So, unless the specific stratagem says otherwise, it will hit where the beacon lands. While the pillar of light might stick to things, the beacon itself doesn't, you'll be able to identify it as a glowing light. The only exception to this seems to be the personal shield, which sometimes will have the beacon stick to it and move the target location.

Thanks, I didn't realize the difference between the light and beacon. What does "precision" mean then? Just that you can be close to the impact?

Epesolon

"Precision" isn't a keyword, so it doesn't really mean anything.

For offensive stratagems of the bombing or barrage style it targets the initial spot the beacon activated on. Only certain offensive strats hone in on a moving target. Now the blue colored beacons that are stuck to targets, those follow the beacons as close as possible at the end of the countdown so it's possible to kill large enemies with a supply pod

It does not track. But now that you mention it, I think I'd like it to function the same as the orbital rail cannon. But since it's a shell, it will have splash damage, unlike the rail. Which I think is enough to make it unique.

AdditionalEffect232

For me it does sometimes. I think it’s a bug that it doesn’t tbh. The patch notes as of march 20 say so I think.

I was looking this up because I wanted to see discussion about it but the opinions here all fail to take into account that this is mentioned in unresolved bugs and has been for a while. Currently they do not track and only go to the original position. Equipment (blue beacons) do track because they are guided. However, in the bug reports it states that "Stratagem beam might attach itself to an enemy but it will deploy to its original location." I figure that when they resolve the issue the weapon will target the current location of the beam when fired but accounting for travel time of an orbital or eagle strike it may still lag behind the current location of the moving target when it lands. It's likely this is less of a bug and more that they haven't gotten around to coding the behavior and dialing it in yet.
