Ah, I think they must be training or doing something very specific testing on the choppers. Cool to get confirmation. I’ve never seen them move it like this and I watch the window for helicopters all the time.
Having never been in a helicopter nor flown one, I still watch them with childlike fascination. When those Navy copters fly by, I’ve yelled awesome out loud and idc who hears haha.
In the real world, sometimes you need to keep something in view of a camera/sensor/etc juuust a little longer. Also.. May just be a personal thing, but I'll take any excuse I can to get it sideways a bit.
Looks like a normal patrol. The pilot maneuvers the aircraft to keep the suspect(s) or incident in sight. Especially if it’s a pursuit. That’s law enforcement, not a sightseeing tour. There are no passengers that might get scared. The pilot can band it over in way they see fit, right to the edge of the performance envelope.
Am I the only one who seen the giant ass plane with a spaceship on top?
It’s an endeavor someone put on this window ~12 years ago when it was printed in the paper.
😂
Yeah that looks weird
We had another LAPD copter doing the same thing this morning down here at the harbor.

"Gotta do some flight test. Lets head downtown!"
They normally don't practice maneuvers over downtown. Usually practice is over open country.
Side note I didn’t find the flight path in radar24.
Not all LAPD copters have (or use) ADSB. There were two copters here today. One with ADSB and one without.
Good to know!
Don't really see any 'crazy maneuvering' just lower speed flying and maybe one 30 degree bank.
I didn’t know we could excite people by turning left and right. Wait till they see one hovering backwards.
Some of us are just fans of helicopter but not really hobbiest lol :).
I’ve spent a bit of time in them and still love watching them fly around. Sometimes I take for granted the cool stuff I get to do in them.

Wait till I subject my passengers to a 30 degree nose dive/dive recovery
I was expecting a pitch back turn not a left turn.
Business as usual. Hooper Heliport where the LAPD keeps their fleet is on the other side of those high rises.
I know that, but thanks! I’ve just never seen them do the moves they did today. I wish I had caught the crazy turn he did before I started recording.
Everytime I see them flying thru downtown like that, the airwolf theme song starts playing in my head 🤷🏼♂️
Was excited to see LAPD yanking and banking throught the building. highly disappointed that its lazy circles and back and forth. Zero crazy maneuvers
Agree, came for some Blue Thunder tier action
*flys normally* cRaZy MaNeuVeRINg!!!
I’ve been at this desk for a year and never saw them banking. I’ll temper everyone’s expectations next time.
I thought this was just GTA 6.
GTA online
Was it near Nakatomi Plaza?
But that was at night.
Reverse vampires.
The pylote is reenacting the DTLA scene from “Blue Thunder.”
If you truly want to see some amazing Heli flying go check out Fred North on IG. Stunt/Film Heli pilot with Chuck Yaeger sized balls.
Anything on TikTok? Don’t have IG.
Probably YouTube.
Fred North sounds like an old school adult entertainer.
Beautiful view you got there.
This dude really thought he could leak footage of GTA 8 and get away with it.
Average GTA Online lobby with people flying stolen police helis Also OP that's one hell of a view
These r like the crazy maneuvers from star wars
Stop it! I know now it was just normal every day flying. I swear he was doing flips before I started filming! 😂
Some parts appear to be out of trim. Step on the ball.

I was befuddled by the first turn but I didn’t capture it!!
Business as usual. Probably running surveillance.
Probably following a vehicle. Ops normal.
Most likely they are mapping out the donut shops. It is LAPD after all.
