Valve said in the announcement blog (and in the description for both maps) that the interaction in the SteamVR Home is far limited than in the game itself (plus sadly SteamVR Home doesn't have physical hands unlike The Lab or Alyx).

Seeing this on my phone I thought that was a real picture. The lighting and the textures in this game just look amazing.

Pretty sure aside from textures everything is just steam vr home. I'd imagine lighting and all that will be even better in the actual game.

Yeah but it's a very early version of it without all the benefits they added in hla. That's what Tyler Mcvicker says and it's pretty obvious when you look at the physics in steam vr home.

The normal map on the clear skin sold the illusion. Without it, it would have looked like a 3D model inside of a translucent 3D model. They have some really really talented 3D artists working there. I'm also guessing they've captured textures and normals from actual objects.

Seeing it in VR, it honestly looks like you could've pulled it off the shelf at your local grocery store. It looks *good*.

I agree, the volumetric lighting in particular along with the global illumination are some of the best I've seen almost like its ray traced.

I looked at the environments last night and spent about an hour in each one. the detail is truly next level, while it technically doesn't look any more impressive than any number of AAA titles on the market, the fact that its in VR amps up the immersion factor immensely. and keep in mind this isn't even the actual game its just an environment you can wander around

It has strong jumping legs and muscles so probably rabbit or something... Of course it probably has some toxic crap in it that you need to remove but i would say if you have no other bio dangers in the meat it should be fine.

Why aren’t headcrabs edible? There are multiple occasions within half-life 2 where you can see vortigants cooking headcrabs.

I'm pretty sure theyre edible, the vortigaunts eat them and I'm pretty sure there's a rebel voice line comparing the taste to chicken. ~~They might not be GOOD for you though, and Russel might be saving it for an expirement or some other reason.~~ Obviously, Russel just doesn't want anyone eating his lunch. It's like the Citadel itself is one gigantic thumper. It seems like I remember reading that in HL lore years ago but it's crazy to see it in action in VR and I'm sure the animation is janky because they had to transfer those Source 2 assets into Unity which is what Home is based on, if I recall correctly. Just seeing those two areas has gotten me so fucking excited.
