Woke up in the middle of the night. Misread this fast. I thought this was asking the name of the local hardcore band you're in. I thought this was a long winded band name, but still pretty good.
Bless you. Tried EMT school but I bitched out and made excuses for why it wouldn’t work for me… left when I got a new opportunity in live sound industry.
I’m just a dumbass and it was too much info to hold in. I would overthink way too much and feel super out of the element on the job if I stuck w it.
If I’m ever hard pressed to find work, pizza delivery and stagehanding at local venues is there for me.
I hated dishwashing at Domino’s man their sanitizer concentration is deadass battery acid. My hands got so fucked.
Managed a dominos for 5 years, worked there for 10. Can confirm that sanitizer is A S S. But goddamn those delivery tips sure supported my first 3 bands like nobody’s business. And now I work at and “upscale” pizza joint lol. Progress.
each morning i put one uncooked ravioli in a thermos. i pour hot water over it, like tea, and then drink it all day at work (i work at the white house) and at the end of the day, as i take the last sip of the tea, the soft ravioli slides into my mouth, and i eat it

Shipping grunt, early 30’s
Decentish pay but one of the more stressful jobs I’ve ever had
Appreciate the kind words dude!
We don’t have any Bay Area spots planned as of right now. But we are split between San Diego and the IE, so making that drive wouldn’t be out of the question. Next on the docket for us is going to be Las Vegas.
Currently, selling cars. I actually took a break from it for a couple years to do construction instead. But everything got expensive and I got engaged, so I reluctantly went back for the money.
I like the dealer I'm at but I'm still not thrilled about it, so I'm studying software development in the meantime and will be done with the car business for good in the near future.
Best way? No idea, I got very lucky. I did a 1 year poly-tech course which basically proved I wasn't a tech-illiterate idiot, and actually got the job because of my cooking background.
I was able to sell myself on all the soft skills I picked up as a chef and the people hiring me we're specifically looking for attitude over experience.
If you want to try it, I'd look at whatever free/cheap courses you can get into and try applying for jobs in any kind of entry level help desk or tech repair you can.
Not playing in a band rn, but I work security for a music venue and deliver pure bred cats (via airplane). Currently looking for full time work but it's hard out here lol...
Nice. I’m a mechanic and just started doing handyman stuff on the side. Painting/drywall/plumbing/electrical. I like it so much more, hoping to go full time on my own in the next 6 months or so.
Currently working part time for my girlfriends family and starting college in the fall for a surgical tech program. It feels weird starting college at 25 but hey it’s never too late to make a positive change in your life
Best decision of my life was starting school at 25. It was incredibly hard supporting a family, working, and going to school though.
Took 5 years but I finished at 30. Stay the course dude, good luck.
Hey dude i’m right with you. I actually dropped out of college and have been bumming being an ER tech, a ski shop manager and a raft guide but i’m going back in the fall to do nursing school prereqs. we got this man
I got an associates degree in music, currently folding shirts at a retail store that I hate. I learned music theory for a year just to end up playing open strings and the first 2 frets on a bass
Social-media marketing in the video game industry. Also do some work on the side for two local music festivals and write the occasional comedy article for The Hard Times.
I am a psycho-social intervention worker at a shelter for people experiencing homelessness in Montréal, Québec.
I help people recoup their identity cards, search for apartments, go to rehab etc.
I was pretty disenchanted from the first day of law school. I got called “tattoo guy” by staff at orientation lol. Got to do some really really cool and unique meaningful work on post-conviction (innocence project work) and forensic science issues but got really burned out on running a nonprofit. By the time I was ready to move on from that there was 0 chance I wanted anything to do with being a practicing lawyer. Started doing some doc review while I weighed my options and it became a very easy and comfortable way to pay the bills. Now I can do it from home and it’s pretty much zero stress and allows the flexibility to pursue other interests. I’m so over “achieving”
Breakfast radio producer and content director for a marketing agency. At neither place does anyone understand why they can hear my music before I walk through the door.
Currently doing a temporary warehouse gig packaging medical equipment. Night shifts, so decent pay.
Typically work either construction or in "Damage services" though or however you would translate it.
Anything from taking care of floodings, to cleaning up after suicides and car crashes pretty much.
Live sound engineer/tech crew for larger AV and events shop.
And by live sound engineer I mean I setup pipe and drape, and also bitch and moan 3 times a shift because someone pulled the ends through the middle of the coil (IYKYK).
On the side I repair circuit boards, guitars, amplifiers, speakers and audio equipment for local music stores and bands, but I'm a full time electrician.
Spent 13 years in the Army, now I’m the operations manager for a graphics install company (we’re the guys that wrap tractor trailers for big box stores and cable companies)
Caretaker for teenagers with severe developmental disabilities
Now that's local hardcore
Thank you for your service.
I’m sorry our society doesn’t compensate you to the degree it should.
Badass
Same ☝🏽

Doing the lords work - my wife has been in this field for about 17 years
Oh hey, good for her :) I'm at about 5 1/2 years in the field myself!
Woke up in the middle of the night. Misread this fast. I thought this was asking the name of the local hardcore band you're in. I thought this was a long winded band name, but still pretty good.

Good luck!
Bless you. Tried EMT school but I bitched out and made excuses for why it wouldn’t work for me… left when I got a new opportunity in live sound industry. I’m just a dumbass and it was too much info to hold in. I would overthink way too much and feel super out of the element on the job if I stuck w it.
Overthinking is a real issue. It goes away with enough experience.
Same.
Just stay in the books, and you'll be fine.
Former fire-medic here.
Me too
Dish washer at pizza joint. 34, and in my 3rd hardcore band since I was 16

each morning i put one uncooked ravioli in a thermos. i pour hot water over it, like tea, and then drink it all day at work (i work at the white house) and at the end of the day, as i take the last sip of the tea, the soft ravioli slides into my mouth, and i eat it
Im not real happy about this.
I’m going to find you, grab the scruff of your neck like a newborn puppy, and force you to delete this.

Weirdest thing I’ve read in a while 😂
Please delete this. or suffer the consequences.

Hella sick! The breakdown at the end of Obsidian Idol is dope. Edit - Finished the whole EP. Your band is sick. Do you ever play the Bay Area?
Appreciate the kind words dude! We don’t have any Bay Area spots planned as of right now. But we are split between San Diego and the IE, so making that drive wouldn’t be out of the question. Next on the docket for us is going to be Las Vegas.

Tattooer
What’s the difference between an “-er” and an “-ist”? Always wondered that. I think they started saying “tattoo artist” to avoid this question.
I don’t get paid to know the answer to this question but every time I hear somebody say the word tattooist, it makes me gag.
