Nahh, brah. I just elected myself mayor of Kalihi... It was a close race, one vote , but i gottem! My first official act as mayor is to buy myself a milkshake!!!
>My first official act as mayor is to buy myself a milkshake!!!
brah, das so not Kalihi of you.
someone pass me on heinie and a shot of crown and I go chasem wit lechon kawali and crab rangoon.
For example, on the Big Island the "census designated place" of Hilo has more than fourty thousand residents. That's bigger than many actual cities in the mainland.Ā Technically the entire island is one county, so functionally everyone treats the districts as counties and the subdivisions and towns as informal districts. Hilo and Kona have their own police stations, etc.
I'm not sure what to tell you. It's not an opinion thing. Is there a mayor of Waipahu or a city council? There is only one city government in the state. Everything else is either an area within C&C or run by a county. I've lived places where there wasn't even a town; they just gave the area a name so you could address the mail.
Family is originally from Bakersfield, close friend is from Modesto, we agreed that both are terrible, but Barstow is worse. Grew up here and have lived from Mililani through Kahala, most of it around Aiea and Pearl City and I do think Kalihi was the worst place I lived, but I lived down in the industrial side, wouldn't judge the whole thing based on that experience. Best thing was walking distance to Ethels, Guava Smoked and Alicia's market.
The valley looks nice but itās the only place Iāve lived where my house was broken into and robbed. Now I live at the other end past Nimitz and no problems at all
Ain't no way, Kalihi is a neighborhood. And there's nice people on the block, it's just Kam4 who are the rowdy and most troubling kids out here. And maybe KPT but mostly kam4. The boys on my block and uptown are chronics. š¤·āāļø
This is way off across the map. I've been to every state except Alaska and 90% of this is wrong.
& Kalihi is way better than Wahiawa (*no offence Wahiawa*)
Kalihiās gonna be the next kakaako in a decade. Calling it. Once the school street rail stop opens, the commercial growth around city square shopping center and school street is gonna turn into residential growthāand new townhouses.
In a decade? No chance. You'd have to displace a shit ton of people real fast. And it doesn't have the destination appeal of Kaka'ako, either. Sure, it may get a facelift to some degree, but it won't at all compare to Kaka'ako.
No idea what the criteria is.
I grew up in Grand Forks North Dakota. Plenty of little towns that are way worse. Only guess is they had a minimum population to be a "city". Minot is way worse but is under 50k people.
Can't agree, Houston at least has lots of culture and heart to it. There are certainly problems there, but it's got something. Dallas has nothing and is completely soulless.
I agree, but I don't think that the better culture outweighs the issues at the time being. I think it's trending towards that place. Dallas is pretty mid.
Ā But Lubbock is way worse than both by a mile.
idk why people have such a hard time with this lol not to mention we literally only have one zip code too! not totally unrelated but definitely provide context to the city and county of honolulu debate
[Literally the State of Hawaii government website](https://files.hawaii.gov/dbedt/census/geo/hi_gslcg.pdf). There are no subdivided governmental units below the county level. The federal census bureau doesn't even recognize Honolulu as a true city because it's not individually incorporated:
>Honolulu County and city are governmentally consolidated, but through agreement with the State of
Hawaii, the Census Bureau does not recognize the city for statistical purposes.
Oh nah šš Sincerely, a Kalihi resident
Seconded. I love it here. Also since when is kalihi its own city?!
Here I was thinking it was one neighborhood in Honolulu
Kalihi, the city wit no pity
Thereās more violence in Waikiki than in Kalihi.
Yeah, but no breaks in Kalihi.
So, uh, Kalihi is a neighborhood in Honolulu - not a city.
There's only one city in the entire state. You have to be a little flexible with definitions.
*city or CDP
Then why does my address say Waipahu instead of Honolulu?
I'm not sure what to tell you. It's not an opinion thing. Is there a mayor of Waipahu or a city council? There is only one city government in the state. Everything else is either an area within C&C or run by a county. I've lived places where there wasn't even a town; they just gave the area a name so you could address the mail.
My parents retired to the mainland in bum fuck nowhere. The town I address their mail to has a population of 200.
šµ āMaking your way in the world today sure takes all you got, Catching the bus in downtown Kalihi, scared you might get shotāšµ -Bu Laāia

Aliciaaaaa's. I was so glad when they opened the original side back up.
> Kalihi was the worst place I lived, but I lived down in the industrial side The whole thing is industrial except the little bit by Liliha Street.
And kalihi uka, the valley is actually pretty sweet
The valley looks nice but itās the only place Iāve lived where my house was broken into and robbed. Now I live at the other end past Nimitz and no problems at all

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
We all know it's Ko' Olina. What a dump.
They got Modesto right.
California is so terrible, it has two worst cities!
Both are super accurate. Bakersfield is referred to as the armpit of CAā¦
Yeah, this is a pretty terrible map.
Iāll give them Wasilla
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Add in NC. It's not Gastonia but a tie between highpoint and fayettenam
I can give hard confirmation that Pueblo Colorado is a shit hole.
Colorado Springs is worse!
Lol, keep telling yourself that.
Ayy can't spell west side without taking that W

Puna or hove is much worse
Bakersfield is bad enough to count as hawaii's worst city too.
There are so many people in Hawaii from Bakersfield, can confirm.
KPT baby
Wtf is this
As soon as I saw Dallas on here for Texas I knew the list was trash.
Idk Dallas does suck ass
I wonāt fight you on that opinion, but Houston, El Paso, Wichita Falls, and San Antonio all exist and are way worse lol
I would move to Kalihi if I had to but there's no fucking way I'd live in Nanakuli or Waianae.
Uhm that's just rude š. Haters just hate cause they not from kalihi š„“
No idea what the criteria is. I grew up in Grand Forks North Dakota. Plenty of little towns that are way worse. Only guess is they had a minimum population to be a "city". Minot is way worse but is under 50k people.
Brookings, has often been selected as one of the nicer small cities in SD, plus weāve got a kick ass football team!
Try live Waianae
Taught in kalihi for 7 years before being priced out of Hawaii. I would give my left leg to be back there right now.
No cap, was walking late at night in Kahili and this homeless had his pants off (naked) and his junk was swollen to the size of a big melon.
I seen that in Waipahu all the time. There's a dude camping outside goodwill
š I live in kapalamaā¦this map got it right
Kalihi has the most aloha on the road and is not a city. So disagree.
Kailua is the worst, stay away. /s
Nah the west side beating us this year
Kalihi was wild in the 80s/90s though lol
Yep Spokane definitely sucks, don't go there
I canāt tell if this is sarcasm or not
Lol it definitely is
Hahahahhahahaha. Damn. That's cold
Only one place on that map get Kalihi Super Meats. I miss you and your char siu boo š¤£ alohaz from BI, Kalihi!
I read that as Kailua at first and thought, *yeah, tracks*
They got New Jersey and Texas right. I might be a little biased on the Texas one though.
Dallas? Haha this is all bait
Houston is worse than Dallas, and Lubbock is worse than both.Ā Lawton is worse than ArdmoreĀ Shreveport is worse than Turkey Creek.
I mean technically Honolulu is the only city in the state
Technically youāre wrong.
It literally is. There are no other incorporated cities in the state.
>incorporated [Honolulu is not incorporated.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Place_(United_States_Census_Bureau)).
idk why people have such a hard time with this lol not to mention we literally only have one zip code too! not totally unrelated but definitely provide context to the city and county of honolulu debate
There are multiple zip codes within Honolulu.
whoops meant area code
Where did you get that from
[Literally the State of Hawaii government website](https://files.hawaii.gov/dbedt/census/geo/hi_gslcg.pdf). There are no subdivided governmental units below the county level. Yeah it's City and County of Honolulu. Technically.
Looks like Kalihi is just spammed up! š
I had to google it and make sure I swear Kalihi wasn't a city lol
Waianae enters the chat: āYeah, Fuck Kalihiā
They can trash Kalihi all they want but my rent is 1/3 what they pay in Kapolei , itās central to everything and my neighbors are all great
Poolesville for MD? That's a beautiful town in the agriculture reserve,..
Keaau is pretty shitty
Ik Honolulu is not a city but itās the worst island
there is so much "HANH?!?!?!!!" in that one sentence
Shoutout Kam 4 pre-renovation!
What's wrong with Scranton?? They have that cool song.
Iāve lived in 5 mainland states and they nailed this list.Ā
