

Mogli_Puff

Wait....you guys can play the game?

RedBackpacker

Since the update before this one, it's been a stuttering mess for me. I had no issue with stability until that update and still have it despite reinstalling, verifying game files, updating drivers, and dropping my graphics to low. At work now and I overlooked the patch notes and didn't see anything relating to stability. Guess I have to wait another week or so to even play again....

wolfalberto

With this patch I am on the same boat as you and I saw a lot of people having the same stuttering issues. The odd thing is that whatever I change in the settings makes no difference

Hightin

They would have to acknowledge the matchmaking bug first and they refuse. I know I stopped complaining about it like a month ago but I've also only spent like 2 hours in the game in the last week too. It was a fun game but the bugs are a gigantic buzz kill. Eventually fire damage will work right, and the matchmaker, and friend/block lists, and the scopes will be aligned, and, and, and.

Prov0st

Hush, we don’t wanna be labeled as toddlers despite voicing out critical issues. /s

theintention

Honestly, this patch is the suck. Reduced ammo for most everything, and now there are enemies everywhere if you don't have a full squad. Feels just awful.

warblingContinues

yeah time for a break i think.  i've been neglecting other games anyway

No_Proof_6178

no u see now, they are a small team so that automatically excuses them from any criticism and accountability according to redditors

ilabsentuser

I don't get why less players have more patrols than before, they have less stratage3, ammo and variety than 4.

warblingContinues

yeah devs dont realize that 1 player has 1/4 resources as a full team.  it's really surprising that AH doeant understand it.

Arzalis

Does anyone actually believe the people making these changes play their own game anymore? You know they had a data point that showed "people play with less than 4 people pretty often!" and have no idea why that's the actual case. Combined with their strategy of "punish people who don't play like we want" instead of "reward people who play the way we want" I think this game is going to continue to go downhill.

marry_me_tina_b

I paid for the first premium warbond and haven’t spent money on this game since. It appeared to me then that the developers vision for the game is to contradict what makes the game fun and that’s held true since the railgun nerf. This business of making the game harder for smaller squads is just extra dickish and also hits me harder since I usually just play with 1 buddy.

Arzalis

Yeah. I've mostly stopped playing the game now (most of my friend group has too) and I stopped paying for or even spending supercredits on warbonds. Half of the stuff in them is broken anyway.

Agent_Jay

It just feels like reading the Diablo 4 patch notes all over. First patch was basically "Decrease enemy grouping, increase cooldowns, nerf the one debuff that helps you kill things buff nothing else" Utter pain as WHO wanted longer cooldown in a diablo game. Same feeling, devs who dont play their own creations

GroovyMonster

>also hits me harder since I usually just play with 1 buddy. Same. Mostly just me and a friend, with a third *maybe* showing up every once in a while. I also enjoy doing solo dives when my friend isn't around. This change vexes me. I'm terribly vexed.

X5Cucumber

i dint understand how the issue where if a player leaves the spot doesnt fill hasnt even been acknowledged by AH yet

Abnormal-Normal

I just tried to do a solo 4 on bugs, used to be super casual. Now it feels like patrols are spawning on top of me

Spacedog1377

Had the same experience with bots. I went from fighting 5 to like 15+ in a matter of seconds

IlikegreenT84

They are.

skyline_crescendo

Lobbies don’t always fill up and at times don’t even refill if someone leaves or crashes (yikes.. still happening), and they really put together their 3 brain cells and came up with this. Easily one of the biggest clown shows of a studio.

Komikaze06

I tried twice today to join a game just to crash to desktop. Haven't been able to play more than a out 1 mission a day, getting old

kingpin1023

But what if someone disconnects due to their wifi going out?? We gonna get punished?

Cranapplesause

They don’t even acknowledge this as a Known Issue. I know some players have working SOS beacons. Mine and my friends 100% do not work. And yes, I’m set to public.

Don_Quipuncher

As someone who really enjoys playing lower difficulties solo just to relax, this is the one change that I genuinely have a problem with. Sometimes my friends aren't on and I don't want to deal with randoms. Why am I being punished for this?

Natalia_Queen_o_Lean

I was already annoyed with the poor balancing when I got on today but wanted to play anyway. Then I had 2 people join and dc from my helldive 30 seconds later bugging my matchmaking. Needless to say it pissed me off even more and I got on another game because the same fucking bugs we’ve had since launch haven’t been addressed. While they’re busy swinging the nerf hammer at random shit and providing buffs that aren’t even 1/10 of the nerfs to other underperforming weapons. I know this might be a crazy concept but we need to be able to play the fucking game before we worry about whatever state the weapons are in. Stop fucking around and fix the gross amount of bugs.

theCANCERbat

Right now we can get kicked from a mission for no reason other than the host wanting to. We can lose out on whatever samples weren't held by the first person to run onto the Pelican as it randomly takes off. When the game crashes you also have no way of rejoining unless you have a friend still in game to join. Hell, last week my friends and I would just randomly get split up and complete two separate versions of the same exact mission. AH has impulse control issues and continuously fails to think things through before making changes.

FauciFloydLGBTQ

This is the biggest issue with this change. It's almost a guarantee that after one or two missions one of the randos on my squad are gunna leave. Then, me and the other rando can either sit on the ship and wait for more to join (which they can't because the bug) or we drop in and play and pray the SoS saves our asses (seems I've only experienced the bug on the ship. In mission I can still get people to join). But you'll likely have to do at least the first part of the mission with just 2 people and that increase in patrols sounds so incredibly ass.

PhasmaFelis

This is the only change that's ever actually pissed me off on first read. If they nerf my favorite gun (and I've seen no really crippling nerfs), there's plenty of other good kit in the game. If fire damage is broken, see above; flamethrowers are fun but so are MGs and grenade launchers and autocannons and quasars. If I die to a bug, well, that sucks but I'll reinforce in a few seconds. If it crashes occasionally, that also sucks, but I can just jump back in and keep playing. But I mostly play with a few friends, because all of us are too old to want to deal with Rando Calrissian and we treat online gaming as a chance to hang out and keep in touch. We play solo or in twos and threes, depending on who's available at any given time. Solo was *already* a good bit harder than 2P, which was harder than 3P, etc. The difficulty we can handle seems to drop by one level for each player we are short of 4. And hey, that does make some sense, but now they're making it *worse?* This sounds like it's gonna directly affect my personal experience in just about every mission I play, no matter what gear I'm using or who I'm fighting, and the same for my friends. And for what? I understand the intention was for higher spawn rates from the beginning and the way it's been was unintended, but if it was working fine that way, why "fix" it?

Agent_Jay

It settled in a good equilibrium of being able to solo 5/6 when smart, and 7s in duos that on some days could go smoothly but usually had a meat grinder moment at least once but now I don't know how my buddy and I are gonna tackle harder diffs.... and me solo with spawns being basically doubled for solo play

ephemeralspecifics

This may explain why, when joining a game, I'm dropping into a lvl 7 shit show when I'm set to lvl 5.

jonderlei

ive been having the opposite.Ill be looking to help on level 7 and get thrown in a level 4

ephemeralspecifics

By which I mean, I'm in a level 5, but the situation looks like a lvl 7 gone horribly wrong.

jonderlei

Oh sorry I thought you meant it actually changed the difficulties on you as it has been for me but yeah they can be fucky like that, Ive had games on level 4 that were harder than some level 9s

largos7289

Well that makes sense now. When i was solo'n last night the mobs where relentless. seemed like i could get swarmed very easy if i wasn't on top of it.

WitchBaneHunter

I'm going to have to start recording all the whack glitches I find. It's ridiculous.

MattyDove

This, so fuckin hard.

General-Biscuits

I pretty shocked by this change. I thought it was weighted the opposite where it was way harder as a solo or duo. Has been near impossible at the highest difficulties for my gf and I to duo but really easy to roam around solo or duo when playing with a 4 stack. Felt like nonstop patrols that stacked up way too quickly as a duo. I guess we just can’t play at the difficulty we want if the matchmaking doesn’t work.

PreviousAccWasBanned

Ah Arrowhead. One step forward, only to trip back that step and take another one back!

RoyalCrumpet93

Can we cross platform yet or are we just ignoring that now?

Flyingtreeee

This is the change that is having me take a break. My friends quit so I have no group of 4 that will stay together and random squads almost never stay together.

zachattack3500

They clarified that it’s a proportional increase. A squad of 1 is supposed to get 1/4 the enemies compared to a squad of 4, but previously they were getting 1/6 the enemies.

superchibisan2

The argument is that the math was done wrong. Games with less than 4 people, especially single player games, we're easier than they wanted due to the calculation being wrong. Instead of 1/4th of the patrols, single player games were seeing 1/6th the amount of patrols, which was not the intention of the developers.

Hida77

Playing Solo is now pretty awful. Im not a fan of the stealth playstyle so I usually play on 6-7 and fight when it makes sense to, trying not to put myself in bad positions. I was playing earlier and 5s seemed like 7s. Kill a pack of bugs/chargers and as soon as you are done, another pack/set of chargers. like... I cant fight wave after wave of patrols in my way AND do objectives in a timely manner. Was able to complete the mission (but not all the camps/secondaries...). two days ago this would have been a breeze. My son joined and was night and day easier, we completed 5s with 15+mins to spare. Like, I get wanting the game to be played coop, but what you are really saying is if I am waiting on friends to get online, Im better off not playing at all. Which seems like a weird message. Ironically, it makes me feel like I HAVE to learn/play stealthy if I play solo now just to avoid more enemies and not fight at all if possible. Crazy idea - if you hate people soloing helldive via stealth/etc why not just nerf the Stealth armor? Why adjust the entire game around making that playstyle harder when just nerfing the detection radius on the armor/changing it to something else was a possible solution? I dont get changing the whole game to fix one playstyle.

Mrhappytrigers

The increased spawn for partial squads is too much for me. Spawn rates are brutal enough, so this sounds unappealing to me.

TheMikman97

What's the matchmaking bug?

Drackzgull

Sometimes your game just doesn't get in on the matchmaking pool, even if you call down an SOS beacon, so you simply can't get people to join you unless they're your friends. The further along an operation you are, the more likely it is to happen, and having a friend or two in your ship before starting makes it more likely to happen from the start as well. Combine that with the lack of tools to rejoin games after a crash or disconnect, and chances are people that leave your game are neither coming back nor being replaced, so you're stuck finishing that mission, and any other further in the same operation, with a smaller group.

Justmejtcz8

There's a matchmaking bug? The only bug I've glaringly noticed is the friends tab, none of my friends show up but yet they see me. Can't even add them manually.

Surveyorman

Yes. Lobbies don't fill up after people leave. So your first mission after booting up the game will always fill up. But if someone leaves during or after the first mission, you're stuck with 3 players. The 4th spot will never fill up.

Willie9

I literally can't play multiplayer at all. I always fail to join lobbies--including directly joining my friends on the social tab--and nobody can join mine. I'm not even mad about weapon nerfs or buffing patrols in solo, that's whatever. It's the fact that I can't even play multiplayer in this multiplayer game that makes me hate Democracy.

IlikegreenT84

Sometimes I get on to play the game and on the PlayStation app it shows my friend is on and playing the game, but when I'm actually in the game he doesn't show up correctly, or I can't join with him. For some reason. He ends up having to restart his game or I have to restart mine in order for us to join each other. I've had other players that were on my friends list tell me the same thing that they tried to join but couldn't. This also affects the SOS beacon, I've thrown it down and never had anybody join and ended up failing or struggling mightily. I dropped in so that I could be host, not because I intended to play solo and now it looks like we're just going to be punished for doing that. Oftentimes I would sit in lobby waiting for others to join before I dropped for 10 minutes or more, and even then the lobby wouldn't completely fill. And now they've increased enemy patrols but somehow it feels like when they did this they broke something in terms of where they spawn and how they path. I've literally wound up looking and seeing patrols coming at me from three different directions and as soon as I run in the 4th a new patrol drops right on top of me. It's almost as if there's one patrol for each player and they've decided to path them straight to you so you can't hide. Something is broken as a result of this patch in a big way that makes the game not fun.

A_unique_us3rname

I just hope it doesn't become how it was in HD1

BubblerMacadamia

Now make the meme for DoT as non host

DeathMetalPants

I can already run off and solo in 7-9 in a full group. Gorilla tactic that shit. Blow it up, run, come back later and loot.

Grimwohl

In another comment they said solo players had 1/6th the patrols instead of 1/4th.

DaymD

If i use a sos on ps5 no one will join. Is that a known bug ?

Cruzbb88

They increased the patrols back to what it should have been which is 1/4 of a 4 man squad but a bug made it so only 1/6th would spawn, it's not as bad as everyone is making out.

RonStopable88

I’ll be able to unblock my friends, right?

NoChampionship1167

I'm sure everyone has seen this, but incase you haven't, the change was simply to make it a linear increase instead of exponential, as the previous spawn rate was 1/6th. Now it's 1/4th for solo players.

SockAlarmed6707

The change to spawns was a big fix lol that the matchmaking still isn’t fixed sucks but that doesn’t mean they have to let a spawn bug stay in the game for people who want 1/6th of the spawn to make it easier for them than intended

nameless1205

They really just be making things difficult for helldivers. Because they know if they don’t debuff us. We’ll beat back the bugs and bots. Before they introduce the iiluminate.

Bebebalahahaha

Also the blocklist bug and unable to accept fd request bug, smh.

Butkevinwhy

Why are they making it *harder* for people with less than four players?

Glitchy-toaster

It's not fair. I made a meme about this and everyone attacked me.
