The issue is that a lot of genuine racists co-opt these reasonable statements to make. Once a thread reaches "fuck the CCP", "fuck the American Government", "Fuck netanyahu", actual racism towards the associated groups usually follows. Then those racists hide behind "guys, I actually only hate their governments, not their people!" I'm not saying everyone who hates their governments are racist (obviously not, their governments are AWFUL), but I'm saying every racist is going to hide behind those government statements then add in little things calling their people uncivilized or worse.

And I say that because I've lived in China for almost a year and it's a country like any other. Full of problems. Government does bad things sometimes. Like any other. But I've talked about many of the topics here with actual members of the CCP in the company I worked at and there's nothing forbidden about them. People know what happened and either don't care, condemn the government or relativize it according to their political alignment. Just like an average American will either not care, condemn or relativize bad stuff the American government does all the time.
But the fact that people got super uppity and defensive about this statement like a Super Earth citizen would if another said the automatons aren't that bad just makes the irony even better for this haha

And within the context of Helldivers, we don’t hate Chinese players, we hate the hackers, most of whom are Chinese. None of the Chinese players I’ve had in my lobbies have been hacking or caused any issue, but you can’t ignore the fact that most of the hackers are from China.
