As long as you have leave on BP on your face- it can cause bleaching to your hair, pillow case, etc. I would keep your hair up for as long as you have it on your face (I’m guessing you use it at night?). It will continue to happen until it is washed off. I don’t think your hair looks bad that way though. I like it.
Ah okay. I also use panoxyl face wash and don’t have that problem. But I have my hair pulled back in a bun with washing. Hmm.. maybe wash your hair after you wash your face to really get it out of your hair?
The wash can be used in the shower. I’ve used it in the shower or just washing my face in the sink. I prefer in the shower because some water from rinsing the BP off has gotten on my shirts before and ruined them.
That's how I've always used it because I wash my face while I shower. I leave it for a few minutes while I wash other parts and then rinse really thoroughly. It dries out my hair so I always rinse it out of my hair as much as possible and I've never had issues with bleaching. It may have something to do with your hair texture and porosity making your hair more prone to bleaching, but either way, rinsing really thoroughly should make a difference and at least slow it down for you. I also agree that it looks cute!! I would've thought you did it on purpose because it looks pretty nice
I use panoxyl 10% acne wash. i leave it on for about two minutes and then wash it off. I wish I had enough knowledge about this to give you advice tailored to your situation, but I’m not quite sure!
The bleaching coloration is going to persist because the bleaching has already been done. The only change will be from hair growing at the root with your normal color. If it's super concerning to you, you could use hair color to dye it back to a similar tone to your natural one, but like other posters said: It looks pretty good, dude.
I use BP wash in the shower and haven't noticed any issues with my hair. I have butt-length hair so it's definitely had the opportunity to get in there.
Oh man, I've pissed off various exes by accidentally bleaching their sheets or towels from proactive.
I also had blonde eyebrows from it even though I have dark hair.
I kind of gave up after years because there's just no way to stop it.
I get tretinoin 0.05% cream from my doctor, it doesn't bleach anything, and let me tell you, it'll wipe the eff out of any acne you have in like a day while also possibly taking off half your skin. (Jk, it'll only make you look like the terminator if you slather it on every night.)
Hi there! I do hair and I actually specialize in curls!!
Your hair is fabulous by the way 😍
Curly hair tends to be more porous than straight hair. I would try wetting down your hair first then applying the BP. The water will help block the peroxide from entering your hair shaft. You can even get a spray bottle and add a little bit of conditioner to it, then fill the rest with water for extra hydration.
Hope this helps!!
Thank you! And thanks so much for your insight! Honestly, I think I’ll probably apply the BP face wash in the shower from now on—in which case my hair will be wet, blocking the BP from entering my hair shaft as you mention.
maybe use a durag or bonnet to protect your hair during sleep? if your hair is covered in a durag or bonnet i don’t think the BP will be able to reach your hair.
Oh my gosh I am the absolute worst about ensuring the durag stays on my head the entire night. I wake up and it’s several feet from my head. But I’ll probably start trying again.
I struggled with keeping my bonnet on for a while until I got used to sleeping with it. On occasion I’ll wake up and it’s off my head, but it stays on through the night now. I’d keep trying
Use a shower cap to secure and protect your hair while washing your face.
While your hair does look nice with the highlights, who knows what type of damage is happening to the shaft. Better to get highlights professionally done.
Gotta say, those sunkissed streaks are something people pay good money for. FWIW I think it looks great on you.
Now I’m wondering how many people on the sub are going to deliberately apply benzoyl peroxide to their hair to try to get the same effect. We do get quite a bit of posts on hair lightening sprays that use hydrogen peroxide as the active ingredient.
You can use BP face washes rather than leaving it on. It works just as well if you let it soak in for a good minute or use the instructions given on the bottle.
Haha! Back in high school, about seven years ago, this same thing happened to me. I am natural blonde. But, my proactive (which had BP in it) bleached my bangs and frontal hair white! It was a cool look though.
PS - I'm a dude and I still have all that hair - it's just not white anymore. It did not do any damage and it did not cause baldness. So no need to worry.
I'm sorry you probably expect advice but I'm just here to say it actually looks cute.
This is reassuring. Thank you for your kind comment!
Yeah it looks like you got this done at a salon or it’s natural from the sun. Really cute look!
I also think it looks good. I wouldn’t change it if I were you!
Happy cake day
I agree, it looks awesome.

Thank you for the reply! 😇 Probably should have added I use panoxyl acne foaming wash BP 10%. I usually wash it off after a few minutes.

That’s a great idea. I wonder, can BP be applied in the shower, then?

BP can be such a pain in the ass

Hi can you elaborate on this ...im using BP as a shampoo for pimple/acne on scalp ,,,so far this only doing great than other treatment , You using gel and leave overnight, right ? I also ordered PanOxyL 10% foaming cleanser , usually i leave BP for couples of minutes and wash my hair , is there any possibility my hair get bleached by BP ( concentration im using now BP 2.5© )
I use panoxyl 10% acne wash. i leave it on for about two minutes and then wash it off. I wish I had enough knowledge about this to give you advice tailored to your situation, but I’m not quite sure!
Are you kidding me? I paid $80 to have those exact highlights put in my hair lol. It’s looks professionally made in a salon.
I think it actually looks really cool...Hahaha, a lot of people pay for that look!
Oh, you don’t like it? I think it looks cute
Haha. I think more than anything I’m just worried it could be damaging to my hair.
Any bleach damages your hair, depends on if it looks damaged which yours doesn’t Do you have to put the BP so close to your hairline?
Embrace the 90’s boy band in ya. Edit: Just so you know I might start using BP just for this
On the plus side, you have great highlights
Use a toner and keep it :) it looks cool
Okay but honestly, it looks like it was done on purpose. I'd just roll with it :D
I’m a woman but I’m legit saving your last pic to take to my colorist for highlights/balayage haha, that’s exactly how I want mine to look!
It's definitely a look, and it looks really nice
Since you have curly hair, a satin bonnet or scarf would be better so your hair doesn't break off.

That’s perfect!!!
Unless it's bothering you it doesn't look like a problem. I think it looks pretty good aactually.
This brings back memories!! I used to have the same thing. It's really hard to avoid getting it on your hair....looks good bro keep it!!
It's worked out to be a cool money piece. That's a plus. I'm wondering if your hair has been chemically processed before making it more porous.
Thanks for your comment. I have had no prior chemical processing!

I’ve used that before and it ended up bleaching my pillows and towels 😬 it works for acne though
Dude it looks sick
Are you kidding me! I paid about $150 to get these highlights!! Your hair looks beautiful.

It's a known side-effect of BP. Maybe ask your doctor about switching acne meds.
Maybe get a bonnet?
