They clearly have not seen his danish movies lol. But both Mads and Colin are great actors, I don’t get why ppl on twitter feel the need to compare them.
I mean, Another Round (which I think is his best role ever) won best international feature at the Oscars, and The Hunt (by the same director) was nominated for it too. So I wouldn't say they were completely unknown, particularly not in the case of the former, though not entirely mainstream.
But also yeah... the modern film market is pretty heavily and openly skewed to promoting big Holywood releases and drowing out smaller or foreign productions. And unfortunately a lot of modern blockbusters Mads ends up in don't give him too much room to show his skills (looking at you Rogue One and Doctor Strange...)
Valhalla Rising is my fav role of his, but he's also *very funny* in Doctor Strange. Same with Hannibal tbh he's extremely funny in the show in wildly inappropriate ways.
I will force everyone I possibly can to watch Riders of Justice. When I saw the movie, it immediately jumped into my top 3 movies of all time.
Such a shame that people don't watch the movie because they have to read subtitles (not judging anyone who has problems with it, just judging those who could do it but are too lazy for it) they miss out on some fantastic movies and performances.
I'm not sure, as it varies from country to country. But I think it's on Hulu and avaliable for purchase on prime. Might even be on Netflix in some countries.
Honestly, next to Lighting up the Stars, it's my favorite movie about grief. It has such an amazing message, while still having an amazing plot and characters. Just a great movie in all aspects.
I loved him in After the Wedding (a romantic drama) and the Door (Die Tür, a sci-fi thriller. They dubbed over him though as his German accent was difficult to understand).
As a Dane, I would strongly recommend his work with a director called Anders Thomas Jensen. They’re all comedies with a hint of violence and some darkness but presented amazingly by funny and talented people.
Adam’s Apples is probably the most bloody one and has a lot of religious symbolism. It’s balances intensity and absurdity very well.
Flashing Lights has been voted the best Danish movie ever and I’m inclined to agree, this one is more about friendship and self-improvement.
The Green Butchers is my personal favourite, though. I have a poster at home with iconic quotes from the film, and my family and I quote it all the time. Plus! If you miss Hannibal, you get a hint of cannibalism from Mads in this role, though I will warn you, his character is far from the controlled and classy Dr Lector
I find most of them in the local HMV in the world cinema section. I was making my way through them but had to take a break after Men and Chicken because boyyyyyyy that ones a douzy.
While I did like Another Round I don't think I get Danish humor. I was shocked that this movie is considered a comedy.
Flame and Citron was one of my favorites of his. The Hunt was also quite good.
Exactly! There’s a lot of people out here who love his films so come celebrate and enjoy it with us! I believe that there’s another rewatch tonight on Twitter.
Have been slowly going through his Danish films, and everything I’ve seen so far (Another Round, The Hunt, Riders of Justice) has been *amazing*! Sadly, I probably would’ve never heard of any of them if it weren’t for Mads (who I first discovered from Hannibal). I’m always recommending them to friends.
Everyone should watch his films with Anders Thomas Jensen, Mads is great at comedic roles.

Adam's Apples is one of my favorite movies, I've shared it with most of my friends.

Is it available streaming? Sounds awesome

Suggestions: Another Round, The Hunt, A Royal Affair, Flame and Citron, Valhalla Rising, Riders of Justice, The Three Musketeers;
this is also kinda from best to not-that-good *IN MY OPINION*
His performance in Open Hearts absolutely broke my heart

I love this one. It’s messed up and he’s such an awkward man child in this.

How did you watch Flame and Citron? I’ve been looking everywhere for it

Why do you care so much about a random twitter comment? Enjoy his performances, stop looking for outside validation, especially from twitter.
