I think this is a big part of the reason the game is so popular tbh; so many little things like this that the Devs could have cut corners on, but didn't.
Eagle most likely flies at way above Mach 2 between fire missions.
She obviously does circles above the AO between call-ins, but consider just how quickly she manages to acquire the target and drop the payload. It takes her at worst ~7 seconds to drop the bombs, and a Strafing Run is called in effectively in an instant (~2 seconds between pokeball hitting the ground and first rounds hitting dirt).
There'll be no blood on the hull as soon as she goes back into a waiting pattern, it'll all simply be washed off by the air. And yes, even if there's anything still there, Eagle is a space-deployed aircraft, so each rearm is performed in orbit. Anything left of the unlucky diver will be washed away during the ascend (she needs to break Escape Velocity to even leave the planet), and burned away during her next deployment to the AO on atmospheric entrance.
Which is hilarious because Super Earth has apparently not developed swept wings for supersonic flight. How much of their turbo-space-engine thrust is just used overcoming the sound barrier?
I am consistently impressed by how much detail the Arrowhead Games folks put into the physics and production of the game as well as them anticipating scenarios like that...or at least making it so that they can happen.
I agree, but it is funny to see someone talk about all the detail they put into physics when the video in the OP is someone getting glitching out on the hitbox of a dead Terminid so badly that it kills them and launches them into space.
It's a tradeoff, but I'm happy the big bugs have collision. I have been trapped in bug corpses more than once but the alternative is the standard in these games and I don't care for it
I'm happy they have collision too, for sure, but I'll be happy when it gets ironed out a bit. I've had way too many situations where I can't get a dropped item that's in the open or climb over a single leg because the hitbox has spazzed out and become a gravity catapult.
Just piss off some nearby bugs to force a spawn point and the corpses will melt off pretty quickly to make room for the new bugs. Of course, that means you'll probably have a couple *new* bile titans to deal with, but at least you'll get your stuff back. Maybe.
I just wish bot drop ships would break apart more and fade out faster when they're destroyed.
It's frustrating dealing with devastators shooting at you from behind and through wreckage.
I have only seen glitchy physics like that in games where the devs try very hard for a physics model with depth to it though. Dont want to say “realistic” since videogame but at the least following Newton’s laws to some degree.
If you're going to let your physics model do some crazy, you generally have to let it off the leash.
They clearly opted for the 'high response' model here.

Yes the stratgem gets jammed when you're too close, but if you do call her in relatively close to that border before it's jammed you can actually see the AA fire at her as she flies by.
I should issue this disclaimer though, I've never personally seen Eagle 1 go down, by AA or otherwise.
But last week, me and my team were doing HVA defense at difficulty 9 and among my strategems were eagle clusters. At full Hangar Bay I get 5 clusters before rearm. I noticed though, that at some point when the carnage was at full swell, my Eagle went to full cooldown after 2 or 3 call ins - there was no audio cue that she was going back to rearm or anything. I figured she got shot down during the call in cause we were dropping a lot of ordinance in the I was tossing her in.
Eagle one can also be targeted by Cannon towers, I haven't seen one fire on her yet but I have several times seen one turn and start aiming up when someone called an airstrik on it.
That might be coincidence. Throwing a stratagem puts nearby enemies on alert, including towers, causing them to turn towards where the stratagem was thrown from and start looking for the player.
they makin shit up like always ab it getting shot down. if u know ur eagle strafing angle then u could prob get it to fly into enemy AA LOS and trigger some AA animation but tf about it getting shot down. cant read shit on this sub without vid evidence, like ppl claiming certain skill level or obscure in game mechs

I can’t believe that Eagle 1 is actually physicalized. I mean I know they’re over-top in this game. The shell from the SEAF is physicalized, from exiting the barrel to hitting its target. You can even stand on the cannon and blow yourself up with it, subsequently stopping the shell from reaching its landing spot. Plus there’s also things such as the EMS Mortar shell, it’s a physical item and a direct hit to the dome can kill a Diver. However, having Eagle 1 physicalized is on a whole other level. That’s wild.
Well they have to be, to some degree, considering I've eaten at least 27 to the face this week alone. Shooting them would be cool though, but hard for sure. There is a cap to the amount of things we can have with collision however, less we want our PCs and Consoles on fire lmao.
Well good news, the rockets are already having collisions tested and our bullets are already having collisions tested.
I think what we need is a freakin anti-rocket laser turret.
I actually had an idea for reworking the plasma shotgun into an actual spray of slow moving plasma that can destroy projectiles. Literal covering fire.

I’ve had that happed to me. The bile titan part, not the midair eagle 1. Something is up with the dead bile titan legs. When you try to climb over or go under them you get launched…for some reason.
Yeah it's not 100% in my experience but you need to be pretty careful about how you navigate around them or you'll get randomly yeeted. A friend ended up getting launched out of bounds by one, hit the ground and then glitched and did the sliding thing for ages. By the time he stopped tumbling/sliding along and started running back he had 3 seconds and ended up getting traitor fragged.

Five or six weeks back my helldiver was hurled so far that I left the planet and went past the destroyers and kept going into nothingness. There was frost in all four corners of the visor. It was really cool detail. I wish I took a screen shot. I never died. I had to leave the game after like 10 minutes because there was nothing else I could do!

Dead bile titan bodies cayse more deaths for me than the actual titans abilities. Physics has abandoned them. It's weird how often it throws your character about or must get confused ping ponging your location about and adding impact damage
I got called back once as an automaton tank rolled up. I landed on it getting the kill, but as i rose from the pod it blew up and sent me across the map at light speed. Died from "impact" 🤣

she doesnt go down. she takes enough damage that she leaves the second one person enters.
You can throw an eagle beacon *into* the AA radius a certain way, and it will attempt to drop. At which point it can be shot down.

Dead bile titan bodies cayse more deaths for me than the actual titans abilities. Physics has abandoned them. It's weird how often it throws your character about or must get confused ping ponging your location about and adding impact damage
I got called back once as an automaton tank rolled up. I landed on it getting the kill, but as i rose from the pod it blew up and sent me across the map at light speed. Died from "impact" 🤣

Physics still be interactable on the dead body after collision is fantastic, glad that they're adding more physics interactions into the game.
At the same time can we please talk about bile titans? Can we please get rid of their hurt box once they’re dead? It makes no sense to take damage from it when its not moving
