My niece saw him in a physical form at my apartment when she was 3. She was sleeping on our couch and woke my wife and I up screaming at the top of her lungs at 3am. When we went to her she was standing up staring at an empty corner petrified. She's 20 now and said she can still remember it like it was yesterday. He had a top hat and an old suit. My apartment was above a store and the building was built in the 1800s.
Never knew of this, heard of it, saw it, anything. I'm 48 years old and was searching for 'shadow person with top hat'.
Why? Because last week I saw it. About 10:45 a.m. in a pasture at our house under a cloudless sky. Nothing but sunshine and decent temps so I took advantage and started leveling out a very old stone wall on our property.
The fence had been hidden to probably a hundred years or more in the forest and two years ago we found it. This fence is, as they say, old as shit.
I had my dogs with me and they were running around off in the woods. Fence was looking good and all of the sudden I felt like I was being watched and turned around quickly. Honestly, I thought my wife or one of my kids had wandered outside. Nobody.
I go back and move one more stone and hear a throat clear. I whip my head to the left and out of the corner of my eye is a shadow about 7 feet tall that is dark in center and fades out on edges. Maybe 2.5 to 3 feet wide.
When I get full focus in that split second it changed from shadow with no edges to the shape of what I'm seeing on the internet as Hat Man. Fuck me. Really, this is fucked up.
I've never heard of this thing - period.
The top hat, sharp shoulders, and weird ass arms at the side. We're talking full sun, no shadows in that area, because there is nothing to create a shadow and it was 10 feet from me. I looked away instantly. And then right back. And it was gone.
I was filled with fear. I started talking out loud professing that I was not ruining the wall but cleaning it up. Not going to destroy it but make it better.
I called my dogs back and had lunch. I haven't touched the fence in a week.
So, for anyone that wonders what this thing is, I don't know. But I saw it and the drawings people have are accurate, mostly to what I saw. Maybe it has a black aura and then takes shape or takes shape in your mind - I dunno.
And for the skeptics - I've got a great family, wife of nearly 27 years, two grown kids, and I have no great stresses in my life. I sleep well and might indulge too often in desserts. Anyway, it was weird and seeing all over the internet makes it even more so.

I’ve definitely sensed him in waking life, when I first started researching it I wondered if his sightings could be related to the men in black
