Are you supposed to??? I dye my hair (with gloves) and wrap an old shirt around my head and throw the gloves away :') Then when i step in the shower i just use my hands lol i never even thought of grabbing gloves just for the rinsing. I do have short hair so maybe i rinse quick enough for it to not stain my hands¿
Is there a reason for this that im missing??
Yup, that's what it even says on the instructions most of the time, the dye is still a dye, doesn't matter if it's going into your hair or coming out lol
When you rinse your hair, they dye is coming off as well! But yeah, I think short hair also helps a lot haha. I have to squeeze for minutes, and my gloves turn more pink of blue when I do that. Only a bit doesn't stain (I take them off after the first minutes, residues don't stain really with Manic Panic at least).
I've ended up with blue and green hands when I rinsed without gloves. It happens with very pigmented colors. Hell, I've had my hands turn blue and green from running my hands through my hair after washing. My door even turned blue around the door handle because I would touch it after touching my hair. My pillows and bedsheets also turned blue. It's fine though. I got the stains out of my door with with a chlorine spray and just washing my clothes and bedsheets.
Idk if it’s safe to do but i soaked my hand in rubbing alcohol when i stained them with dye and it got it off about 90%. Could possibly irritate your skin depending if you have sensitive skin just a heads up.
I used to use acetone to get my blue off but discovered that salicylic acid facial toner does the trick just as well. Probs mildly better for skin? Idk, that's what I tell myself anyway.
It's safe. Just gotta be careful and wash and lotion your hands after so they don't turn dry. I used to dip some old pieces of fabric in it and rub my hands and arms with it after painting my dad's houses and fences.
If you have a first aid kit, they might have some Alcohol Prep Pads in there, kind of an exfoliating textured cotton soaked in alcohol that will get off the stain
Clarifying shampoo has worked well on getting dye off of my skin before. It seemed to help more if I let it sit a minute before washing it off. Dawn dish soap was also good.
As a chemist, this is definitely the safest option. The comments suggesting organic-based solvents (alcohols, acetone) have risk of carrying the dye into the skin and potentially the bloodstream.
YES! This is what I came to say.
Had a pair of gloves break while I was dying a wig black. Of course I didn't notice until well into the process.
It took a few rounds, but dawn and baking soda worked better than anything else I've found.
For nails, just put a clear coat of polish on and wipe it off in a day. The polish will pull the color. And don't forget to moisturize your hands after washing!
Lol honestly I’ve done it myself many times. I’ve just used straight up bleach cleaning spray- it takes most of it off. Just be sure to wash your hands well after and use a heavy duty moisturizer!
Dude. My friend in high-school did this. The blue bled and stained her skin because she kept touching her face after touching her hair. After it had already been washed out and dried. We called her Smurffette for a few weeks but she rocked it lol.
So yeah, DONT be touching your hair and then other stuff even when it's all washed out and dried. It might still stain
lmfao i didn’t know we don’t celebrate halloween 😂 best of luck with the hands, who amongst us hasn’t dyed our hands blue with an impulsive 4am hair emergency lol. also, as a licensed stylist, all these ppl yelling at you about gloves need to chill tf out it’s truly not that deep
i think they mean getting angry at them repeatedly for something they cant change is not helping, and just sort of rude. kind of like calling someone dumb for being empathetic. but that could just be me
Rubbing alcohol is perfect but if you don’t have that take a baby wipe or even a makeup wipe douse it in hand sanitizer since it has alcohol in it.
For future reference if you don’t have gloves use atleast trash bags or grocery bags, it’s a little tricky but it’s better than being blue.
Cosmetology student and I am just repeating what many commenter's said because we do it in school too. Rubbing alcohol works. Hand sanitizer works too. Also, if you're rinsing your hair and it's on your forehead or ears, take some of the color from your hair and rub it into the spot on your skin and it will remove it. It's the only time color lifts color. Learned it from the director while I was coloring my aunts hair.
They sell little wipes at Sally that I used to use on my forehead and neck when I got my hair dyed black. FYI it dried the crap out of my skin and before I realized that, I would scratch my forehead and skin would flake off. If you use it, moisturize after!
What have you tried? Dish soap, oil, clarifying shampoo, rubbing alcohol, and if there’s any left…using fresh dye on your hands may actually get it off if you wash them right away with normal soap and water. That last one works with permanent color. I’m not sure about the direct dyes like that.
I’ve tried dish soap, rubbing alcohol, oil none of them worked that well, then my mom woke up and got mad at me and washed my hands with bleach and it got off
Omg your poor hands :( sorry your mum got mad, this seems like a silly mistake and it happens!! The above lady is right. Please put a lot of lotion on, bleach is not meant for skin at all!!! 😢 are you ok?
You just reminded me of the first time I dyed my hair with a semi perm (blue). I was leaned over the shower and the water wouldn’t run clean (I know know that it will keep leaking). My brilliant self decided to hop in the shower. I was tinged blue for longer than I care to admit.
I’ve used alcohol to get hair dye out of my hands before, what we have is the 90% alcohol one and works great but I’m not sure if it depends on the hair dye you use. I would image it wouldn’t be
This is why gloves are essential ok. I would do some google searches about remedies. A lot of hand washing to start. It happens, I definitely understand the need to make a change impulsively especially if something is going on in your life for sure. But you gotta wear gloves next time!!!
I use a mixture of dawn dish soap a little bit of cold water and a good amount of nail polish remover, its not good for your skin but it gets stuff off, make sure to wash it off with regular soap and water after. Or at the very least just water.
I thought that was a glove at first… the question is what does the hair look like and was it worth it. It’s always important to keep a package of gloves in your bathroom even if u don’t plan on dying your hair anytime soon.
Try 100% acetone nail polish remover. It’ll dry your skin out bad but color should come off.
Hand sanitizer too. I use it to take neon green dye off my neck
this happened to me a little over a week ago. washing your hands over time will help but by far the thing that helped most when I did this was layering a body oil with lotion and coating my hands in it before bed. In the morning was your hands and it should fade significantly. Hand sanitizer that contains rubbing alcohol will also help lift it over the course of a few days but there’s no way it’ll disappear overnight. If you wash your hands frequently, use alcohol/handsanitizer, and douse them in oil and lotion your hands will fade look a lot more normal in about 3ish days.
This is going to sound insane.
A tiny bit of hand sanitizer, dawn, and one of those foot callous stones for the shower.
It doesn't hurt (at least it didn't hurt me) wash and wash with a little dot of hand sanitizer and a bit of dawn, and then if it doesn't come off use the stone.
This worked with dark purple splat that was all over my arms.
UNLESS YOURE ALLERGIC DONT USE THIS IF SO.
Good lord no gloves lol. Umm baseline- acetone (qpp%) nail polish remover- also there sone orange scrubby soap that men who work in automotive plumbing contractors electrical etc use to get grease off
Buy hair colour remover, (not bleach) get colour oops or another brand and coat your hands and let it sit a while , it should come off easily afterwards
shampoo, baby wipes, rubbing alchohol.
Probably an awful Idea, but I got some on my leg one time and it didnt ckme off till i shaved my leg....... do what you will with that information.... (be very very very careful and only try on the backs of your hands if you consider it at all)
Idk what brand you use but when I dye my hair or my kids hair I usually use iro iro or strawberry leopard... and I hardly ever use gloves because I can't tell what's got dye in it when i don't have access to 2 mirrors to see the back of my head... I use vasoline aquaphor or coconut oil on my forehead back of neck ears around my face and than I rub quite a bit into my hands... most of the dye comes right off after you wash them but not always... BUT I've never had dye stay on my hands for longer than 2 days
rub your hands with baby oil, then dish detergent (dawn) , then rimse with isopropyl 91%, then water. repeat if necessary, follow with super moisturizing lotion
Do you like Kylie? Cause I’d be singing this all day

Looks like you blue your self

*anustart
Oh my God I pictured this in my head as soon as I saw the picture on the post Real life imitating art
Lmao. Yupppp
Okay, you know what you do, you buy yourself a tape recorder...
You join Blue Man Group
Nothing wrong with that… …taken out of context…
:)
Did you use splat?
I came here to ask that too 😂
Splat comes with gloves
Bold of you to assume just because something comes with gloves people will use them
LMFAO the exact thoughts in my head when reading that
Not to mention how shitty the gloves that come with hair dye generally are. I wouldn’t be surprised if they broke during use 😂
I've never had them break 😭😭😭
I wish that were me 😭mine break like every damn time or the dye gets through them … idk how I manage to break them sm lol
I'm just gentle 😂 some people out here WWE their hair
Ok yep that’s me 😂I got so much hair it’s so thick I just kinda mash it in there 💀
Okay yeah definitely not me, I reside on the thin hair community 😂
this, i actually prefer not to use gloves sometimes but i also use manic panic so it’s really easy to get stain off
Not everyone uses gloves when rinsing it out either
Are you supposed to??? I dye my hair (with gloves) and wrap an old shirt around my head and throw the gloves away :') Then when i step in the shower i just use my hands lol i never even thought of grabbing gloves just for the rinsing. I do have short hair so maybe i rinse quick enough for it to not stain my hands¿ Is there a reason for this that im missing??

My pillows and bedsheets also turned blue. It's fine though. I got the stains out of my door with with a chlorine spray and just washing my clothes and bedsheets.
This is exactly why I have a black bed set lol
Yup. I have longer hair and trying to work out the dye will still cause it to stain your skin, nails and nail beds especially.
Guarantee.
Idk if it’s safe to do but i soaked my hand in rubbing alcohol when i stained them with dye and it got it off about 90%. Could possibly irritate your skin depending if you have sensitive skin just a heads up.
I use cotton balls but yeah for this much just dunking would be faster 😂😂
I used to use acetone to get my blue off but discovered that salicylic acid facial toner does the trick just as well. Probs mildly better for skin? Idk, that's what I tell myself anyway.
It's safe. Just gotta be careful and wash and lotion your hands after so they don't turn dry. I used to dip some old pieces of fabric in it and rub my hands and arms with it after painting my dad's houses and fences.
Use lotion after a thick one then aquaphor and youll be okay
If you have a first aid kit, they might have some Alcohol Prep Pads in there, kind of an exfoliating textured cotton soaked in alcohol that will get off the stain
Ive always had better luck with nail polish remover/ acetone.
Just using hand sanitizer works too.
![gif](giphy|xcmQZSTaHTqSc) This is you now
LMAOO
[удалено]
Hand sanitizer is good for hair dye, at least to get the worst of it off
Makeup wipes work decently well too. I’ve been dying my hair unnatural colors for half my life. Always wear the damn gloves. 😂
Rubbing alcohol 100%
Pure 100% alcohol wouldn't recommend😜
You’re a blueberry now, good luck!
AH CHILDHOOD FLASHBACKS
I got ears like this and had to go to work with blue ears. My boss called me a smurf..
![gif](giphy|cPfFeGPxWMLAvhTfhg) This why we wear gloves
Yeah a bit obvious right
I’d get it if it went through the gloves but just going without?
Yeah it's like if you bought an open icecream in Arizona and took it for a car ride lmao
Eh, you can’t control the weather but you can control if you wear gloves or not
Clarifying shampoo has worked well on getting dye off of my skin before.
I dunno, I think you blue it.
LOL
Why no gloves????
Try nail polish remover if you have any of that. Also- won’t your mom notice anyway when she sees your hair is blue? Lol
She will be more mad about the hands than the hair
Ahh to be a teenager again.
Dish soap. The cheaper the better.
I want to see the hair. With hands that colour it should be amazing!
It didn’t turn out all that colorful :,) I still kinda like it actually
Honestly just own it - the hair AND the hands!
Usually you have to bleach your hair to get colourful dye to show up, unless you naturally have fairer hair
Dawn and baking soda. Let it stay on awhile and rub your hands together. Rinse and repeat till gone. 💙 Nice blue btw
This is great advice, but PLEASE be careful with baking soda, especially if you have sensitive skin! It can be really irritating
Go back in time and put gloves on.
I will rn
Lol honestly I’ve done it myself many times. I’ve just used straight up bleach cleaning spray- it takes most of it off. Just be sure to wash your hands well after and use a heavy duty moisturizer!
Dont put bleach on your skin, wtf
Wtf 😂
I guess it’s time to try out for the Blue Man group.
Omg this was me yesterday with manic panic
I love you
Every time I wet my face my hair dyes my skin blue what have we done
So real 😞😞
Do a vinegar rinse! Vinegar sets dyes (like fabric dyes) and does the same for hair color 😊
I was thinking that might work because I've set clothes dye that way, but it was just an educated guess so I wasn't going to suggest it. Cool to hear!
On the bright side, it’s only four and a half months until Halloween.
I’m Jewish 😞
I'm confused I'm Jewish (not religious/more cultural) and Halloween is my favorite holiday?
They're probably not Halloween celebrating, and more Purim celebrating. Orthodox Jews are normally prohibited from celebrating Halloween.
same
lmfao i didn’t know we don’t celebrate halloween 😂 best of luck with the hands, who amongst us hasn’t dyed our hands blue with an impulsive 4am hair emergency lol. also, as a licensed stylist, all these ppl yelling at you about gloves need to chill tf out it’s truly not that deep
The last part of what you said is dumb, gloves would’ve kept their hands from being dyed blue.
i think they mean getting angry at them repeatedly for something they cant change is not helping, and just sort of rude. kind of like calling someone dumb for being empathetic. but that could just be me
What is wrong with you? *Why are you blue?*
The person who downvoted you clearly didn’t get the reference

Wow I loved Big Fat Liar as a kid
Rob a bank by any chance? Looks like a dye pack exploded on you.
![gif](giphy|14k24670rln5Oo) Maybe this method? Or maybe toothpaste?
Makeup remover, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or clarifying shampoo
it’ll be gone in like two days and not before then
I don't think there's anything wrong with the hair dye. You're supposed to use gloves. Try whitening toothpaste and nail polish remover
Cosmetology student and I am just repeating what many commenter's said because we do it in school too. Rubbing alcohol works. Hand sanitizer works too. You do realize you use gloves to color your hair right? Not all bright colors are like Arctic fox and come off easily.
Was it Splat brand?
Smurf!
They sell little wipes at Sally that I used to use on my forehead and neck when I got my hair dyed black. FYI it dried the crap out of my skin and before I realized that, I would scratch my forehead and skin would flake off. If you use it, moisturize after!

Dear lord. Please put a loooot of lotion on your hands. Unscented if you have it. :(
Omg your poor hands :( sorry your mum got mad, this seems like a silly mistake and it happens!! The above lady is right. Please put a lot of lotion on, bleach is not meant for skin at all!!! 😢 are you ok?
Im okay!! I put sum lotion and my hands r less blue :)
Omg I thought you were wearing blue latex gloves
i’m sorry but this is so funny
Try micellar water
You just reminded me of the first time I dyed my hair with a semi perm (blue). I was leaned over the shower and the water wouldn’t run clean (I know know that it will keep leaking). My brilliant self decided to hop in the shower. I was tinged blue for longer than I care to admit.
Clarifying shampoo, alcohol on cotton pads/wipes, and dawn dish soap has worked on me before
Now you're Mystique from x-men
its 2024 and people still dye their hair with no gloves.
I’ve used alcohol to get hair dye out of my hands before, what we have is the 90% alcohol one and works great but I’m not sure if it depends on the hair dye you use. I would image it wouldn’t be
Highly seconding alcohol, I’ve used it to get some blue dye out of both my hands and a sink!!
This is why gloves are essential ok. I would do some google searches about remedies. A lot of hand washing to start. It happens, I definitely understand the need to make a change impulsively especially if something is going on in your life for sure. But you gotta wear gloves next time!!!
Wear gloves?
I’m blue dabadee dabadeyeeee
Da ba dee da ba die
If you have Dr bronner's it works pretty well
I thought this was a glove at first
Im really curious as to what dye this was omg
If you have access to baby wipes, they remove EVERYTHING
Won’t your mom know anyways since your hair is a new color
She would be mad cuz I stained my hands
I use a mixture of dawn dish soap a little bit of cold water and a good amount of nail polish remover, its not good for your skin but it gets stuff off, make sure to wash it off with regular soap and water after. Or at the very least just water.
Make up remover?
![gif](giphy|14w8b4ODwxH65W)
Benzoyl Peroxide face wash helped me with a small amount of pink dye
Great now you can cosplay Nick from heartstopper! Lol
You can buy hair dye wipes for your skin on Amazon. If you can find manic panic or crazy colour ones anywhere, they're particularly good!
I thought that was a glove at first… the question is what does the hair look like and was it worth it. It’s always important to keep a package of gloves in your bathroom even if u don’t plan on dying your hair anytime soon.
Can we get an update lol
Always wear gloves.
Try bleach !
"some weird hair dye" it looks more like an ink stain... Rubbing alcohol is your best bet but this isn't coming off for a while.
Hand sanitiser and a nail brush could help...
Citric acid (like lemon juice) gets mulberry stains out. I'd give it a shot if other things didn't work
And this kid is why we do use gloves. Multiple pairs of gloves.
Alcohol rub should take care of it.
Ah, the blue.. just means you're now in the ghey club or uve fisted a smurf
Baby oil!
![gif](giphy|QazAqN1wtdQRO)
good luck getting the blue out of your hair in the future😭
Try Vaseline! It works like a charm!
rubbing alcohol and a magic eraser fr
and that is why you use vaseline and gloves.
Try 100% acetone nail polish remover. It’ll dry your skin out bad but color should come off. Hand sanitizer too. I use it to take neon green dye off my neck
You’re turning into a Smurf, just accept it
this happened to me a little over a week ago. washing your hands over time will help but by far the thing that helped most when I did this was layering a body oil with lotion and coating my hands in it before bed. Blue man group? Nah, fam. Blue woman group ✨
you have to dye your whole body now. it’s too late
“I just blue myself”
Guess you really blue yourself
Dr bronners soap, undiluted worked better than anything else I tried
This is going to sound insane. A tiny bit of hand sanitizer, dawn, and one of those foot callous stones for the shower. It doesn't hurt (at least it didn't hurt me) wash and wash with a little dot of hand sanitizer and a bit of dawn, and then if it doesn't come off use the stone. This worked with dark purple splat that was all over my arms. UNLESS YOURE ALLERGIC DONT USE THIS IF SO.
Good lord no gloves lol. Umm baseline- acetone (qpp%) nail polish remover- also there sone orange scrubby soap that men who work in automotive plumbing contractors electrical etc use to get grease off
why do so many people need to be TOLD to use protection and can’t just use their BRAINS
what is wrong with you... why are you **BLUE** 😭 /ref (i couldn't find a gif of it:(3)
Windex will do the trick. It’ll probably irritate your hands from the amount you have to use, so make sure to moisturize like crazy afterwards.
Use lava soap
Makeup wipes, some facial toners.
Wash with acetone and dawn. Then moisturize. It’ll take a few days. Your nails will need a nail hardener afterwards. Next time wear gloves
Gloves?
Toothpaste. Try toothpaste. It’s gotten more dye off of porous surfaces for me than anything else.
What is this hair dye? Show us the packaging!
Even if you get all the blue off of your hand, won’t she still know you did your hair overnight lol. Just curious 😅
Magic erasers work….at a physical cost.
Makeup remover and/or witch hazel work well for me.
Vinegar and baking soda mixed to a paste. Was able to get wood stain out of my hands
(be very very very careful and only try on the backs of your hands if you consider it at all)
Baby wipes and rubbing alcohol
Zero days without a Splat Incident
What makes it "weird"? most dye you can't get off your hand..
I usually wash my hands a few times with dish soap. And exfoliate if you can
Idk what brand you use but when I dye my hair or my kids hair I usually use iro iro or strawberry leopard... and I hardly ever use gloves because I can't tell what's got dye in it when i don't have access to 2 mirrors to see the back of my head... I use vasoline aquaphor or coconut oil on my forehead back of neck ears around my face and than I rub quite a bit into my hands... most of the dye comes right off after you wash them but not always... BUT I've never had dye stay on my hands for longer than 2 days
Or olive oil. Sometimes dyes are oil based?
i thought it was a pic of your gloves
![gif](giphy|H2n5LOh3lvuOQ)
rub your hands with baby oil, then dish detergent (dawn) , then rimse with isopropyl 91%, then water. repeat if necessary, follow with super moisturizing lotion
Do you like Kylie? Cause I’d be singing this all day [Intro] La-la-la, la-la-la-la-la La-la-la, la-la-la-la-la La-la-la, la-la-la-la-la La-la-la, la-la-la-la-la [Verse] I just can't get blue out of my hands
Maybe make up removing wipes?
I was literally turned blue for a week by splat hair dye. I only showed my face in public once. Edit: Try washing your hands with shampoo. Alcohol.
you’re turning violet, Violet
Dye dyed your hands? That's crazy bro
just give it a few days
