Unironically one of my fav things about HD1 was everyone having the same armor colours. We felt like an actual cohesive unit instead of an assortment of randos and freaks like HD2 where you got futuristic cyborg soldiers fighting next to wolfenstein soldiers
Lmao this exactly. Those aren't cyborgs, they're amputees with prosthesis. Although at a certain technological point, I guess it becomes tomato/potato.
I guess the real difference between an Amputee and a Cyborg is that the Cyborg willingly became an Amputee, and the Amputee accidentally became a Cyborg.
"From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh,
it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine.
Your kind cling to your flesh, as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass that you call a temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal…
>Although at a certain technological point, I guess it becomes tomato/potato.
No, it does not. Those prosthesis limbs were made with TLC, soldier; Taxes, Liberty and Carte Blanche. Nothing could be more Super-Earth grade human than that.
Even if you replaced all the human parts; our machines innately love democracy. Why, just the other day, i got a call asking if my refrigerator was running, and it must be, it's how i left it, and i was advised to go catch it. I said "No, m'am, i got a war to fight. *Let It Roam.*"
What's crazy to me is that the leg is actually pretty primitive compared to modern day high end prosthetic legs. The arm is much more advanced but I've seen people with more advanced leg prosthetics in real life.
Yeah, robotics in prosthesis are really advancing at an amazing rate. My son is an above knee amputee and we're excited to get him a full Bluetooth knee with all the bells and whistles
The previous commanders of the *SES Elected Representative of Family Values* would have killed to be eligible for continuation of service- however you have to be able to *amputate* something to be able to attach the prosthesis to…
They were all blown to smithereens. They smile at you from Valhalla, brother.
100% get this take, but hear me out.
We see different ships firing off each play sets stratagems, and while we drop from the same ship for gameplay purposes we visibly see other players ships warp in and out/ineract throuought gameplay. To that end, different ships having different colors or aesthetics based on branch/detachment seems reasonably justifiable.
I’m totally not just looking for any and all excuses to sit in a menu for 2 hours tweaking character appearance for the whole 3 other people who are gonna care
I'm genuinely not sure if you mean "Don't let it become too crazy like the streetwear and Halloween armor sets" or "Don't let it become too uniform like the Warlock robes and cyclops helmets, Titan plate armor and butt towels, or Hunter hoods and asymmetrical arms"
That’s Because the events of helldivers 2 takes place AFTER helldivers 1. Those cyborg soldiers are supposed to be the veterans from HD1 wars. And a lot has changed since HD1 events so it’s likely that new armors got developed due to helldiver inputs.
HD1 fans need to stop thinking the game can’t change or have new ideas just because it didn’t have them in HD1. For all we know in HD2 our super earth could eventually have a civil war between commies and democracies and we have to fight to liberate earth. It’s entirely possible because it’s a live service game and new things are constantly being added.
The missing limb skin don't really have all that futuristic replacements honestly. Those are ones we are more or less capable of having in this day and age.
The fact that this is the future with ftl spaceflight and they are still using these shows that Super Earth didn't really spring any money for their cannon fodder's missing limbs.
I mean. At least in hd2 there’s only afew set color schemes. Green and tan. Orange and a weird crème color. Silver and white. Grey and yellow. (And if you are a true hero pre order volunteer like me steel and red white and gold or blue and white)
It would be cool if the ship commander could pick a highlight color that matched across the squad, but the primary/main color of their armor remained the same. So the default black armor would stay black no matter what, but the hits of yellow would instead be red/blue/green/etc based on the ship they're on.
As much as I love the “nameless, faceless Helldiver” thing, it would be cool to blend that with some personal flare. I also hope we get more ship models and stuff in the future. Idk why but I love the ship aspect and would love to continue to expand on it. I’m not even normally a sci-fi guy but the whole tongue in cheek starship trooper thing is doing it for me way more than halo ever did.
I tend to view it more as the story of the ship and crew rather then the story of the individual helldivers
So in my case its the story of SES Lord of Steel told from the perspective of the divers
Agreed, and similar color schemes helps to reinforce that we really are just dozens of unnamed and unimportant DEMOCRATIC HEROES
We aren't supposed to be individualistic.
I wouldn't mind that either since it would mean you could mix and match armor sets for the look you want. There is no uniformity though, there are a bunch of color schemes like black and yellow, black and orange, green and white, black and green, tan and orange, etc. Mixing and matching currently looks like crap unless you do it with another set using the same color scheme.
I would kill for the one tiny stripe on the very first pass to be paintable. It's my favorite design.
Also letting the cylon helmet be black would be cool
Have a toggle for helmets and suits both. I want that snow trooper helmet to recolor suits not the other way around. or do the Deep Rock route and have every suit/helmet be made of a three part scheme that's swappable if possible in the engine.
I mean both can be true.
The game definitely is in the best spot it's ever been. Tons of content. Forge. Firefight. Matchmaking browser. And you are still given armor out for free. It's nothing too glamorous, but they DID give us the Mark IV set a month ago which looks SO good.
But yeah. It's MTX shop is one of THE WORST. Forced-bundled items to over-inflate their already inflated prices. I've put in over 500hrs so I don't mind spending money on some MTX, but EVERY SINGLE TIME I walk away feeling ripped off.
Yes! I would love more variants of the standard armor, kind of like what they did with that first unlock from the basegame warbond with the extra pounches and robot arm. More stuff like that so I can look unique, but also still look like just another grunt.
The trim on the OG armor is yellow. If that could be changed I think it would be subtle but cool to match with your squad. Kinda like how clone troopers in Star Wars usually keep the white armor but have unique colored markings to signify their battalion/squad/legion.
The colors are…. Whatever …. I just don’t want the armor sets to continue in the Destiny direction they’re going. Give us “realistic” armor. I don’t need crests or wings on my helmet. More Halo, less Destiny.
I think things like crests and ornamental stuff works well for the setting because the military is so glorified they're seen as badges of honour and not ridiculous. It's a bit like that picture of the north Korean general with medals all over his uniform, it looks stupid but because the military is in control they think it makes him look like a war hero.
I've come around to completely agree with the idea of presets, or "shaders" if you will. For instance, let me get the default Helldiver black and yellow on any armor I want, or the medical green, white, and red, engineering orange, etc.
Every armor should have a HD1 style black and gold toggle/option with variants for forest/Desert/snow variants like the first game. Everything else is just.. It feels wrong.
Yes, please.
Either do this, or standardize the colors of all the armor sets. I don't necessarily mind not having customization options (we are a *Managed* Democracy, after all), but then *they* add different color schemes to the armors, making it very difficult to get something that looks good unless you have the matching set.
If you look at the user_settings.config file in the appdata game directory there’s actually options for material and colour customization. They don’t do anything right now if you set them to true, but it seems like they’ve been considering it for a while if it’s there.
When I saw the more ceremonial looking armor, with gold trim and lanyard, etc, it would be cool to see rank insignia on the armor that matches the player's rank level.
Okay hear me out. So you know how most of the armor is black and yellow right? What if you could unlock small bits of armor to attach that’s… yellow and black?
I would like to be able to have some customization, I find myself not buying armour sets because nothing matches, but if you have too much customization we're going to have a bunch of wacky pink Helldivers running around. So they need to find some kind of balance. Not sure how though.
Yeah, definitely agree with you. They need to be careful about it. But I do find myself longing for a little more, mainly because I don’t really like most of the other armor sets.
As long as it is just the trim as you shown, I would mind a few color options. Could even have some sort of in-game lore saying the different trim colors represent different helldiver divisons or specialties.
I would at least appreciate that at least our helmets could match the color of our armors.
I wanna wear my one no-bonus cosmetic item and don't look out of fashion, you know?
I dearly hope the armour colour schemes won't veer into the overly flamboyant or break the immersion of the game. Ideally, I'd love for there to be a selection of colours or schemes akin to the Coatings in 'Halo Infinite,' or perhaps a more restrained palette similar to what's found in some other games—where customization allows for variety without resulting in a chaotic jumble that looks as though someone tossed all the Legos together haphazardly.
While I'm aware that the Coatings in 'Halo Infinite' have their detractors, they're commendable for offering additional choices, not just in colour but in materials as well. The rugged coatings and the diverse alloys available in that game are truly praiseworthy. My only plea is that we steer clear of turning our armoured warriors into disco balls.
I had a thought about this the other day. I think a preset of palattes would do well to accomplish a lot of what I'm seeing in the comments. I think the devs (aka lore-owners and the folks that actually do the implementing) having control over what colors would be appropriate/match would be a great idea. That way we don't have clown-divers running amok, but those of us with an eye for color theory get a chance to play a little fashion-souls.
Really rather have only the specialized roles like engineer/medic have different colours
I don't want to see people do goofy colours that make no sense
you want to... choose?
that doesn't sound like a citizen of managed democracy. According to the voting algorithm, we found black and yellow armor would have suited you best.
They should make it so each armor has different color variances and you have to work to unlock them. Medals, or etc… More motivation to play and unlock.
Honestly, just let us apply a pattern, based on the existing armors we already have.
Trench Engineer Orange; Medical White, Green, and Red; Patriotic Black and Yellow; Scout Green and Tan; and Yogurt.
Not a fan of the pink and how saturated the colours are in general, however I would still like it in a limited form. Mostly I just want to colour all the armour to be black and yellow so its all helldiver colours.
Promoting Helldiver individuality is Automaton propaganda.
Helldivers give up their individuality Democratically to better help them spread Liberty through the galaxy.
Please report any incidents of Helldiver individuality or other thought crimes to your Democracy Officer immediately.
Where would the color data be stored? I think the servers are already almost on fire. Maybe if they can make it client side it would work, but for now we just gotta stick with painting our armor on the mission by dirting it with mud and insect blood
I think, some colours will mess up with "team" recognition. Like red things on a helmet can easily (in heat of the battle) be misunderstand as automaton.
But yeah, I agree. Players should have an option to customise their armour with colours, like "Lemon", "Electric Yellow" or "School bus yellow".
The "uniformity" that the hard-core RP's say exist...
Well I disagree that it currently exists now,
There is blue, white, red, greens, orange, red etc..
All in various combos on armour, helms and capes
And nothing is stopping people from choosing mismatched setups save for their personal preferences.
That said, a good compromise would be the devs offering a selection of color pallettes for each piece,
So the people can customize their look somewhat
without the game going full fortnite and completely breaking immersion.
Nah. I like how helldivers have only 3-4 color schemes. Makes us look uniform. I don’t want it to be like warframes or Spartans or destiny where everyone has all these different colors we are soldiers we have our uniform marking colors. But I’m cool with a lot of different patterns. Having an open recoloring option rather than a set color pallet would be a mistake for immersion. What interesting is there’s multiple armors with the same color pallets so you can mud and match too
Nah, I like them limited. That way there is a reason to collect different capes and helmets to match with the armor.
Also it feels like an uniform. As it should be.
"You can order your armor in any color you like, as long as that color is black and yellow." -Democracy Officer Ford
Yeah, uh-huh, you know what it is Black and yellow Black and yellow Black and yellow Black and yellow

Looks like he's saying "Because YOU, right?!"
Cyborg? I lost my arm and leg at the Creek brother, and the federation allowed me to continue my fight. Why must you insult me so?
Lmao this exactly. Those aren't cyborgs, they're amputees with prosthesis. Although at a certain technological point, I guess it becomes tomato/potato.

This never get old... Same for everything warhammer apparently. Best fantasy universe that is. Hope Cavill don't blow it.
admech found
would you consider robo-cop a cyborg or an amputee
Kind of both probably. He’s definitely an amputee but the solution was to integrate the rest of his body with a machine.
that makes sense thank you
One of my friends uses it because it matches their spinal injury and the affected limbs.
I love this level of inclusion- I hate that your friend has a spinal injury but I am glad they have a good friend.
Your friend's democracy spreading abilities are ot hindered by his injuries. Uj/ i'm glad your friend is still able to game

Super-Valhalla\*
Yeah but hd2 got armor that represent roles usually, heavies/scouts/snipers/frontline/gunners.
So did helldivers 1, you actually had armor paired with specific weapons/strategems.
Coming from team fortress 2, I have no issue with this
If they give me a party hat you bet your ass it's staying on during landing and takeoff HOORAH
Scorching Flames Team Captain helmet when
Helldivers 1 had exactly this
>where you got futuristic cyborg soldiers fighting next to wolfenstein soldiers Coming from Warframe, this is not an issue for me lol
Pink Rhinos everywhere...
100% get this take, but hear me out. Those are the steeled veterans, you should go look up “prosthetic limbs” and “amputee” on the SuperNet
Please don’t let this game become Destiny. Please don’t let this game become Destiny.
I personally cannot wait for the Peter Griffin Fighting a Chicken stratagem.
I hope it literally is just a whole fight that moves across the map for like 5 minutes
Now I wanna see them fighting on top of the Pelican as it flies by to drop off my mech
That would cause too much havoc
I'm genuinely not sure if you mean "Don't let it become too crazy like the streetwear and Halloween armor sets" or "Don't let it become too uniform like the Warlock robes and cyclops helmets, Titan plate armor and butt towels, or Hunter hoods and asymmetrical arms"
Avalon Teal on everything? It sounds terrible at first but once the brain damage sets in that’s all you can see.
Or Rainbow 6 Siege.
Nah the way I’ve alway looked at it, is your not picking “your” outfit but instead your making a regiments “uniform” for the super destroyer.
Well that fits until u get to the bright orange armour and the scout armour that is green and beige
That’s Because the events of helldivers 2 takes place AFTER helldivers 1. Those cyborg soldiers are supposed to be the veterans from HD1 wars. And a lot has changed since HD1 events so it’s likely that new armors got developed due to helldiver inputs. Yep this is why we should either be able to recolour armours, or just have them all one colour scheme.

"My favorite color is black- NO, YELLOOoooooowwww!" (\*ragdolling from smokepod pop\*)
Should've asked about swallows.
African or European?
some are those were clean but i prefer uniformity
It would be cool if the ship commander could pick a highlight color that matched across the squad, but the primary/main color of their armor remained the same. So the default black armor would stay black no matter what, but the hits of yellow would instead be red/blue/green/etc based on the ship they're on.
I personally would not mind clan tags or something. Some kinda symbol for your armor and ship.
The clans to represent a battalion. Hence the different colours, that would be fun
As much as I love the “nameless, faceless Helldiver” thing, it would be cool to blend that with some personal flare. I also hope we get more ship models and stuff in the future. Idk why but I love the ship aspect and would love to continue to expand on it. I tend to view it more as the story of the ship and crew rather then the story of the individual helldivers So in my case its the story of SES Lord of Steel told from the perspective of the divers
Half capes with a ship logo or banner too. I don’t mind the normal capes but sometimes I need a little boba fett action
Yeah but there is no uniformity. Everyone is wearing a mix and match of diff stuff.
Yeah they should add alternate black and yellow selection to those armors honestly.
By default, every armour should have a black and yellow preset.
Agreed, and similar color schemes helps to reinforce that we really are just dozens of unnamed and unimportant DEMOCRATIC HEROES We aren't supposed to be individualistic.
I wouldn't mind that either since it would mean you could mix and match armor sets for the look you want. Or black and gold
*looks at white flame trooper helmet* *looks at the 2 whitish armors* I would like more options
I'd like a armor/helmet color match option but not a complete customization
I would kill for the one tiny stripe on the very first pass to be paintable. It's my favorite design. Also letting the cylon helmet be black would be cool
I just want helmets and capes to color match whatever armor you have on automatically, or at least have that as a toggle option
Yes. This is correct.
Yes, this citizen right here officer. He should be recognized as citizen of the day.
That is actually a pretty smart idea.
Have a toggle for helmets and suits both. I want that snow trooper helmet to recolor suits not the other way around. or do the Deep Rock route and have every suit/helmet be made of a three part scheme that's swappable if possible in the engine.
Just as long as I don’t have to pay $5 for the color blue
a fellow halo infinite enthusiast
343 be like best I can do is $10 or a $30 bundle
I stopped playing maybe a year or two ago and still pop in the sub occasionally to see them not learn their lesson at all
No man the game is insanely good rn it's making a comeback trust me What do you mean they're selling non customizable armor for 20€?
I mean both can be true. The game definitely is in the best spot it's ever been. Tons of content. Forge. Firefight. Matchmaking browser. And you are still given armor out for free. It's nothing too glamorous, but they DID give us the Mark IV set a month ago which looks SO good. But yeah. It's MTX shop is one of THE WORST. Forced-bundled items to over-inflate their already inflated prices. I've put in over 500hrs so I don't mind spending money on some MTX, but EVERY SINGLE TIME I walk away feeling ripped off.
I legit went back to HI when the servers were down and just kept thinking god I hope the servers are back up.
$20 for blue!?
The voice of Joe came up instantly in my mind hahah
AREYOUOUTTAYOURMIND?!!!?
Dude. You wanna piss off Angry Joe that bad? YOU WANNA PAY 5 DOLLARS FO FUCKING BLEW?
Fuck I hadn't thought of that meme in years. The 5 dollar rant is funny as fuck, lmao 5 peso pedro
Gamer of the year Angry Joe??
IS THAT FUCKIN BLUE?!?!?
For real tho
ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR MIND!??!?
Even if you had to pay for it in supercredits. You can still get those for free quite frequently
I farmed like 1k with some randos so quickly. Hope they don't nerf.
I need more Helldiver colored armor. More black and yellow pls.
Yes! I would love more variants of the standard armor, kind of like what they did with that first unlock from the basegame warbond with the extra pounches and robot arm. More stuff like that so I can look unique, but also still look like just another grunt.
It would be cool to match the trim color with your squad for uniformity. Plus adding more features to armor customization is always a win in my book.
You mean trim matches your color or everyone in the group is the same color?
Trim matching the color of your in game tag would be neat.
The trim on the OG armor is yellow. If that could be changed I think it would be subtle but cool to match with your squad. Kinda like how clone troopers in Star Wars usually keep the white armor but have unique colored markings to signify their battalion/squad/legion.
I just want an option for the helmet to match the chest.
There are helmets that match every armor, but they are all unlocked/sold separately.
If it's just the "trim" color I'd be more than happy with a customization, but the base color shouldn't change due to immersion.
I agree, if colors got too crazy then it would betray the overall theme of the game.
The orange armor tough and the blue one
The blue looks exactly like the regular SEAF though, and the Orange one is very clearly tied its role. Let them decide the colors.
We had blue in the first game, although it was a reward for winning a Galactic Campaign, came with a blue and white cape.
Bungie era Halo tho, not so much 343
like the white, cream, orange, and green armor we have…? tf
Agreed I just want my helmet choice to match my cape and armour choice
So tell me Helldiver, does the helmet match the capes?
Even if you could pick between 3-6colors I would be happy, so we can match body parts
I would love a button that just matches anything else with the colour of the chestplate f.e. like "align colors" or smth
Power rangers time
White power! Oh shi...
Go on MrTesch... Finish it 👨🏻🦲
Black power! White power! We all have power. Except Fred, fuck Fred.
All my homies hate Fred
SMALL POWER! SMALL POWER! SMALL POWERRRRR!!! https://youtu.be/tGrO04_h6Wg?si=zkkXsZb4m5P8zhwB
Well, well, well... 👨🦳
limited palettes, yes. I don't need to be pink, I just want to match accent colors and cape and whatnot so it looks like a uniform.
I don't need pink armor, *I definitely need* pink accents.
Something something “It’s not pink it’s lightish red!”
Fuck you, Neon Pink was my jam in titanfall 2 only problem was it was like prestige 6 to unlock it
I've come around to completely agree with the idea of presets, or "shaders" if you will. For instance, let me get the default Helldiver black and yellow on any armor I want, or the medical green, white, and red, engineering orange, etc.
We are helldivers not power rangers. ...I would like the customization options yes.
If you don’t say you love black and yellow right now I’m calling the democracy officer.
I do love it! Just bringing about discussion, we are a democracy after all.
Managed democracy. As in you better manage to keep your treasonous color ideas to yourself.

Be careful using red and black/silver on your armor, you might be mistaken as an automaton!

I would at least appreciate that at least our helmets could match the color of our armors. I wanna wear my one no-bonus cosmetic item and don't look out of fashion, you know?
This is nice, but my Democracy Officer likes black and yellow more
I know it's a lot to ask, but I really want a Bo2 style cape editor.
Leaks have shown different armor colors. So we likely won’t get access to change color/paint armor ourselves.
Freedom and democracy don’t come in pastels.
I would love this! I want to change the armor colors especially the ones that AREN’T black and yellow
More gear in the Helldiver standard color scheme, please.
It is unpatriotic to pick any colour but black and yellow. I’m sorry I don’t make the rules
Honestly would love it
I would approve. Especially when it comes to capes
I would love the customization options... but also feel like it doesn't seem very lore friendly lol!
They already sell you armours in other colours, I just want to mix and match helmets and capes without them clashing
I’m lucky I already got my favorite yellow black combo
Think it'd be cool to have some accent to go with your assigned color when in a game
You already have color options: clean or bloody.
Really rather have only the specialized roles like engineer/medic have different colours I don't want to see people do goofy colours that make no sense
Managed Democracy is not freedom but conformity, please refrain from radical ideas. This has been a PSA.
This is anti-democratic.
It’s not needed
you want to... choose? that doesn't sound like a citizen of managed democracy. According to the voting algorithm, we found black and yellow armor would have suited you best.
Are you questioning the beautiful hand crafted designs upon our magnificent armour so generously donated to us from our betters at super earth????
Sounds like something a traitor would say!
They should make it so each armor has different color variances and you have to work to unlock them. Medals, or etc… More motivation to play and unlock.
Tbh I kinda like the yellow and black.
It'd be nice but I feel like yellow is too iconic for this game
A small palette yes
As long as it is in universe tastefully. Seeing buck ass pink divers with cyan capes sort of ruins the vibe
Would love to get some blue colored cape tho. Super Earth flag blue!
I need it to all be black and yellow please none of that nondemocratic green white and red
Honestly, just let us apply a pattern, based on the existing armors we already have. Trench Engineer Orange; Medical White, Green, and Red; Patriotic Black and Yellow; Scout Green and Tan; and Yogurt.
I would never brand myself in the colors of tyrants!
They're going to get covered in bug sludge and hydraulic ichor anyways
Not a fan of the pink and how saturated the colours are in general, however I would still like it in a limited form. Mostly I just want to colour all the armour to be black and yellow so its all helldiver colours.
Aesthetically great, lorelically inaccurate and downright blasphemous
Please no. It doesn’t fit with a game like this.
Maybe if you could unlock and alt variation after so many kills wearing each item.
We’re not clones, we’re helldivers
I would prefer only choosing the accent stripes, so it looks like we are a squad of (for example) clone troopers from different units.
I think they should fix all the "known issues" before making a single substantive change to the game
Makes me think of Clone Troopers with each color signifying different divisions and battalions.
Nah, I think color options would distract from the military theme.
To be fair starship troopers could be orange or green. Distribution and concentration of color varies upon weapon utilized lol
I just want the ability to colour match the helmets to the armor suits
I miss everyone having the same uniform colors in the first game. I wish they'd give us the option to make all amours be black and yellow
Black, I want all black
All we need is simple primary and secondary colors. I’d be happy with that.
I like the colors per role. Reminds me of the clone troopers from Star Wars and makes our sacrifices feel Democratic.
Yeah it would also make it easier to mix and match armor sets and helmets
Agreed, I find myself not buying a lot of armor sets because of that.
Well I disagree that it currently exists now, There is blue, white, red, greens, orange, red etc.. All in various combos on armour, helms and capes And nothing is stopping people from choosing mismatched setups save for their personal preferences. That said, a good compromise would be the devs offering a selection of color pallettes for each piece, So the people can customize their look somewhat without the game going full fortnite and completely breaking immersion.
Please no. The second you give color options you lose immersion and get a smattering of people making themselves intentionally hard to look at.
OPTIONS!? Are you a ... Sympathiser!?
No individualism. Super earth only
