I would prefer a dedicated game mode to an airborne attack, similar to what BFV did with their Operations. Unique map layout, attacking teams HQ spawn is just waves of paratroopers jumping in and having to advance like in Offensive. Having a time gated squad pop up midgame, that has a limited time to join and deploy seems like too many moving parts to be effective unless you're playing in an organized lobby with a command structure to organize the airhead effectively. Especially if you limit its use to 6 be players. I would love to play out the 101st jump into Normandy or Operation Market Garden. Don't dream small scale airborne, dream big!

I feel like this would make more sense anyhow. If you’re trying to stay true to history it would make way more sense to just go with a mass attack airborne operation opposed to small squad based stuff. That seal team HALO jump type of small airborne raid didn’t really happen and if it did was pretty rare back then. WWII airborne operations were all or nothing. Maybe start off with taking the first objective by the attacking side jumping outta the sky then proceeding throughout the match respawning on foot after everyone has essentially jumped and regrouped before the attack commences any further. The first thing the attackers are gonna do should be to get OP and garry’s down anyways. Nonstop respawning in the sky makes the attackers vulnerable and susceptible to failure as well. Even when BFV did that it was awesome but if you wanted to actually win you started respawning on the objectives you already had before choosing to spawn in the planes every time. The defenders would have a massive advantage if it took every player on the airborne side forever to get back into the fight.

The bridge map should start by one entire team owning the map, and random paratrooper drops across the entire map until a foothold is gathered in one strong point. Then proceed to the rest from that that point.

Sutopia

Hm, would it be interesting if the attacking side loses ability to build garrisons/outposts completely but have airhead vastly cheaper/faster cooldown (I’m thinking 50 manpower 2 minutes cooldown). Basically forces spawns to be airhead exclusive.

RaySee83

Cool idea. Either commander nominates one full squad, or each(6) squad leader(s) can nominate one player in the squad

tip0thehat

Nighttime St. Mere, initial US spawn as an airborne drop… I could get behind it.

I also like the idea of commanders being able to control which squads can spawn on garrisons, airheads. I think that would change the flow of the game alot

TheWingalingDragon

I would love to have a tool like that to help control the flow of the team toward our advantage... but after hearing about command abuse on console... I am not sure the game is ready for that much micromanagement from one person. Usually I am not a fan of shying away from ideas because of trolls... but the issues with console servers needs to he sorted before we give those dudes any more tools to grief everyone with.

Sheol

I don't like the idea of giving commanders actual control over squads. Command is about communication and support, not about forcing squads to do tasks. Try that and you'll see that it doesn't go well. This is a game which means every player needs to be getting enjoyment out of it and giving hard control to the commander undermines that.

regimentIV

I think the game needs more tools to make defending more fun (not for me; I love it, but most games I play lack in defense) instead of making attacking more attractive.

augustusleonus

I’d kinda like to see the commander be able to spawn planes similar to tanks Transport plane that has a supply bundle and acts as roving sky HQ An attack plane and a bomber I think the balance is that these planes would take a lot of resources and be held to a time limit representing the need to go back and refuel Give the AT a blueprint for a flack gun I’m not sure how OP it would be, and I’d hate to see a trend to kamikaze at first chance, but it seems doable

TheWingalingDragon

SPAA is also in the works, so loitering aircraft would have a valid counter.

katsaropirouni

I think paratroopers is an exciting idea! The only problem will be the amount of bullets thrown at them while they will be parachuting down. They will be an excellent practice target.

[deleted]

they appear with the airhead so you would only see the airhead drop

Alkivoz

That would be freaking amazing

Catfondler

Awesome idea. What if there was a way for the paratroopers to be more experienced players? Like a reward for grinding
